ISO Local Business Sponsor
I am ISO a local business that would be interested in working together to sponsor my Brat Behavior variety show I produce, perform, and host at at Sparrow and Serpent every month or two.
This is something that's important to me and I have tried to keep afloat after being laid off and struggling to find work. I would love to be able to pay my performers a good pay and make things more enjoyable for the audience.
I am a hermit outside of my drag and just crochet and continue school constantly so I don't have many connections.

Marcola Meadows
Hey all! I was wondering if there was anyone in hear living in the marcola meadows development? Hows the builder? Is it worth it? With their price range and willing to finance at lower than market rate it seems like one of my few choices to buy a 3bd/2ba without living way far from town.

Where to purchase reusable masks?
We've switched houses this year and lost some things moving around and need to restock our reusable masks. I know Down to Earth and Market of Choice have a small selection still, but does anyone know of other locations in the area that might have some options?
Thanks!

Any ace/spec demisexuals around here? It’d be alright to run into one or two of yous if I were out and about. Like, just knowing there are others in this community would feel validating. I wouldn’t necessarily need to hang out, but that’d be chill, too.
I’m just wondering maybe how many other asexuality spectrum individuals I might randomly find myself running into on a yearly basis. Do we have at least a percentage point around here? I bet it’s more than 1% around Eugene. Also, I am asking broadly asexual spectrum, but if you specifically identify as demi/ace I’d love to hear from you.

Multiple gun shots
Definitely heard gun shots just now at or around Washington Jefferson park. There was two initial shots back to back 15 seconds of silence and then four or five rapid shots.

Best way to make money? DoorDash? Uber eats? Instacart?
Hi I just moved to Eugene and am looking to do some delivery work while I’m in my job search. I am wondering which app seems to be the best to deliver with in Eugene? I know in some places DoorDash doesn’t get hardly any business or vice versa, would love any insight anyone can share. Thanks!

Best place to get brakes done
Looking for an honest place to get my breaks done that also won’t break the bank.
I have run into issues with being taken advantage of because I’m female. Shops assume I don’t know what I’m talking about and try to charge me more than what the work is worth or say other things are wrong or this or that. Haven’t been to shops in years because I do work myself and don’t want to deal with unfair treatment.
Single struggling mom trying to keep up with car maintenance. I do as much work as I can when I can borrow tools and have a place to work on it. Just don’t have the time right now and there’s work that needs to be done.
Breaks, possibly rotors, need new tires, block somewhere in the air filter system because the defrost vents by windshield don’t work, a/c doesn’t work might just need fluid? No clue really where to start there, need new battery, also loud noise when I turn on the car coming from area by foot pedals under dash - I found a part I could replace but not sure if it does need to be replaced. Also crack in rear wheel well that needs sealed so rain draining from top doesn’t get stuck in there and cause moisture issues inside car.
Minor annoying things I’d like tended to eventually if I can or willing to pay a shop if they can tend to these other issues fairly and honestly.
Any recommendations?
Vehicle is hybrid - might matter for a/c issue. Never worked on ac before so kind of clueless there.

News trust atty
Any older redditors out there with experience setting up a trust and writing a will? Searching for recommendations for one who isn’t going to take what little money I have to hire. And who is experienced with complex family estate issues. Thanks!

Moving Oral cancer
I'm 70, but when I was 67, I was diagnosed with tonsil cancer. It is a sexually transmitted disease which kids are vaccinated for now. I received 10 weeks of radiation and 7 sessions of Chemo. I lost my taste. The things I loved like beer, chocolate, sushi and foods that I loved to cook tasted repulsive. I continued to cook because as a single Dad I still had 2 kids at home. (I didn't have children untill I was 46 and then 48). While the radiation saved my life it wiped out my thyroid, constricted and scarred my throat muscles, and scarred the muscles which control my opening and closing of my mouth. It also led to the extraction of 8 teeth prior to treatment and 2 years later at 70 all of my teeth. I'm now in the process of getting new teeth which takes about 9 months. But..... the bright side is, I got most of my ability to taste back. It's like heaven. Looking to hook up with others who have gone through this. BTW. The thing that kept me going and my focus was moving to Eugene Oregon from Illinois. Moved here a month after I got the feeding tube removed from my stomach. Best decision I've ever made. Love you guys.

So what is it going to be?
"...an executive for the owners tells Eugene Weekly to expect news on the building by January. “We’re working on something that will have positive re-use of that property,” says Jon F. Hanson, chairman of New Jersey-based Hampshire Real Estate Companies. He won’t elaborate much."

24 hours kiosk?
Has anyone ever used the self-service 24 hour kiosk at the post office after closing? I’ve read some post offices that do have the kiosk, leave their lobbies open after closing specifically and only for that purpose however I cannot imagine they do that here. I have a small package of perfume with a pre-printed label that I need to ship within the next two days, it won’t fit in the blue collecting box. I work graveyard shift so going to the post office during normal hours is an option. It’s just kind of a sacrifice for me. Any advice would be helpful thank you.

Activism Discovered tons of microplastics all along the beach today north of Florence, the worst I've ever seen
My friends and I visited the coast for a new years hike along the beach and we discovered swaths of tiny microplastics particles washed up all along the shore. It was literally everywhere. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but maybe as a solution we can talk more about outright banning plastic usage again this year? There's gotta be something we can do.

Secure Parking Recommendations
I have over incurred over $10,000 in damages in under 1.5 years at the Parcade garage (while paying $60 a month) due to the soft top on my car being sliced open multiple times; repairs on the car take upwards of 6 months, leaving me without access to a car. I just heard from the body shop that the repairs (from an incident in July) are complete. I am hesitant to park the car back in the Parcade, because it will be a matter of weeks/months before it is vandalized again.
I am looking for alternative solutions. I see that some storage facilities offer parking for cars and wonder if anyone has any recommendations? Any other ideas are also appreciated. I live downtown so facilities within walking distance would be ideal. It would also be nice if I could stay around the $60 mark as I already have that budgeted for my monthly permit to the Parcade.
I know I could sell the car but I am 6mo-1yr from completing my degree and moving out of Eugene. This car has worked well for me in other housing situations, but it is clearly not compatible with downtown Eugene. Finally, I have tried all of the obvious solutions: NOTHING in the car, car unlocked, frequent movement, parking under cameras, ect. It also goes without saying that EPD will not do anything except file a police report, even with video evidence of the perpetrators.
Thanks all for your help and happy new year!

Eugene Marathon Fundraising
I am trying to commit to running a half-marathon this year and saw that Eugene has a marathon in April. I cannot afford the registration costs, but there is an option to fundraise $250 for a charity organization to cover all the costs. I want to hear about people's experience fundraising if they have been successful advertising in Eugene. It also seems kinda close, but I am willing to put in the work to raise the money if this is a common thing. Also, if I cannot raise everything, would I pay the difference or outright not eligible to run? Thank you for any suggestions!

Moving Louisville -> Portland or Eugene?
My wife and I (both 30, no plan to have kids) are planning to move to Oregon, and visited Portland for a couple weeks in December as a test run. Loved it even through all the rain.
We didn't get a chance to visit Eugene, but are considering it primarily for:
- Access to natural sights, parks, hiking, etc.
- Relatively cheaper than Portland
- Smaller city, may be an easier adjustment going from KY to OR, having never made a cross-country move before.
Some info about us: - I'm a remote developer, so no need to worry about finding work. - My wife needs to see a healthcare specialist twice a year due to some genetic health issues, and regularly needs to fill some important prescriptions. I saw a comment where this can be a struggle in Eugene, and would be curious about others' experiences. - We plan to stay in an AirBNB for a week or 2 while we find somewhere to rent long-term. Eventually may look for a house, but for now looking to rent. - We love being around nature, and want to be able to garden. - I like to make electronic music (Ableton + Elektron gear). - We are a couple of nerds; we'd be more drawn to libraries/universities than we would bars, if that tells anything.

Flyer Friendly Businesses
I need to put up flyers for an event at the school where I work. I'm still relatively new to the area and I'm wondering if there are any places in town known for putting up flyers and having pretty decent traffic?
I'm from a small town, so coffee shops, etc that would support the arts would be kind of the idea. I just don't want to go to places (like I did last year) where the employees will take them but the boss will never put them up. I also want to avoid grocery stores where they have bulletin boards but no one will ever see them.I have a limited number to hand out and I want them in the best places as possible!
Thank you in advance!

Does anyone have any good ideas for meeting friends around here?
I'm in my mid forties and female. I'm working from home right now and work doesn't seem like a good place to make friends anyway. I've lived in the area for all my life and people have came and gone. So I really don't have anyone to hang out with, other than my partner, it would be nice to find other humans to hang out with. It kinda seems like no one wants new friends or is too busy. I'm kinda shy too which doesn't help. I don't really drink and I don't think bars are the best for making friends either. Anyway, I've blabbed too much already 😆 So I guess I'm just looking for tips on activities or ways to meet new people. It's kinda scary honestly.
