Movies There really is no “original versions” of the OG trilogy
Okay so you have the theatrical cinema releases in various prints with stereo and mono sound releases, VHS copies that have an altered opening for a new hope and probably different aspect ratios and colour grading, in the 90s you have laserdisc releases with an altered pacing and a new sound mix, the updated VHS versions of this time also has this mix with THX. Then you have the 1997 special editions with countless changes released in the cinema and VHS for the last time. The DVD release in 2004 with more changes and digital clean up to controversially tie the films with the prequels more, this version is known for its poor colour grading. The 2011 blu ray release with some digital additions but nothing major apart from Vader screaming “nooooo” (obviously a goof from George Lucas) and the new and hopefully last blu ray/4k blu ray release with the addition of greedo saying mclucky.
As for the supposed original cuts your viewing options are now limited. You have old VHS tapes, the 2006 DVD bonus versions (horrendous quality, restored opening in a new hope but they are not truly theatrical), and many fan made despecialised editions which are not 100% accurate being something of a hybridisation of older releases and the special editions restored to 4K but are the best options if you don’t have OCD with visuals and colour timing etc. Disney should scan an old print in 4k of each of the films and be done with it, release them on Disney+ and 4k blu ray as a collectors edition it would sell like CRAZY and be so redeeming countless people grew up with these films.

General Discussion Thoughts on Skeleton Crew? 8/10 imo.
Watched all 7 episodes, so far enjoying it.
Some of the episodes feel like fillers (like 6th ep) and don’t really add anything.

General Discussion Try Star Wars Hunters, it’s a great free game!
We need more players! I’m new to the game, but a lifetime SW fan. It’s a very solid pvp shooter that can be played on your phone, tablet, or Nintendo switch. It’s kind of like Overwatch, only it’s set in the Star Wars universe. Its free to play, but it has microtransactions for impatient people. It’s not pay to win as you can earn almost everything through gameplay. Its in my top 10 SW video games of all time, but I am also a pvp shooter fan. There’s a surprising amount of depth to the gameplay and the use of squad tactics to win.

TV What if Satine was still the ruler of Mandalore after Revenge of the Sith
Do you think Vader would have targeted her to get to Obi-Wan, same way Maul did in canon ? Would the emperor allow it ? Mandalore was a neutral system, was the empire powerful enough at that point to go against it ?

Movies What if Force Awakens was different
Even though Force Awakens is the best individual film out of the sequel trilogy, it is a big reason the other movies failed. Resetting the world back to rebels vs empire was a huge mistake for the legacy characters. Even the casual fans like myself knew after watching TFA that this diminishes what Luke, Han, and Leia did in the original. If rebels vs empire is where we want to get back to, fine, but let's take some time in the first film to see how their mistakes caused this to happen. So here's my general outline.
- Open scenes involve Luke at his Jedi Temple training Ben & Rey. Ben is similar to ROTS Anakin as in he knows he powerful, but feels he is being held back by Luke, which opens the possibility of him seeking new avenues about the force. Rey is like young Anakin, full of optimism, charisma, but is cocky, which open the possibility of her making irrational decisions that have severe consequences. This allows us viewers to connect with the new and appreciate the old characters as this is all centered around Luke.
- Next we focus on Leia who is a prominent senator, just like her mother, helping rebuild the republic. At this point in time she has nearly banded all the systems back together, but it's all loosely held together. During a galactic meeting, representatives of new systems are complaining about a group of criminals, lead by a mysterious sith, stealing and ravaging their homes and resources. This conflict creates division and will damage all the hard work into reforming the Republic, so Leia is left with two choices: Find a diplomatic solution to stop these criminals and risk systems leaving or show a "hand of force" and put an end to these criminals and the systems will "buy in" to the Republic.
- Leia decides she needs Luke's help to stop this mysterious Sith, but Luke refuses to get involved with the Republic as he believes that's what caused the Jedi to fall and the Sith to rise last time, but Ben and Rey convince Luke to reconsider as Rey points out, "what's the point of training if we aren't going to use our gifts to help people."
- Luke Ben and Rey travel to a potential target and do some good ol' detective work like Obi Wan in AOTC. The eventually track down the mysterious sith, a female force user (essentially Darth Talon with a different name). Rey's lack of patience causes the sith to flee, leading to a cool chase scene with Rey (Ben follows). Talon leads Rey into a trap and her "storm troopers" open fire. Ben begins slicing and dicing a bunch of the soldiers showing he's bad ass, Rey fights Talon and wins the saber battle but is outclassed in force powers. Poe comes in (ordered by Leia) with his ship and helps Ben with the "storm troopers", but Talon escapes.
- Luke is upset by his padawan's impatience, reiterating that they were not ready, and the 3 Jedi go back to the Temple. Rey and Ben are upset with Luke because Talon used a force ability (Force Freeze) to escape and they couldn't defend themselves properly because Luke isn't teaching them everything he knows. Ben and Rey begin to lose trust in Luke and decide they are going to find Talon by themselves without Luke's knowledge.
- Talon is searching for things to build a new death star so her and her master (Snoke) can overthrow the republic and rule the galaxy. Rey and Ben have another encounter with Talon that ends with Rey getting captured. Talon takes her to Snoke and he uses force mind tricks to find where Luke's temple is. Ben goes back to Luke and explains what happen, upsetting Luke even further.
- The final act involves Snoke and Talon invading the Temple, and turning Ben to the darkside. Ben's identity is hidden up until this point and it is Snoke who tells Ben he is a Skywalker and will teach him how to unlock his full potential. Since Ben's relationship with Luke is "rocky" at this point, the turning point for him switching sides was Luke never telling Ben who he is. So Ben switches sides, kills a bunch of Jedi, forms his knights of Ren, and destroys Luke's temple. Rey escapes from Snoke's ship and defeats Talon, but feels guilty because she led Snoke there. Snoke and Luke have an epic 1 v 1 that ends in a stalemate as Snoke knows he can't kill Luke, so he occupies him while Ben destroys the temple.
- Snoke gets his death star, his new apprentice, and destroys the Jedi temple. No Han in this film, as he'll be in the next. Finn would be one of Talon's trooper that switches sides and helps Rey escape and his arc would involve becoming a Jedi as Rey teaches him throughout the next films
There is much more I can go on about, that I left out, but I am curious to think what you guys think of the basis of this idea. What works, what sucks, what would need to be revised.

Other Best order for watching Star Wars
Ok so I’m a new fan. I literally know nothing about Star Wars except for like the popular pop culture stuff. I decided though to finally sit down and see what all the fuss is about. Problem is im not sure we’re to start. When I looked it up a lot of sights suggested different ways (like chronologically or by release order.) But even then the movie orders differed between sights. So I guess I thought it could be nice to ask actual people their opinions on what they think the best order is!

General Discussion How many people knew that Anakin was Darth Vader?
I've just finished watching Ahsoka, which I really enjoyed, and a couple of characters have made reference to the fact that Ahsoka was trained by Anakin Skywalker. In one of the middle episodes, one of the New Republic senators (I forget which one) makes some comment about Ahsoka's actions being unsurprising given her master. Are they just referring the fact that, as a Jedi, Anakin had a reputation for bending the rules and working outside the Republic's systems? Or do they know more about what happened to him after the Clone Wars? (In other words, did Luke or Leia reveal to other people in the Rebellion who Darth Vader was?)
Then, in the final two episodes, Thrawn makes remarks about Ahsoka following in the footsteps of her master, which I think strongly hints that Thrawn knew what happened to Anakin. Was it known among the higher-ups in the Empire that Vader was Anakin Skywalker? Did Thrawn discover that on his own somehow? Or was he also just refering to Anakin's reputation from the Clone Wars?

Movies If we watch only movies, is Count Dooku a villain?
We don’t see him commit really villanous acts. He just talks about the Republic being corrupt, he looks just like an ambitious politician, but not an evil Sith Lord. He fights Obi-Wan, Anakin and Yoda then at the beginning of Ep 3 he fights again and is killed (a pity that such a great actor was used so little). He doesn’t even have yellow eyes

Movies Rogue One nitpicks
Just been watching Rogue One again. Overall I think it's a great wee film. Simple concept very solidly executed with some beautiful visuals. Incredibly moving finale.
I like the cast and characters. K2SO is probably my favourite Droid character outside of R2-D2. There are a few things that stop it being perfect.
My biggest grumble and it's not a huge problem it's the set-up with the recapture of Galen Urso and the death of Lyra. It feels like such a senseless death, why did Lyra not stick to the plan? I can't help but think she's reckless beyond belief running back to help Galen, especially as Galen is in absolutely zero danger. He's too valuable to the Empire to be killed at that point. Even when she does she's indecisive, like Han she should have shot first if she was going to try something to prevent them taking Galen.
Given the film quickly moves on its easy enough to forget but every time I watch Rogue One I find that scene jarring.
I quite like the internal division within even the official Rebel Alliance, Cassian being given a secret order to assassinate Galen rather than capture. However once the Death Star weapon has been confirmed it makes no sense really to double down on that order. I know he might in theory be developing even more terrible weapons but given they just confirmed the Death Star and the power they saw confirmed it's somewhat closing the stable door after the horse has bolted to kill him now. The Death Star is operational and it's too late to prevent by killing the designer when you have another plan involving using him in a way that could potentially rally support.
I would note I suspect there is no realistic way Mon Mothma could get Galen Urso into the Senate to testify but he would still seem to be someone more useful alive than dead to have.
As much as I love James Earl Jones you can tell his voice just isn't quite right due to his age. Whatever the fancy new technology they used for Obi-Wan I think would make his speaking scenes better.
The only other minor issue I have is the CGI Leia is very uncanny valley but for a very short scene it's not too problematic. I wonder if they could ever improve on it in the future? I personally found no issue watching CGI Tarkin, his less smooth feature's seemed much more realistic to me.
It's absolutely my favourite Star Wars film outside of the OT and looking forward to season two of Andor which is by far the best of the TV shows for me as well.

Movies If Vader really wanted to rule the galaxy with Luke
All he had to do was not light his sabre to block Luke striking down Palpatine.
So why didn't he?
