News Biden to Further Limit Nvidia, AMD AI Chip Exports
bloomberg.comPresident Joe Biden’s administration plans one additional round of restrictions on the export of artificial intelligence chips from the likes of Nvidia Corp. just days before leaving office, a final push in his effort to keep advanced technologies out of the hands of China and Russia.
The US wants to curb the sale of AI chips used in data centers on both a country and company basis, with the goal of concentrating AI development in friendly nations and getting businesses around the world to align with American standards, according to people familiar with the matter.
The result would be an expansion of semiconductor caps to most of the world — an attempt to control the spread of AI technology at a time of soaring demand. The regulations, which could be issued as soon as Friday, would create three tiers of chip trade restrictions, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the discussions are private.

Discussion Buying the RGTI Dip? Stop. Think.
People hyping up the dip on RGTI seem to be ignoring the elephant in the room: a single, casual comment about quantum computing from a tech CEO wiped out 50% of RGTI's share price overnight. Let that sink in for a second... half the market cap gone, not because of earnings, not because of product failures, but because of words.
Now ask yourself: what does that say about what was propping up the $18+ price? Spoiler: It wasn’t the underlying financials or fundamentals.
So why are you buying back in? Are you seriously betting that Jensen walks back his comment? Or are you hoping another big-name CEO decides to contradict him just to boost this stock? Because that's a pretty wild gamble when you think about it.
This isn’t about a calculated investment anymore... it’s about FOMO and denial. Some of you don’t seem to want your money. Just remember, markets can stay irrational a lot longer than your wallet can.
TL;DR: Be real with yourself before buying the RGTI dip. Is this a strategic play, or are you just coping?

Discussion Quantum stocks today
Quantum stocks have plummeted today due to Jensen Huangs speech. He said that quantum computing is still 15-30 years away.
I agree with this statement but not entirely. I think quantum computing is closer than we think. Personally I think Jensen Huang is saying this out of fear. NVIDIA will become obsolete once quantum computing truly hits the market. The power of quantum computing is incomparable compared to GPU’s.
I think this dip is a great opportunity to buy going into the future.
The issue with GPU’s is the amount of energy they need to work. Which is why people are drawn to companies like OKLO or SMR to solve this energy issue. But quantum computing will be super efficient reducing the massive need for all this energy.
But yes there is still an energy problem regardless. The grid is growing day by day as people switch to more sustainable methods, EV’s etc.
To conclude I think quantum computing is the future and I am bullish on quantum stocks.
Specifically IONQ I’m in for 135 shares at an average price of 23.93

Discussion Why Market fell
For anyone wondering why the markets fell sharply last night, So the answer is: better than expected economic data. Sounds a bit illogical right? Why would good economic data cause the market to go down?
So to get the full answer you have to go back in time to 2008. In 2008 there was a great subprime crisis (caused by excessive borrowing and a disproportionate increase in the value of assets - a bubble that burst) which caused the collapse of mainly financial businesses and also damaged the rest of the companies. As a result, the goverment want to restore the economy, the central bank started printing money in order to help the economy. It worked very well for quite a few years, Until the corona arrived in 2020, during the corona the printing and distribution of money accelerated and caused an increase in prices, For the simple reason that when money is printed excessively, the value of money goes down and prices go up. In order to deal with the price increase, the central bank in the USA raised the interest rate. (Interim note - the interest rate is the main reason for investors in the stock markets that they will aim for it to be as low as possible). The interest rate hike hurts the economy and demand and thus lowered the prices. Right now in the markets, investors are expecting interest rates to be lowered, but the central bank is afraid to lower it too quickly, for the reason that if it goes down too quickly, prices will rise again.
When there is better than expected economic data, this indicates a strong economy and then the central bank will slow down the rate of interest rate cuts so that prices do not rise, so investors fear too good economic data.
In conclusion, economic data is better than expected = a slowdown in the rate of interest rate cuts. That's why last night the markets fell after the publication of the economic ones.

Discussion Ally Financial pivot away from Mortgage origination + CVNA deal = doubling down on subprime lending
I don't know much about finance, but want to learn more. I don't know if I am connecting the right dots here or if I am off base. These things seem to be connected.
So Ally is shutting down the mortgage lending side of their business a day after their renewed partnership with Carvana is announced to purchase $4 billion worth of loans from them. This seems like they want to focus on subprime loans from Carvana and others to maximize profit off of big interest rates over (now) extended periods of time for those with bad credit. Risky, but potentially lucrative. This news was released today along with the news that $49 billion worth of medical debt will be erased from millions of borrowers reports. This means that it will be even easier to issue even higher loan amounts to the same buyers who can't afford them. Is this enough debt erased from credit reports to cause a bubble or will the credit industry adjust the threshold of a "good" credit score? Could this significantly impact the numbers that CVNA posts for this quarter? This seems coordinated and a perfect storm to further cook the books.
Do these things mean anything or am I just misunderstanding what is happening here?
I have 140 and 150 strike 1/31exp puts against CVNA right now (if that matters).

Discussion Quantum Over Reaction
I think today was an insane overreaction of a terrible statement. Obviously, quantum computing is far out, that’s not new. And the fact that this statement decimated RGTI, IONQ, and pretty much everything with quantum in the name is bewildering to me. I bought more IONQ today to lower my cost average and plan to hold very long term. However, the fact that the statement wiped out 50% of some companies market value makes me worry that it was overhyped. Regardless, I believe this correction was gonna happen eventually but we’ve OVERcorrected.
