Heck ,even the bs press conferences are very similar to the way they obviously lied to everyone to avoid panic; this is just "more of the same "just 70 years later !(edited for quotation mark)

There’s already people saying these are just planes lined up to land at Reagan airport
My thing is just, okay, no matter how many videos get posted of planes, or actual regular drones, or AI, or light effects from camera angles, etc
SOMETHING IS HAPPENING
Airports aren’t getting shut down for no reason. People aren’t reporting strange things every day for no reason. The fuckin government isn’t out hunting down the “drones” and not able to offer any clear answers on what they are and why they’re here for no reason

The "just planes" narrative reeks of classic "weather balloon" style disinfo. This serves two purposes: A, it gets people to distrust their own eyes and ears, and B, it gives people a chance to act smug and superior over "those idiots hysterical over planes". If this mentality catches on en masse, the phenomena is thus dismissed through sheer social pressure

No. These aren't UAP they are UFOs. Nothing anomalous about their behaviour.
Also this video doesn't even show evidence that they are stationary (as the cameraman keeps proclaiming) -- they could be moving towards the camera from a distance with a headlight pointing in their direction.
Did they get out flight tracker and verify that there were no aircraft in the direction they were pointing their camera (miles away for example)?
They might be stationary. They might be drones. They might also be ordinary aircraft. This is just another inconclusive data point
52
u/Hirokage 14d ago
Anomalous has nothing to do with behavior. Aerial was changed to Anomalous solely because it did not account for underwater phenomena.

Keep in mind DC is one huge massive no-fly zone (even for military unless a damn good reason). I worked in DC for a decade and can only remember seeing a plane once or twice in the city.

The footage was captured from the top of the Union Station parking garage, which is opposite the capitol building from the airport. At night, distant planes with their lights on can look like they are standing still. One of the lights looked like it may have been a military helicopter, which is not uncommon around the capitol, considering Marine One is the preferred mode of transport over motorcade for the president.

u/fade_ 14d ago
The no fly zone for drones is 10 mile radius which extends past crystal city. This is only for for us peons though. Commercial flights to national get waivers and obviously military.

12
u/Suspicious-Ball0311 14d ago
Yeah they are full of shit. Those are helicopters, they fly 24/7 and the airspace is loaded with commercial and military craft. Only over certain sensitive sites is there a no fly zone and its only a flight ceiling, so you can still sly over at altitude, just not below a certain threshold. Not sure what it is now but when I was stationed out there I believe it was 1,200 feet limit over the whitehouse and dod.

u/HolyGhost_AfterDark 14d ago
It's a hundred percent planes. The potomac river is behind the capital which is the flight path for Ronald Reagan Intl. Airport. I have a flight path for Intl. Airport by my house and I guess I am just used to seeing this but I am also one who looks up constantly and likes to plane spot. It's almost as if people just never paid attention before so now they are freaking out when they see planes which can look different at night. Also depending what angle you are looking at them because you will see different patterns of lights based on the angle. They can also appear to be flying slow or hovering especially at night when there is less of a refrence point.
39
u/Leonard-E-Boy 14d ago
This is exactly 90-99% of pics/videos ive seen. Planes and helis. Yes i believe theres some number of anomalous shit, especially in hot spots. But theyre military drones etc. apparently people have never viewed the night sky until now. The amount of satellites/planes/helis i see posted is dissapointing. People catch onto the trend and think every light in the sky is a ‘drone’

I live a mile from a small airfield and 30 miles from a major international airport, so I see a lot of different types of air traffic from big jetliners to small private planes, helicopters, balloons and even bizarre stuff like powered parachutes. As much as I’m used to seeing all these things, every once in a while something at night will look weird at first and I perk up and keep watching but then it gets closer or turns and it becomes obvious what it is. I think a lot of people are having that first moment of “wait what is that” but don’t understand how normal things look at different distances and perspectives.

A frightening amount of Americans don't know one of the following (or all 3): The moon orbits the earth, the sun is a star, the moon is sometimes visible during the day.
I've encountered these people. "The sun is a star????" Their brains are going haywire as they try to understand it. Grown adults, otherwise successful people too.
Is it the education system? Lack of curiosity? I think part of it is also that so many people live in cities and suburbs now so there's almost no visible stars. If you're in a place with little light pollution, you're naturally going to look up at the night sky more often because it's beautiful.

It is most likely planes landing at Ronald Reagan Intl. Airport. The flight path is right behind the capital over the potomac river. When planes at night are flying right at you with their landing lights on it looks exactly like this and they will appear to be hardly moving almost hovering. I know this sub is sick of everyone saying planes but the problem is a lot these of videos are planes. People need to be checking flight radar. It needs to be a requirement you post time and location and a screen shot of flight radar or something because it's getting ridiclous. I want the truth as much as anybody but claiming every light in the sky is a drone or UAP is not helping.

This looks like the view of the capitol from Union station.
Meaning the view is facing south.
Guess what’s south of the capitol?
Ronald Reagan International Airport.
Edit: assuming I’m right, this likely means the lights are at least 10 miles away from the camera.
The capitol is about 0.5 miles from Union Station
I’m just adding this as a frame of reference. It’s incredibly difficult to gage where and what an object is when all you see is light

I have a stream of planes that fly adjacent to my house from an airport south of me. Its just one after another right. Just 15 minutes ago I was outside and saw the brightest light i’ve ever seen. Looked like it was floating there for 5 minutes. It was just a fucking plane coming dead on… Looked exactly the same as those lights. They are bright af.
Edit: In fact, if those lights are from the south of the capitol, then I am willing to bet those are the same damn planes flying by house cause I'm south of of Raegan lmao.
37
u/tony_shaloub 14d ago

Yep.
I've lived near various airports at different times throughout my life. Flight paths can be very weird-looking. Thanks to perspective, it can often appear that planes are hovering when in fact it's just very difficult to detect their motion due to where you are and where the plane is and the direction in which it's traveling.

My apartment window faces south from NW DC, and I watch the planes come in all night. This clip has been posted before. I take pics of this and send it to my friends as "UFOs" as a joke. I am looking at a light right now out the window, lol. This is normal air traffic. I wish people would stop posting this.
If the "drones" appeared in DC honestly it would be difficult to tell because there are so damn many helicopters etc flying around all the time

20
u/ez4u2remember 14d ago edited 14d ago
Bingo! And why don't they appear to be moving? Bc the runway is north south oriented, as is union station to the US Capitol.
I just went on ADSB and at the exact moment I took that screenshot, there are three planes that could be an excellent example. Two on the left incoming, one on the right outgoing.
28
u/Paraphrand 14d ago edited 14d ago
It’s so predictable at this point. More “orbs” that are landing lights. And another shot pointing right at an airport.
19
u/RW8YT 14d ago
yes, planes these days land (for the most part) with something called ILS, instrument landing system. They tune to a specific frequency, and input some basic information (barometer readings from atc) and it lines up the approach vector, and lands a perfect glidescope every time.
90% of these “ufo” videos I have seen have just been planes lining up to land like this.
3
u/YoloWingPixie 14d ago
ILS isn't really relevant. Any aircraft with VNAV and doing any precision approach (Whether it be RNAV, ILS, VOR, etc) will follow a specific descent angle will generally appear to end up in a conga line with the aircraft around it because it's doing the most efficient descent possible for the restrictions of approach. Additionally, pretty much every major airport uses Standard Terminal Arrival Routes or STARs to coordinate how aircraft get from their cruising routes (which btw are also on marked jetways) to the approach.
The concept of aircraft following each other and appearing coordinated with each other is a thing we've been doing since radio navigation in the 1940s. It's not new, people just don't look up.
4
u/Koboldofyou 14d ago
I'm from DC. This is taken from union station looking south (slightly west) over the capitol. That is 100% where planes line up when landing at DC coming from the south. I see them in a line there often. And this entire post is fucking stupid.

That would require them to wipe off the greasy smudge on their camera, instantly giving away it's a clearly visible plane coming in.
245
u/texas1982 14d ago edited 14d ago
This video was taken from just north of Union Station in Washington DC. If you draw a line from that point to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, it will pass just to the side of the capital building. What is special about the bridge? It’s directly under the final approach path for runway 01 at Reagan National Airport (DCA).
You’re seeing airplanes landing at DCA. They’re flying nearly directly at the camera so they look stationary. A 20 minute time lapse will show probably 10 or so of these lights follow the same path.
Occasionally a few may step off to the side as they circle to land on runway 33. But it’s rare.
24
u/lifeofthunder 14d ago
Yeah, this is accurate. I made a map here in my comment on UFOB. This is one of the most heavily regulated airspaces and approach patterns in the world and is very recognizable to anyone familiar with DCA's approach and final. https://www.reddit.com/r/UFOB/comments/1heg4yu/comment/m23uc34/

I can vouch for this. I thought I saw "drones" because the lights were stationary like that. I even checked flight radar and didn't see anything around me. BUT when I zoomed out on flight radar I could see planes. They were literally 60km away but their landing lights were on and it was a clear night so that is why they were visible at such a great distance. I was able to figure they were all headed for an airport behind me. The lights hung in the air for literally 10 minutes before they finally came close enough for me to see the blinking anti collision lights and realize they were planes. FWIW I absolutely 100% believe in the drones in NJ and I believe in aliens. I just do actually think this looks like planes from maybe 20km away headed for an airport right behind the person recording this.
