Movies chapter 8
First time star wars viewer here, i Just finished chapter 8, please no spoilers for the next but im a little surprised by all the hatred of it. I thoroughly enjoyed it and while I did become annoyed by luke’s failure arc at first I think it was well done. Luke was someone who focused entirely too much on the potential “future” and his potential moment of lapse of judgement when almost killing his nephew was not something that felt out of character for him. I think his redemption at the end of the movie felt well built up to. The only complaint I have is that it felt disconnected to the previous movie but other than that I dont see any glaring issues with the film that would warrant the hate. Perhaps I feel this way watching them all for the first time and missing out on the nostalgia factors but just curious on why people feel this movie was “so bad”. ( I will say the “chrome dome” comment by finn was cringy but for the most part, the comedic relief wasnt that bad)

TV The Acolyte Youtube Ads
Since the beginning of Christmas holidays, The Acolyte has been promited heavily on Youtube and continues to be so. Is this show really dead? If it was, I don't think they would spend the $$$ on promotion, so perhaps a s2 is still possible? Thoughts?

Books If the Zahn SW books were made into movies, what parts would you keep or drop?
If Disney decided to redo the followup trilogy and use Zahn’s books as the material to work from, what parts would you keep or drop.
For example, I like that Luke ended up in a relationship. But I recall there was a whole book where it seemed like he was mostly in a cave. The romance was goid but the cave would have to be reduced or dropped.
Another example, Han and Lando end up on a space cruise ship. It would be cinematic for sure. Keep or drop?
It has been a while, but I recall thinking the story was better than the latest trilogy. Maybe it could be a series on Disney+.

Merchandise Anyone interested in old merch?
If you live near Lakewood CA, we are having a moving sale this weekend at 6042 Pimenta Ave. I don't know what this subreddit's policy is on garage sales, but simply put, we have an unreasonable amount of Star Wars merch on hand. Several boxes full of the stuff. It would be a shame if no interested parties caught word, so I thought I'd give this place a shot. If this post gets taken down oh well, just thought I'd reach out. We open tomorrow and the next at 7:30 AM.

Movies Sabine and Ezra reuniting and Ezra being back
Am I the Only one who was underwhelmed at the scene of Sabine and Ezra reuniting after years of being apart? The sabine I know would jump and hug him at first and punch n scold him for leaving the way he did. Sabine literally dedicate years of her life finding Ezra and was so desperate to find him to the point she gave up the map to Baylan Skoll and basically bringing back Thrawn to the known galaxy.
And what do you think Ezra will bring to the table now that his back? Correct me if I am wrong but at the end of Ahsoka Ezra and Luke are the only Jedi left or jedi and Ezra still a padawan. I'm really curious on how powerful Ezra is now or if he became stronger, his strong with the force or atleast with the creatures that are with the force. We see it time and time again like the Big Frynock, lothal wolves and won the battle of Lothal with Purrgils.

Movies Probe Droid Inquiry
Can anyone put into text the noise imperial probe droids make? I know there’s plenty of speculation behind the garbled english that’s actually being spoken, but I mean… Give me your best shot at putting the noise into text. This was my first and only attempt: “amni boon ban tun” This is wrong. Please type something that looks right :)

Movies Rogue One nitpicks
Just been watching Rogue One again. Overall I think it's a great wee film. Simple concept very solidly executed with some beautiful visuals. Incredibly moving finale.
I like the cast and characters. K2SO is probably my favourite Droid character outside of R2-D2. There are a few things that stop it being perfect.
My biggest grumble and it's not a huge problem it's the set-up with the recapture of Galen Urso and the death of Lyra. It feels like such a senseless death, why did Lyra not stick to the plan? I can't help but think she's reckless beyond belief running back to help Galen, especially as Galen is in absolutely zero danger. He's too valuable to the Empire to be killed at that point. Even when she does she's indecisive, like Han she should have shot first if she was going to try something to prevent them taking Galen.
Given the film quickly moves on its easy enough to forget but every time I watch Rogue One I find that scene jarring.
I quite like the internal division within even the official Rebel Alliance, Cassian being given a secret order to assassinate Galen rather than capture. However once the Death Star weapon has been confirmed it makes no sense really to double down on that order. I know he might in theory be developing even more terrible weapons but given they just confirmed the Death Star and the power they saw confirmed it's somewhat closing the stable door after the horse has bolted to kill him now. The Death Star is operational and it's too late to prevent by killing the designer when you have another plan involving using him in a way that could potentially rally support.
I would note I suspect there is no realistic way Mon Mothma could get Galen Urso into the Senate to testify but he would still seem to be someone more useful alive than dead to have.
As much as I love James Earl Jones you can tell his voice just isn't quite right due to his age. Whatever the fancy new technology they used for Obi-Wan I think would make his speaking scenes better.
The only other minor issue I have is the CGI Leia is very uncanny valley but for a very short scene it's not too problematic. I wonder if they could ever improve on it in the future? I personally found no issue watching CGI Tarkin, his less smooth feature's seemed much more realistic to me.
It's absolutely my favourite Star Wars film outside of the OT and looking forward to season two of Andor which is by far the best of the TV shows for me as well.

General Discussion How many people knew that Anakin was Darth Vader?
I've just finished watching Ahsoka, which I really enjoyed, and a couple of characters have made reference to the fact that Ahsoka was trained by Anakin Skywalker. In one of the middle episodes, one of the New Republic senators (I forget which one) makes some comment about Ahsoka's actions being unsurprising given her master. Are they just referring the fact that, as a Jedi, Anakin had a reputation for bending the rules and working outside the Republic's systems? Or do they know more about what happened to him after the Clone Wars? (In other words, did Luke or Leia reveal to other people in the Rebellion who Darth Vader was?)
Then, in the final two episodes, Thrawn makes remarks about Ahsoka following in the footsteps of her master, which I think strongly hints that Thrawn knew what happened to Anakin. Was it known among the higher-ups in the Empire that Vader was Anakin Skywalker? Did Thrawn discover that on his own somehow? Or was he also just refering to Anakin's reputation from the Clone Wars?

Movies Rank, Authority, and Ships Within the Empire?
I'm doing some fan writing for the later Legacy era, and I was wondering if anyone might want to assist me? In Empire Strikes Back, we have the fleet flagship of Death Squadron; the Executor Super Star Destroyer. Militarily speaking, so please exclude Darth Vader, who was actually "in charge" of the star dreadnought, and its crew? We have Admiral Ozzel, but I'm uncertain if he was actually in command of the ship he was aboard, or the whole squadron, or just the mission, and these were assets he could make use of? we have Captain Piett, who I suppose does get promoted to Admiral after Kendel Ozzel's "accident", but is he in charge of the ship? Does the Executor receive a new captain, once Firmus Piett gets his field promotion?
I don't want to bore other people with my tedious writing, but the episode starts out with the recently coronated Emperor Marasiah Fel, on the bridge of her flagship; and Imperious-class Star Destroyer I have yet to name, surveying a part of her territory, when they discover some Ssi-Ruuvi; a bad subfaction of which are going to be the big bads for the story. Even with the ship being the current location of their Emperor, I personally subscribe to the idea that your average Star Destroyer hardly needs an escort/support fleet, so I was assuming it would be by itself. To me, that would mean no sitting admiral, since admirals usually imply a fleet action, and no fleet is present, but then I don't always know how Star Wars military, or real military, work, so here I am. Would this Imperious SD "just" have a captain? Would a ship of its size, and importance, have an admiral, instead? Would a visit from such a dignitary drag an admiral out, since a "simple" captain might not be used to interacting with their emperor?
I know this is kind of silly, and pointless, but I guess I want my writing to be accurate, so I thought I'd check and ask. Please have a good one!
