Road trip tips: Portland - Winthrop - Leavenworth - Portland in late April

We're making a loop trip up through Tacoma (pit stop) to Winthrop to visit some friends there for two nights. From Winthrop we're heading to Leavenworth for two more nights, then back to Portland via 82 & 84. Last weekend of April

Questions: 1) What places are a must see/do in Winthrop? 2) Anything we should definitely check out between Winthrop and Leavenworth? 3) Same for Leavenworth, what is a must see/do?

We're fit and into hitting the trails. It'll be too cold for water recreation but probably not snowy anymore, or so I'm thinking - am I wrong about that? We also love art, music, food, and unique cultural experiences. And a good thrift shop.

The Dalles, Oregon is across the river and some yellow Balsam Root is blooming on the hillside to the right. I took this a few years ago traveling on HWY 14 in Washington.

Looking for a motel for a music video shoot.

I already posted this in /Washington but I’d be willing to travel to Oregon or Idaho for the right location. But I’m looking for a seedy motel for a music video shoot, bonus points if it has a neon sign. Hoping the community can help me out with this search. I have included a screen shot of my Pinterest board for examples of the aesthetic I’m looking for!

Thanks in advance y’all!

What are your favourite parks?

I hope to travel to this area one day, but i'm not too familiar with any parks. What are some awesome national (if there is any), state and just small parks in this area that are a must see?

Lucky  #A5663030  4yr Neutered black and brown Doberman Pincher mix 91 lbs. Owner surrender on 11/11/24 reason landlord   Meet Lucky, a charming and affectionate dog who's ready for a new chapter in life! Lucky is a medium-energy, calm dog who has a relaxed demeanor when interacting with people. He has a gentle and soft approach, often soliciting petting and enjoying attention. Lucky walks with a strong pull on the leash, but once he's settled, he coexists peacefully in the yard, though he may need some help with socialization. Lucky is friendly with other dogs, but he can become focused and occasionally lunges at certain dogs, so he may be best placed in a home with calm dogs and adults who can help him continue his training. He enjoys exploring new environments and often marks his territory while being playful, though his behavior can include mounting, which appears to be sexually motivated. Luckyresponds well to firm corrections and is easily steered by his handlers. Lucky’s health is generally good, though he has some minor calluses and cuts on his right elbow, which appear to be from past wear. He is tolerant of handling and shows comfort during exams, though he can be slightly tense when his hind legs are palpated. Lucky is ready for an experienced home where he can thrive with continued socialization and guidance. If you’re looking for a loving and social companion, Lucky could be the perfect fit for your family!

Lucky is available for adoption to a home with adults only, and he would do best with calm, large dogs. He has a medium energy level.

Help choosing job location

Hi everyone! I was hoping to gain perspective that I have been unable to find so far in google and reddit searches.

I am from the Southeast US and my husband and I decided it was time for a change, so I applied to family medicine programs throughout Oregon and Washington. I thought I would have an easier time deciding on exact location based off the quality of the programs, but with interviews complete, I had an unexpectedly high number of really solid programs and have no idea how to rank them.

The way the process works is I rank every single program I interviewed at, and they rank their applicants, and then we are "matched."

These are the locations of my top picks: Oregon- Milwaukie, Roseburg, Hood River Washington- Vancouver, Spokane

If we could have everything our way, this is what we would want: - nearby airport (so Roseburg takes a hit here but wondering if it would be worth living there for other reasons) - able to walk/bike to get most places like work and grocery store - decent public transit and sidewalks - 4 seasons, sunny days in summer and snow in winter - Proximity to national parks - less wildfire smoke because I have asthma

I may be able to visit some programs in February but not all of them. We spent a month in the Portland area in August and loved it for the walkability, climate, and culture.

Thoughts? If it were you, how would you rank these locations? Thank you in advance for any input!

Traveling to the PNW

I love Seattle's vibe and the beauty of Mt.Ranier, as I have traveled to the PNW for work many times. From the Space Needle and Mopop to hiking the Grove of the Patriarchs, I really enjoy what I have seen.

I am planning a summer trip 9-12 days, flying out from NJ to Oregon? or Seatac?

I would love to take in a few National Parks, maybe span from Oregon to Vancouver. Stay in a vrbo for a few days to chill and enjoy the surroundings but do some driving and stay in a few hotels to make it all work.

Trying my best to pack in as much as possible, but again, get a few days to enjoy it and chill somewhere and not make the vacation a nonstop sprint.

Where are the must sees for the family that hasn't visited the west coast? What towns are a can't miss? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

edit: to add insight, itll be July/August and we'll be traveling with a HS and MS aged children. They have done some 6,7 mile hikes, but that is NE hiking, which tends to be flatter.
