High Protein Meals Graphs & Data

Post image

I've seen a couple of things about insulin response, but is there a specific reason for high protein spiking blood sugar? Is there a point where I should start bolusing for Protein as well as carbs?

Gluconeogenesis is where the body converts non carbs like protein and fat to carbs. Yes youll have to increase your dose for dense protein foods.

Lots of protein rich foods have carbs like eggs. If you’re on a no carb diet protein can be converted to carbs. Eating even a small amount of carbs cancels this process.

Thats basically what gluconeogenesis is but yes a portion(person pending) of carbs can switch you back.

The thought of chasing lo carb diets only for your body to change other things into carbs is hilariously diabetic to me.

Yes exactly. But you assume op is in the Gluconeogenesis state which may not be the case here. But certainly it could be.

I doubt OP is eating eggs for protein. You can trigger gluconeogenesis just from dense protein(like 15g-25g) foods regardless of diet.
