Update on Eugene's $10 Application fee cap
"The City will not enforce the $10 cap on applicant screening charges until the Oregon Supreme Court issues a decision on the plaintiffs’ appeal of the Court of Appeals’ decision filed on November 6, 2024. The City has not implemented the application fee cap and is currently not requiring landlords to limit application fees to $10"

Who is hiring? (Monthly jobs thread)
Welcome to the monthly jobs thread! If you're aware of any job openings, please share them here for eager job-seekers in the Eugene/Springfield area!
And if you're an employer looking to hire, feel free to share any openings you have.
The rules
- All top-level comments MUST be a link or a description of a job opening or openings in the Eugene/Springfield area
- Optionally, start your comment with a tag to indicate what type of offering it is. For example:"[Restaurant] Looking for a new cook!""[Tech] Now hiring new technical support reps!""[Manufacturing] Need production line workers!"
Good luck!

FRIDAY RANT THREAD
NYE FUCKED UP MY SLEEP CYCLE. IF A HOLIDAY FALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK, WE SHOULD HAVE THE REST OF THE WEEK OFF. AMERICANS DON'T DEMAND ENOUGH VACATION TIME. WE ARE TOO PRODUCTIVE WITH TOO LITTLE TO SHOW FOR IT. I'M TIRED.

How much do you think AirBnB is driving the housing shortage here in Eugene?
It's a fact that AirBnB's are affecting the housing supply nation wide, to which degree do you think it is driving up housing prices here in Eugene by taking housing out of the market?

Eugene Weekly--What happened?
Was the embezzlement case from about a year ago ever concluded? Have heard it was a high level employee but there's been no news of repercussion. Anyone know?

jiggly Are we good here in Eugene (earthquake risk)?
Another kind poster shared this in another recent thread, and I thought I'd repost it and get feedback.
Check out the map! We are in the yellow! https://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/HEALTHYENVIRONMENTS/DRINKINGWATER/PLANREVIEW/Documents/seismic-map.pdf
If this map is correct, for some reason Eugene is relatively safe in terms of a magnitude 9 aka "THE BIG ONE" earthquake we are all due for. Any geologists want to share info on this?
My house is post and pier built, so I was told it would "bounce" and flex in an earthquake. I did read that flat slab houses are prone to having other issues like foundational cracking.

West 11th & Oak Patch taped off by police.
Driving to work this morning and the cops have the entire block taped off on west 11th starting at Oak Patch to the next block going east. Anyone heard anything? Tried looking but didn't find anything as of yet.

Meetup Clothing swap?
I know there used to be clothing swaps here in Eugene but couldn’t find anything recent. I have clothes I want to take to goodwill but would much rather do a swap so all involved could avoid spending money. Any leads would be greatly appreciated 😊

Source for mason jars
Has anyone seen mason jars for sale in bulk, locally? I'm looking for quart size mainly. I have tried Costco and considered ordering online but feel like buying a fragile item locally would be best.
Thanks in advance

Where to purchase reusable masks?
We've switched houses this year and lost some things moving around and need to restock our reusable masks. I know Down to Earth and Market of Choice have a small selection still, but does anyone know of other locations in the area that might have some options?
Thanks!

Something to do Where to donate those Christmas gifts you don't want
Have you received gifts for Christmas that you don't want or need? Or perhaps like me, you're deep cleaning your house and have items you don't know what to do with. Rather than giving them to a for-profit entity like Goodwill, consider giving items directly to local non-profits and mutual aid networks where items go directly to those in need.
Here's a list I've compiled. If you have an organization to contribute to this list, please list it in the comments!
(Items should be new, or clean and in good condition- check each organization's specifications)
S.A.R.A.S Treasures is a thrift store where all of the proceeds go to providing for cats and dogs that have been removed from shelters where they would otherwise be euthanized. They accept a large variety of new and gently used tems for the store, like purses, accessories, home goods and more.
https://www.sarastreasures.org/How_To_Help/thrift_store_donations.htm
Hope and Safety Alliance (formerly known as Women's Space) provides protection, shelter and empowerment to victims of domestic abuse. They accept women's clothing, toiletries, and makeup. For youth, they also accept winter clothing, certain toys, and craft supplies are appreciated for all ages. https://www.hopesafetyalliance.org/wish-
Daisy CHAIN inclusively provides pregnancy, lactation, parenting support and doula care to anyone who needs it. They accept donations of various lactation supplies, baby needs and sanitary items.
https://www.daisychainlane.org/in-kind-donation-needs.html
Black Thistle Street Aid is a collective of health care workers, herbalists, outreach workers and social justice advocates who intersect with the intention of supporting the community at large by supporting our unhoused community. They need tents, tarps, hygiene and first aid supplies. (We're currently hosting a donation bin for them at Wild Rose Tattoo. https://www.blackthistlestreetaid.org/donations
The Eugene Mission, who serves our houseless neighbors directly, accepts specific food items, housewares, clothing, blankets and hygiene supplies.
https://www.eugenemission.org/donateitems
ShelterCare, who's housing programs serve those experiencing or on the verge of experiencing homelessness, accepts a wide range of items including small pieces of furniture. You can donate some adult clothing, cleaning supplies, hygiene supplies and household items.
https://sheltercare.org/give-supplies/
Community Supported Shelters does similar work and maintains an amazon wishlist for their donations. If you have some of those items, you may be able to coordinate a drop off.
https://www.communitysupportedshelters.org/ways-to-give#GiveSupplies
Bags of Love Eugene, an organization that serves children in crisis, accepts specific children's clothing items, toys, books, school supplies, bedding, baby supplies and toiletries.
https://bagsofloveinc.org/donate/
The Arc Lane County, who serves those with intellectual and physical disabilities, accepts gently used clothes, shoes and blankets. http://arclane.org/cares/
There are even pages on Facebook that are for "no buy" exchanges, like the Lane County Mutual Aid Network - Community Message Boards
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1354709024737163
Keep the gifting season going, my friends. ❤
Edit: I meant to suggest adding in other organizations in the comments, so thanks to those that have done so.

Any Omnipod users?
Throwing out a shot in the dark, but are there any other adult Omnipod users for their Type 1 Diabetes in Eugene? I’m looking to see if there’s a community network here like my previous group in another state.

Moving Moving to Springfield, OR from Las Vegas, NV in Feb due to job transfer. I'll be making roughly 95k annually, could use some advice on rental agencies or real estate agents that deal with rentals in the area. Thank you!
Like the title says, I'm moving to Eugene next month and would like advice on rentals/real estate agents for the area that could assist in locating a good place to live up there. Any other advice you have for the area would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

Food Za Cart Pizza burglarized over the holidays. Support Jeff!
Za Cart Pizza was burglarized over the holidays.
Anyone who knows the owner Jeff knows how selfless and kind he is to his customers, spotting em free pizza if they're short and being a pillar of the 13th ave community in general.
Unfortunately, he was taken advantage of during a vulnerable time. True to his nature, he's not even pointing fingers or blaming anyone, but it has set him back financially.
If you need a pizza this week, go buy some Za Cart and leave a nice tip if you can! I'm just a customer trying to spread the word outside of Facebook.
37 W 13th Ave Eugene, OR 97401 (Right next to Fieldhouse, formally Big City)
541-514-3621 (Wait time for a whole pie is 20-45 min depending on how busy)
Hours vary but typically are:
Sun-Thurs 11am-11pm
Fri-Sat 11am-2am
