Is my ol' NES Toast?
Hey all!
So, lemme give you the quick rundown:
My Dad had an NES from when he was in College and gave it to me about 10 years ago. I cherished it and protected it with my life, and as time went on, it got harder and harder to read games. Sometimes it would take 4 tries, other times 20. A few months ago I opened the old thing, gave it a good dusting, cleaning with isopropyl and a toothbrush, and boiled the 72-pin connector. After that, it seemed to work first try, every time!
Jump to now.
I just got Mickey Mousecapade, and was super stoked to try it. I put in the game; flashing red light. I tried again; same thing. After 10 tries of nothing, I thought maybe the game was toast, But then I tried the rest of my games (Rad Racer, Blades of Steel, Mario/Duck Hunt, etc.) and couldn't get a single game to load.
When I look up how to make an NES work better, the best answer is boiling the connector, so I'm unsure what to do now. Do I need to get a new motherboard, or what?
Technical details:
These are the symptoms I get:
-Most often, turning the NES on results in the flashing red light.
-Other times, the red light will be solid, but I will just have a black screen.
-VERY OCCASIONALLY will a game actually play as usual (Mario/Duck Hunt seems to have the best luck)
Recent fixes I have attempted:
-boiling pin connector (roughly 4 months ago)
-Cleaning motherboard with isopropyl
-Using mild metal polish on motherboard connector for 72-pin connection (seemed to be a bit of oxidation on it, so I thought I'd give the polish a try)
Is my NES done for? Help!!!!!!!

Dreamcast problems - picture and disc drive?
I also posted here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/dreamcast/comments/1hzxaf5/is_my_unit_a_dud/
My Dreamcast seems to have some quite mild, but annoying issues.
The picture doesn't seem overly clear no matter what cable I use (including an hdmi adapter), the picture seems slightly dark and there are very faint horizontal lines moving up and down the screen. I also notice something in crazy taxi. Backgrounds occasionally aren't loading in to keep up with the speed of the taxi, leading to some awful pop up that I know didn't used to be there.
Any thoughts? Do I need to just replace the console?
Tia.

8Bitdo Ultimate C (not 2C) - compatible control stick replacements?
My 8Bitdo Ultimate C has a badly drifting right control stick which is outside the configurable dead zone in Steam and is not resolved by recalibrating the controller. This is the Ultimate C, not the 2C, so it does not come with Hall effect sticks. I don't want to throw out a controller I've owned for barely a year whose only issue is stick drift when I've fixed the same issue for other controllers in the past, but I can find zero information on what kind of stick replacements would be compatible with this controller. I honestly don't even care if the new sticks would be as expensive as just buying a 2C; I don't want to create unnecessary electronic waste.
Is anyone able to point me to control stick replacements usable with the 8Bitdo Ultimate C, or at least let me know how to confidently determine that a replacement kit will be compatible? If I can just grab some GuliKit sticks meant for another controller type like Xbox or Switch Pro that would be great, but I have no idea how to determine this. Hall effect sticks would obviously be preferable so I wouldn't have to do this repair again for a long time, but beggars can't be choosers.

ps5 disc drive not recognising disc
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Bought this ps5 just over a year ago (so no warranty), didn’t use the disc drive until I thought let me actually put the disc drive to use and bought the game. It makes this clicking sound when I put the disc in and the PS5 shows no indication that its aware there’s a disc inside.
Wanted to ask what the problem might be related to and would it be worth fixing?

Nes artifacts and bad game play
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Just bought this nes console, guy said it worked 10 year ago. Mario bro/duck hunt game doesn't work, but tested several games i had. 3 games i tested all did something like this. All games deoxit was applied. On the console, it was pretty clean inside, lightly sanded the 72 pin and board with 1k grit sandpaper and applied deoxit. The gameplay results are the same. What do you think it is?

PS5 shutdown and artefacts
Hello all,
The console turns on and off and when it’s on I have these artefacts.
What your opinions on the origin and possible repair?

Small Steps
galleryOne of the most satisfying feelings ever of fixing your first device.
My Xbox Controller was plagued with Stick Drift and managed to strip the controller down as my first attempt.
Also managed to fix the more severe Stick Drift in my PS4 Controller alongside a now working L2 button.
Can't wait to take apart my Nintendo Switch for a button repair and my Series X for a long needed cleaning.

PSP 1000 motherboard missing contact for analog
(Stock image above, not the actual defective board) I picked up a PSP 1000 off marketplace hoping for an easy fix.... Upon inspection, the mobo is missing the top square contact where the analog stick component makes contact. There is no easy way to fix this other than get a new mobo off Ali, right... ?

Ps3 not reading disc's cech 20 vs 25
My old ps3 cech 25xx no longer reads disc's I bought another which is a cech 20xx, was wondering if it would be worth it to repair the old one or just run the one I just bought and pros or cons to either? How hard would the repair be?

Only USB 3.0 cables work on my Switch
Hi
So I have a hacked V1. It works for typical things but I encounter weird problems when using USB 2.0 cables.
- I can't write to the device using homebrew (ie. copying files to the switch). It just hangs. I can copy stuff from the Switch to the PC without issues.
- Dock USB ports do not work. Like a switch pro controller cannot pair using the dock
- Strangely, using a USB 3.0 OTG cable then connect it to the pro controller, it will work when connected to the switch
- SD card works okay using a card reader.
Any way to fix this? Have multiple hacked Switches and non have this issue.
I am thinking maybe the trinket installation I did is causing the issue. It's connected directly to the 2 USB data pins, gnd and the designated 3.3V. I did not attach the joycon points since I use auto rcm but my other switch with the same setup is okay.

Greetings, I wanted to ask if I could deal with a problem with a PS ONE, it does not read discs, I tried with a reader that was good, but it turns out that the resistance of the pot changes whether it is connected or not (reference image) Is there any component, or Is the specific chip causing this?

ps5 flew during crash
I was in a car crash today ( everyone and every kitty is fine just a little sore ) And my ps5 ended up outside the vehicle from the trunk and landed in the snow, is there any chance it will still work? Or anything I can do to save it possibly? I haven’t turned it on yet and probably will wait a few days to even try to turn it on. Any suggestions or tips will truly help 🫶🏽

Looking for ac power connector replacement on a Sega Saturn
I've got a sega saturn with the ks350-1401 h031/04 power board and the ac power socket's plastic is broken where the screws are supposed to hold it in place. Everything is still functional, but I fear that plugging and unplugging the power cable from the console will cause the connector to snap off. I've found out the part number is an EDK power connector with the part number AC-M09PB42 but I can't find any place to purchase one from. Does anybody know of any repo or store where I could buy one of these to replace mine?

What is this pad called? Antenna connector?
Not sure how it happened, but I need a replacement part for the wifi/Bluetooth connector (F side) for my PS4 Pro 7215b. The other ones are fine and do not look like this. I'm not in an environment to solder and remove, so I'm also looking for pricing too on a job like this. Thank you!

Weird DSI Screen Issue
So, I managed to buy a used DSi XL 25 Year Editon in really good condition. But, there is one issue a noticed and I am wondering if anyone could help me.
Sometimes, when I turn the system on, the backlight on both screens flickers with some lines for a few (15?) seconds and then goes back to normal.
It almost never happens when I turn it on for the first time. But almost always happens if I reboot the thing (or turn it off and imediatelly back on).
Also, the very edge of the screens feel a little bit less bright, not like the "CRT", shadowy, or stained ones i've seen posted around, just a very slightly darker.
Those issues don't bother me too much, but I am wondering if they will get worse over time, or if there is something I can do to fix it. Also, would you guys recommend getting a screen replacement part while it is possible to find them? It would be just to keep it as insurance in case the problem gets worse. (They are getting quite hard to come by where I live)

DSi XL cartridge reading problems
gallerySo my childhood dsi has been having issues reading cartridges for the past few years. I have to insert and take out the cartridge a few times before it detects it. When it does detect it, it’ll stop reading and the game will crash/freeze after a few hours, sometimes days if I’m lucky. When this happens, rebooting the system either reveals that the cartridge is no longer detected or it still shows the game, but booting into it shows an error message. I did manage to open it up to take a look, but as someone with zero experience repairing electronics, I have no idea what to look for. Any assistance would be appreciated.
