Meetup Sober girlfriends?
Hi,
I've lived in Eugene for a little over 2 years now and have had trouble finding meaningful friendships, especially when almost all social gatherings revolve around alcohol. I'm an introvert, looking to be adopted into a group of sober women, or women who don't have to drink to have fun.
I'm 36, happily married, and have a 10 y/o daughter. I'm a nerd. I'm an atheist. I'm š³ļøāš. I need a social life. I'm not interested in any male friends, but if you are a male and like Warhammer, and maybe have a cool partner, my husband and I would love to meet you both.

Meetup Anyone interested in helping me control invasive species in Oregon? Specifically, European Green Crab?
You're gonna laugh, but I'm a local vegan who really, really wants to help get the European green crab problem under control in Oregon. It's a serious problem as they decimate local shellfish populations, as well as feeding on the eggs of and out-competing local crab species. What's worse, they destroy eel grass patches that provide food and shelter for local wildlife and migrating species.
Unfortunately, one person is only allowed to harvest 35 EG crab a day and there's no way that my husband and myself could possibly ever make a dent in their numbers on our own. I'd like to get a group of similarly interested folks together to make regular trips to Siletz Bay and other places where this species has become a serious threat. I'm just trying to gauge interest before say, starting an official Meetup group or something like that.
Both the crab and its caviar are both delicious and edible. So you can eat what you harvest. Otherwise, whatever you catch you are legally required to destroy. You can't even release little ones you find. They can live for weeks outside of water, so the best way to destroy them is to freeze them and then smash them with a hammer. They make wonderful garden fertilizer, as well, if you're a gardener like me.
If there's enough interest, I'd love to be able to help tackle the problem of other local invasive species. Is anyone here aware of other species in Oregon that are presently a threat?
Thanks for reading!

Meetup Roe v Wade Protest Tomorrow (Tues) 5PM outside Federal Courthouse in Eugene
Thought it might make sense to start a separate thread for this for clarity. This march is being called by the Women's March in response to a leaked draft showing the US Supreme Court intends to overturn Roe v Wade. There will be marches all across the country at courthouses at the same time.

Meetup Women's Social Club -- Any Interest?
UPDATE: Let's do a Women's Social Meetup Saturday, April 8!
Location: I'm thinking either Public House in Springfield or Hey Neighbor! Pizza House in the Friendly Neighborhood (605 W. 19th).
Public House has lots of options and space, and Hey Neighbor does as well, but since it's new to the 'hood, there's not a lot of people there and I bet a big group could get a table. I'm also totally open to other suggestions!
Time: I'm thinking noon, or maybe 2:00 p.m. What do other folks think?
Also, I'll make another post the week of to announce it again and remind people.
~~~~~
Hello fellow Eugenians,
I've seen some posts about a Men's Social Club and it seemed like there was some interest in a Women's Social Club. I'd like to meet new people. Despite living in Eugene for about 2 1/2 years now, I haven't made too many friends partly due to the pandemic but also because I work from home. So I'd love to meet new people and get out of the house, too! Anyone else interested? Thoughts on where people would want to meet and when?
Edit: I've edited the flair. No idea how it posted with Moving as the flair.
Meetup Eugene native looking for good people interested in tech.
Hi everyone! I'm a 30-year-old married guy with lots of hobbies but finding fellow tech enthusiasts in Eugene has been tough. I'm into computers, AI, quantum field theory, and hypothesizing future tech. Are there any good ways to meet locals with similar interests? My other hobbies don't quite align with tech. Any leads appreciated, looking forward to connecting!
Meetup DND game
I'm launching a beginner friendly DND game here.
Any interested players will play as part of the Delkane city watch as they keep the city safe.
Delkane is a high altitude, cliff side, largely subterranean city built around the ability to store things. Money, food, knowledge, even people. If you want to keep something safe, keep it in Delkane. In a world with rare magic and technology reminiscent of the bronze age, the system of freezers, vaults and laws in Delkane makes it invaluable to the region. Your job as the watch is to make sure Delkane lives up to its reputation.
I've got base characters for the first session so the group can play as recruits and decide after if they want to join regularly.
Meetup People of similar interests?
Hi! 22F just moved here 3 weeks ago and am taking a break from school to get residency so itās a bit harder to make friends than I thought.
I recently picked up guitar, I hike, poorly skateboard, and enjoy a solid day of thrifting and walking. So far WOW Hall is the only music venue Iāve been to, so if you know any local live shows Iād love to tag along! Feel free to PM me (I know itās weird to ask Reddit for friends but ignore that red flag)
Meetup European Green Crab Update Thread
Hi there! Yesterday, I posted to gauge interest in helping with the invasive European Green Crab situation in Oregon (https://www.reddit.com/r/Eugene/s/qMwtK3bdbe) - and I'm so excited to report that there was a lot of interest! I can't possibly express my gratitude to all of you, or my excitement at knowing I'm not the only one who cares about the negative ecological impacts of invasive species in our beautiful state. Thank you all so much!
My current plan is to wait for answers, then I'll start a Meetup group and possibly even a new subreddit! In the meantime, I'm curious if there are any people out there who are inspired to help me organize for procuring clamming/crabbing licenses and/or rideshares for those who need them, people who can donate or share crabbing equipment, etc. etc.
I will continue to update this post as I have more information, so please continue to check back. š¦
1.19.24 1:00 pm: ODFW asks that citizens with questions email them rather than call. I just sent a rather lengthy email with many of our questions, and I'm currently waiting for answers. Please stand by!
1.20.24 3:00 pm: I haven't received a reply yet from ODFW, which I kinda expected. If I don't hear from them by Monday afternoon, I will give them a call. Thanks for your patience, everyone!
4:00 pm: Sent a DM on Instagram to the ODFW Conservation feed. Waiting for a reply.
1.25.24 9:00 am: Unfortunately not much of an update. I got an email saying my inquiry has been forwarded to one of ODFW's public information officers. So, still waiting to hear back. Thanks for your patience, everyone!
Meetup Tips for starting a social group
Hi friends! You may have already seen me posting about the group Iām trying to start, Eugene Creation Exchange. So far we have done jewelry making, collage, movie night, paint by numbers.
Iāve found that Iām putting in a LOT of effort into planning events, inviting friends and anyone I run into that might be interested. I make event posters, reserve venues, buy all necessary supplies. I donāt want to give up, but I feel like Iām doing something wrong!
Itās been fun, however weāve had an inconsistent turn out each time. How do I get the same people to come back? Also, Iāve had lots of trouble getting members to participate in discussions about future events, their availability, etc. I donāt want to make this a chore and I totally understand that people have busy lives, but I guess I just had different expectations.
I could use some tips from people who either have experience in coordinating group meet ups, or what youād like to see as a group member. Thanks for your help in advance!
Meetup I broke my wrist and don't know anybody up here
Howdy new neighbors! I'm having surgery Thursday for a broken wrist. I got rides arranged to and from, but I'm going to be off work for a couple of weeks with nothing to do, nowhere to go, and no friends to kill time with. I need a right-hand man... literally.
I doubt I'll be up to much fun one-handed, but I'm in a pretty fragile emotional state and need some people willing to be a makeshift support network. Need a Netflix binging partner? A beta reader for your novel? A charitable cause for the winter holiday season? I might be your girl!
About me: I'm a 33 F, tragically heterosexual nurse from Texas. Fully vaccinated and fairly left of liberal, and brand new to the area (hence not knowing anyone). Please hit me up! And if you need favors in about 6 weeks, I'm happy to help you out as well. Sorry to come in begging; I'm used to being the one offering help, not asking for it
So join us if you're looking to meet new people and connect with the wider community.
As is tradition, I'll have our janky sign out so you can find the group.
Our group does other socializing as well, and our Crafternoons (afternoons...when we do crafts) have been of particular interest. Join our discord for information about other meetups, including Crafternoon. https://womens.eugenesocialclub.com/
