ST 351 Acrobatiq
Hi,
I’m taking ST 351 Ecampus and the materials include purchasing the Acrobatiq textbook. Is this necessary? Is there a free pdf version anywhere? I don’t really have the money to buy a textbook right now.

Anywhere to privately shower on campus?
I’m trans (FTM) and I’d like to be able to work out at Dixon, shower, and then go to my classes without having to return home (I live off-campus). I’m not exactly comfortable showering in the men’s OR the women’s locker rooms though as I’m pretty sure the showers are all open. I’ve heard there’s a gender neutral shower at Dixon but just the one. Is there anywhere on campus I can shower somewhat privately?

ChatGPT (AI) Policy
HORT310 Plant Propagation with Cara Still is the first class I have taken at OSU to have a ChatGPT (AI) policy. I think it is fair and I like the full disclosure aspect. Your thoughts?
ChatGPT usage in class In this class, you are allowed to use AI programs (ChatGPT for example) to help brainstorm, collect information, and generate ideas. Whatever information you collect from it must be framed in your own words and supported by content covered in class. You do not need to use AI tools if you don’t want to.
To ensure that you are both citing ChatGPT or other AI properly and reframing information in your own words, below are some guidelines for usage to adhere to. Use of ChatGPT or other AI tools without following these guidelines will result in a 0 score on discussion efforts.
- If using ChatGPT, Save the chat you used to generate ideas for your post. Copy the link using the share chat icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Paste the chat link below your discussion post for others to see.
Example of chat link: https://chat.openai.com/share/ff9f2a4d-1a6c-4d5b-9e88-5972fcd1c8b1 If you are using another AI tool, cite the tool at the end of your post instead. This is a helpful link for citing AI tools to get you started.
- You may not copy/paste ChatGPT answers straight as your discussion effort. Instead, reframe the information in your own words and take care to verify truth of information. Remember that this tool still has tendency to ‘hallucinate’, or make up information and citations, so everything must be verified. To this end you are not allowed to post numbered lists. Instead, everything must be written in full sentences in paragraph format.

How Time Consuming is HHS231 Online?
How time consuming is HHS231 online version? It's only 2 credits but I have seen people see that it is time consuming for a 2 credit course. Asking because I am trying to take HHS231, Calc 2, CS271, and working 20hrs a week.

Online CS Business Option?
I've been taking general CS classes for a while, but I'm starting to need to make a final decision on my option. I'm considering the business option, and was wondering if anyone has experience with that track?
I'm also considering taking some business classes at a community college later for cheaper and opting for a more CS focused option.
Thoughts? Opinions? Testimonies? Thanks!

Bobcat roaming town
Heads up that a bobcat was just (3:52 am Sunday) spotted near the community center. I heard the sound of it attacking some animal, and then watched it cross the street.

Switching Dorm Rooms
I was going to apply to switch from a Buxton triple to a Buxton double (or any engineering LLC double) for no reason other than I feel cramped, and I was wondering what my odds were of getting it on the sooner side of things, assuming I fill the application out asap. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Computer Science Online Program?
Hello everyone , I am 19 year old and currently working at a bank and the job has a benefit where I can study at this university , the online computer science BS degree.
I wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with it and is it worth it or not ? I have some other universities as option but this one so far seems to be the best so I just wanted to ask!
Thank you!

Lease takeover at the retreat!
I’m looking for someone to take over my lease starting in February. It is $820 a month, with a parking spot and utilities it comes to about $900. It’s rooming with three other girls, who are all super nice! The lease is also renewed for next year so you’ll have a place to live until August of 2026!! I’m looking for someone ASAP so let me know!!

What are the possibilities with a Natural Resources degree?
Outside of jobs with USFS, what are the possibilities? How difficult is it to find stable, good-paying jobs?
Curious to see what people in this major are doing… I talked to an advisor and was told the NR degree essentially overlaps with Sustainability, so you can get two degrees at the same time (or double-major, whatever it is considered as)

Summer housing
I'm thinking about doing the SURE program and I'm not sure how housing will work. I currently live on campus and am curious how people apply for housing a couple of months in advance. Does anyone also know if the summer prices for apartments drop since most students leave for the summer?

E-Campus Lecture Question?
New student at a local community college here in NC.
I have read that OSU has a very respected CS program online and was interested in transferring, but I was up thinking the other night about lectures and online classes.
If any of you are a part of the online CS program for a Bachelor's Degree how is the online learning?
Did any of your professors give you videos of their lectures?
I was also wondering if the classes were Asynchronous.
Thanks,
-P

ECE Course Descriptions
Hey Everyone,
I'm an ECE student from Germany and will be spending the Fall and Winter terms at OSU as an exchange student. This will be the third (and final) year of my undergrad studies, so all the ground work (All the math, physics, Signals and Systems, Electronics, Waves, Fields etc.) will be laid. Essentially, I want to get some or most of my electives done at OSU.
I'm currently in the process of picking out some classes (mostly 400-level). I however can't really seem to find any detailed content descriptions or a timeline for the classes, which I would need to A.) see if I actually want to take it and B.) if it can be transferred towards my degree. A detailed overview of what the class will cover is especially relevant for point B, since I need to discuss the possibility of a class counting towards my degree with my professors before my time at OSU...
I did somehow stumble across an EECS-internal mailing list (?) and found a description for an ECE499 class (attached to the email), something like that is pretty much what I'm looking for.
The classes I'm looking at are:
ECE461 - Intro to Communications
ECE462 - Dig. Comms & Channel Coding
ECE593 - RF Microwave Circuit Design (or 485, but that seems to be in spring)
ECE471 - Energy-Efficient VLSI Design
ECE499 - Dig. VLSI Design Automation
ECE499 - Principles of Computer Systems Design
Especially unsure about what the 499 classes cover and how they work.
So yeah, if anybody could tell me where to find these documents, that would be great, thanks in advance!

Failing honors thesis?
Hello, I’m an incoming freshman and I am doing the honors program. I’m nervous because I’ve heard if you fail your thesis then you don’t get the honors college diploma thing. My questions are, is passing a thesis somewhat easy if you put in a bunch of time and really focus on it? And, if you fail a thesis, can you remake it/modify to make it pass? And, if you fail and can’t remake it, do you still get a regular baccalaureate degree? Thank you.
