High Protein Meals Graphs & Data

Post image

I've seen a couple of things about insulin response, but is there a specific reason for high protein spiking blood sugar? Is there a point where I should start bolusing for Protein as well as carbs?

I bolus for protein and fats (at about 1/3 what I would bolus for carbs) if there is a substantial protein and/or fat component to my meal.

I'm guessing this is just trial and error, but do you find there's a point at which you'd start considering additional Bolus?

A common rule of thumb which I've heard is that protein needs bolus in two situations: 1: When eating a low-carb meal. 2: When eating huge amount of protein at once (e.g. a high-protein, moderate-carb, low-fat meal).

My personal experience is that protein is converted to glucose if it exceeds about 50% of carbohydrate in a meal. But I'm sure this varies a lot by individual.

This is brilliant advice OP take what this dude said and use it, exactly the way i’d go about it to.

This seems to trend with my experience in these situations. Thanks!
