I’m newish to the area (moved here in early 2024). I’m having a hard time finding people my age. Any recommendations or anyone looking for friends? I have two dogs, enjoy hiking, skiing (love willamette pass) and live music.

Roseburg junk

What is it about people and all the crap they "store" in their driveways? I live in the Hucrest neighborhood and two separate residences on my block have campers (which haven't moved in 10+ years), a POS "trailer" made out of the bed of an old pickup (which has not moved in 10 years at least). In addition the other neighbor has a toy hauler, sled boat (overgrown by the hedge), a car which hasn't moved in years, a ramp for ATVs stored on their lawn. I could go on. WTF?!

Local Business Question about medical jobs

My mom moved in with me from out of state and has several years of experience in medical records. However she's u sure how it works here. A lot of the jobs she's looking at are using 3rd party employers. She doesn't want outsourced. Is that how it works here or is she gonna get scammed for data collection? She's a bit older (late 60s) and hasn't had to send her resume in a long time. Thanks for any helpful insights.

Moving here?

I live in Medford and the prospect of home ownership is basically nonexistent. I have to get out of Medford as it just doesn't make any sense being here if all I can do is rent forever.

My question is, what's this town like? It obviously looks more affordable than Medford, but what is the economy like, what is the crime rate like? Is there a community feel, at least in the downtown area?

No criminal record, have a degree, decent to good resume.

Lot of stuff going on right now regarding the flooding. Rivers getting near the flooding stage, landslides, trees falling, basements flooding, etc. But there is hope.. water is expected to recede sometime next week.

Wire Wrapping

Does anyone in Roseburg wire wrap jewelry? My daughter asked for a crystal necklace for Christmas, but most of what I saw online looked kinda cheap. Like, the stone probably wasn't real. I have a quartz crystal that I found years ago that would be perfect. I was wondering if there were a local artist who would be able to do something with it.

View all of Douglas County's ODOT Cams on a Single Page

For those of you who don't have Facebook where I've shared this, I wanted to share this site that I made that allows you to view all the ODOT cams on a single page. This way it's easier to see them the all when you on on the go or just want to see the conditions without having to click on each individual camera. If you are a geek like me and want to contribute to this project, please let me know! All of the code is open source.

Local Business Garden Buffet

So my family and I went to the Garden Buffet on 12-22 and let's just say it was very moist. It genuinely felt like sauna in there and the floors were very slippery and it was like walking on ice. One guy even fell and took out a booth table. the windows had so much moisture on them it was like it was raining. The sugar packets were so moist the sugar was a lump. The dividing glass... Oh god let's just say it looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the old china buffet was open. The price was very high per person too, it was $17.99 per person.

The food wasn't bad but it also wasn't good... I wouldn't go back again.

Events & Activities Anybody know why there is a helicopter just circling above the middle of town?

I live below Rocky Ridge and I am sure I have been hearing it for over an hour at least. When I went outside to view it, it seemed to just be going in circles over the center of town at least 3 times.

Hey neighbors!

I just launched my mobile dog grooming business, Another Day Another Doggie! If your pup needs a fresh cut, a good scrub, or some TLC, I’d love to help. I come right to your door, so no stressful car rides or long waits for your furry friend!

My website has all the details, including services and pricing. I'm on mobile so formatting is weird, I attached my link somewhere but I'll drop it in the comments also just to be safe.

Supporting small, local businesses means a lot, so thank you in advance for even taking a peek! If you have any questions or want to book an appointment, feel free to reach out. Let’s keep those tails wagging!

Who here thinks the slowest and worst drivers are here in the burg? I'm not talking about speeding, I'm talking about slow and clueless.

Events & Activities Few bad apples ruin this area sometimes. Christmas frustration.

TL;DR - Skip to 3rd paragraph if you want to get straight to it. LOL! I can get a bit talkative.

First of all, I love this town and the surrounding towns. I was born at the old Community Hospital in ‘76 and never wanted to leave the area.

It is not without it’s faults at times sure, but a lot of it comes down to the choices people make.

My wife and I have been together over 25 years and got a late start having kids, so our sons are 12 and 14. It’s a fun age and the things they like are either too expensive, or sometimes hard to get in general.

We heard the little church in Winston was giving out toys for families in need. My niece went and called my wife to tell her about it and that they had Funko Pops, and action figures. It was going on until 4:30. Perfect! She got off work around 3:45. By the time she got there, almost all of the Pops and He-Man figures were taken by people writing down that they have 10 children, and then having a friend get several as well.

Utterly disgusting behavior. It was supposed to be immediate children and be limited to 2 items per child. That’s plenty help if you’re there honestly.

I know there are worse things, and I’m blessed to have 2 great boys that have both said they just want to enjoy a Christmas together as a family in our own apartment for the first time in 5 years. It’s just the principle of the whole thing.

Okay, rant over. Thanks for listening (reading).

Generally not picky. We like hiking!

Also any recommendations for places to buy a tire that are open Sunday? Looking like Tire Monkey is the only one open.
