Camas vs West Linn vs Corvallis
We’re planning to time our move to align with our kids starting high school, and we’re considering West Linn, Camas, and Corvallis (Crescent Valley High). How do these places compare for high school-age kids?
Based on reviews and rankings (like those on Niche), West Linn High, Camas High, and Crescent Valley High seem to have similar academic performance and course offerings. However, I’m particularly interested in personal experiences with these schools. For example, how effectively do they address issues like drug use and bullying?
Another consideration is the community environment. It seems like West Linn has some more densely populated areas (like around Safeway) where making friends and hanging out outside (doing sports or visiting each other) might be easier for high schoolers. In contrast, Corvallis and Camas seem more spread out. If anyone has insights into how this impacts teenagers’ social lives or sense of community, I’d love to hear about it.
EDIT: Thank you all for your responses! I had similar posts in West Linn and Corvalis groups, and several Redditors shared similar experiences about West Linn being snobbish. Did not expect that.

Body Cam Footage from Council member John Svilarich Gun Brandishing/Felony Incident
Body cam footage of the harassment and gun brandishing incident involving Camas City Councilmember John Svilarich is over on the Camas Matters Facebook page If anyone wants to check it out:
https://m.facebook.com/share/v/19dKY5AnBQ/?mibextid=WC7FNe&wtsid=rdr_0T72HbxDODBmcBNla
A few of my own takeaways: - Svilarich wasn’t very cooperative with our police; he comes across as very arrogant and like he’s hiding something - It’s clear why charges against him were upgraded to felony - He needs to be recalled. As voters, it looks like we got this one wrong. This isn’t the character we want representing our interests (personally I don’t think he cares about us tax-paying residents anyway, he’s tone deaf and just wants to spend our money for us without input).
Give it a watch and make up your own minds! Share feedback if you have it.

Moving home after being abroad for 2 decades
As the title states, I'm moving back home to camas from Northern Europe, somewhere close to grass valley. The plan is to rent for the first 6 months or year and see from there.
I'm curious about people's budgets? I've done research elsewhere and asked family, have made a spreadsheet but it'd be nice with feedback to fill in. We are a family of 3, 2 millennials and an 11 yo little girl.
My proposed monthly budget so far is, holler if you see something totally off or that I forgot to include.
3k rent Utilities and internet/streaming about 400 Car we will buy in cash... Car insurance (1 modern but used car) 600 Health insurance 600 Food 1500 Activities/miscellaneous 1000 (we ski/snowboard, bike and travel a bit) Phone plans 150
Total before Investments etc 7250.
This sum looks both low and high to me tbh so any feedback is welcome. TIA!
I will most likely have a company car provided so gas an insurance for the other car i just put at 600

im very bored
Im almost 17 and i do school completely online, does anyone have any advice on ways to get out and make friends or things to do? My family has been urging me to join a club/group so i have socialization, since i got like one friend, but im not finding anything thats actually fun or anything thats for people my age?
I enjoy alot of music, playin video games, im a nerd about the environment and animals and i love art, (and i adore baking!!) so its not like i only have one hobby. I cant find any advice about how to make friend at my age that isnt "Sit with a new person during class or lunch!" and that is definitely not gonna happen.

Medical care in Camas
We are considering a move from a big city to Camas. Wondering how you feel about access to medical care in or around Camas. Do you often find yourself driving to Vancouver or PDX for medical care instead?

Camas bars/restaurants for drinks during Holiday Weekend
Very familiar with our short list of Camas bars and restaurants and like most of them but wondering from any of your experiences in past years during this time of year, is there one or two you might recommend - our family group this year is small but they come from the east coast and they are obsessed with trying as many brews possible but also enjoy a well made martini lol - Any suggestions?
