Ty Cobb’s golf tourney prize Likely Solved

My wife found this at a thrift store here in the Bay Area. She was going to melt it down and make some jewelry and I said no way. I did the research and found the archived newspaper talking about this golf tournament. He participated in and this appears to be what he won. No idea how it ended up at a thrift store but the country club is also local.

How did that end up at a thrift store, was it just taking up space at some point?

Boomers are dying after years of collecting shit. A lot of it's worthless but there are always odd gems. I'd have donated this without knowing, especially if it was mixed with a bunch of other stuff.

My parents have already started telling me things to not get rid of. It's insane. They have a 8,000 dollar chair and apparently a bunch of valuable fabric etc.

Boomer possessions are the best! They don’t want it and the items don’t owe them anything so if they spent a couple hundred or more on it and you’ll take it, they’ll GLADLY give it to you if you just haul it out! It’s not like they’re going to start an eBay account, take measurements and list it.
