Question Should I buy factorio with the dlc?

Hey, im thinking of buying factorio, but i dont know if i should buy it directly with the DLC, or if i can first play the base game and then if i like it, buy the dlc and play it. The DLC add some things like quality change to the base game or it is totally apart?

Question The main bus at beginning?

Hey , I just started Factorio 2 days ago . I was playing Mindustry for a while .

In Mindustry we have unlimited ore etc... So with my friend we created a base each with 2.4B (circle radius 12, in this case we don't have a big output even if we extract the whole circle so we still need to extend it) of coal , stone , iron and copper to have a good start .

My first "factory" attempt was a red/green science All of my belt are good it's not "Spaghetti things" 🤣 But is Main bus the best thing to do even at beginning?

Some of YouTube videos said "Not even all player build a main bus , but it's a must have"

Thanks all.

PS: Sorry if I made some mistakes , I'm french 🥖

Space Age Question Lack of additional Sulfur nodes on Vulcanus?

https://preview.redd.it/5ardm2nnj8be1.png?width=1710&format=png&auto=webp&s=45c585bda4c1c379464fad80154d88aab71d8696

Anyone else have this issue? I have explored out what I would consider decently far, and the only other sulfur nodes I have seen is the two that I have circled in green. It's not an immediate concern for this save as it is currently a combined yield of 18,679% and I'm at mining productivity 34 (340%), so I'm sure it would be a long time before I "ran out" and/or outgrew the output. But I'm just confused why I haven't seen any other nodes spawn.

Googling around, the only comments I see on this topic was way back when the developer was talking about the design of Vulcanus and the terrain types... and it sounds like the "mountain volcano" areas should be where the sulfur spawns, as you can see I have exposed quite a few "volcanos" and no additional sulfur :(

Did I just get an unlucky map spawn? or was this intentional that you would only get a limited amount of sulfur spawns on the planet forcing you to import those resources eventually?

Edit:
I went back and slowly rescanned my map, and there is two other spawns I overlooked because they are quite small (especially in comparison to the first two they give me.

One in the top left-ish, is 9 nodes, and one in the bottom left that is 3 nodes... If I have to expose that much map just to get 12 more nodes, this is a lot of exploring I will need to do.

First time in fulgora and I spawned in this tiny island is this normal or Im just really unlucky?

Space Age You really can unf*** almost anything...

When I landed on Fulgora, I made my cargo landing pad in... let's say "the wrong spot." You can see it in the top right of the first picture.... Needless to say, I made the mistake of leaving and never coming back, without having rectified this. In the second picture here, you can see why this was problematic lmao. I had no idea this was happening for the past 30 hours while on Vulc/Gleb and now Aquil. I realized my bots were running full time due to my storage "strategy" (I love yellow chests), but I'm stranded on Aquilo and can't simply ship the bots here haha.

What did I do? I built a tank, construction bots, and filled the tank up. Able to get rid of the original cargo pad and put it on the "main" portion! It's crazy I was able to do that. It obviously took some thinking, but I love that I could do it haha

Space Age Question Every one here is having fun with rockets while I’m still stuck in the base game, and I have questions.

The DLC is expensive so I have been trying to think ahead. 1. If you already beat the game in a previous save in vanilla will updating it to SA corrupt it or ruin the balance? 2 What planet should you go to first to get resources to continue my goals of space travel. 3 Are fish good against the Gleba enemies? 4 Are robots on the starting planet. 5 Is the railgun good?

Question My petroleum and light oil is switching constantly!

https://reddit.com/link/1huhhnh/video/9n1rnk8rq8be1/player

why tho? I made circuit network that switches making solid fuel from petroleum to light oil depending which one is bigger in quantity, and it does that. I thought at first that chemical plants transfer liquids but that's not the case. Can I ask for your help?

Space Age Question F*** Gleba

Hey fellow engineers. I’m about 60 hours into my space age run, and I’ve heard from various YouTubers that Gleba is the worst of the planets, so I delayed going there until after Fulgora and Vulcanus. However, now’s the time I have to go, and I went, and I legitimately cannot get ANYTHING done without things spoiling, since you need nutrients to do anything. Are there any tips you have for me to just kickstart my science to get the heck off this planet? If it helps at all, I’ve unlocked everything up to agricultural science and am comfy with my resources and my ability to send stuff TO Gleba, obviously just not FROM Gleba yet.

Question Doing my first steps in Factorio with inserters setup, let me know your thoughts

I am just starting factorio and I am having fun doing basic setups with this ingredients;

A: Inserters.

B: Long-arm Inserters.

C: Assemblers

D: Boxes.

Here is my Gearbox setup:

https://preview.redd.it/wr7x5wa0g6be1.png?width=887&format=png&auto=webp&s=658800d8e08763dc032b94ef20fefab2694cfc27

and here is my red science setup:

https://preview.redd.it/rc174a6ud6be1.png?width=897&format=png&auto=webp&s=bbd093f036df2ef06779f3eee51ea3dbba6feb13

and here are my miners setup:

https://preview.redd.it/uby499wbf6be1.png?width=732&format=png&auto=webp&s=0d3749c08596b79b967002be05f3bad8b692fac8

https://preview.redd.it/se4h08wbf6be1.png?width=541&format=png&auto=webp&s=6dedb66582fe36ba977a8abdc6782ad7f27f74e0

So I have several questions;

1: I am feeling comfortable doing boxes for now, and just refill them once every X minutes to make sure the setup keeps running.
am I being EFFIECINT for early stage of the game or do I commit a terrible EFFICIENCY crime which I need to commit a seppuku for ?

2: I figured out how to handle an assembler that accepts 2 inputs inside it,
as you can see from my red science setup, I have put
1 input belt that is fed using normal inserter
1 input belt that is fed using normal inserter
1 output belt that is fed using a long-arm inserter

the question is - how do I handle a 3 item input setup ? or worse, 4 or 5 input setup ?
how do I arrange the belts so they manage to feed 4 or 5 inputs ? there is no physical space for that ?

3: any tips for this stage of the game ?
especially in how to manage the belts in the factory ?

Question are you often pasting blueprints in your save?

I saw and still see people talk alot about how they start pasting and letting the drones work for them once they reached blueprints. Im just automated purple science now with only white science to be automated and I didnt find myself using blueprints that much. Am I alone on this? I feel like im missing something big.
