Winter hikes for beginners
Hello! New-ish to hiking, and hoping to keep it up in winter. Are there any safe trails/hikes where I can try out spikes and/or snowshoes?
Alltrails ranks Nambe Lake as the most popular trail for snowshoeing, and I want to try it out once. That said, I'm pretty new to hiking and would very much like to stay out of the news.

New Mexico Dream Center-charity or fraud?
The New Mexico Dream center and CEO Shelley Repp, claim to be a charity fighting human trafficking, however, there are several instances of native women and transgender women complaining two authorities that this organization has traffic and exploited them. After the documents I have found regarding a very odd situation involving a blind transgender woman that was evicted by Shelly rep on the grounds that this blind transgender woman was a danger to the neighbors. The eviction was okay by the judge but the blind woman missed the court date because Shelly turned the power off and the internet off and the woman's apartment so she couldn't make it to court on time. I really hope the FBI is doing something about this if not they're useless.

Random sewage-type "organic" smell on the southwest side of town?
I recently moved to La Cienega and I'm trying to identify the source of a seemingly random sewage-ish smell. It tends to blow in a few times a week, usually around dawn or dusk. My first thought was maybe the septic tank on our property, but our tank is essentially brand new, so it shouldn't be in need of service just yet. Also, there are days where I feel like I can smell it as soon as I get to the 599/Los Pinos area, so it doesn't seem to be localized to my house specifically.
Am I going crazy?? Or is there something nearby that might be producing this smell? It's not a big deal either way, I'm just curious if anyone knows what might be going on.

Driving to Ski Santa Fe
Hello, I’m visiting at the end of January and was curious on driving to the mountain from town. I’m aware it is a 30-35 min drive but wanted to gain more color on the typical conditions / difficulty of the drive (i.e. do you need a 4wd or is FWD sufficient)?
Additionally, i see that the 255 mountain trail route goes from town to the mountain, is that a good / reliable option? Any tips for taking the bus (do I need to get to the stop early, etc.)? At face value, the bus seems like an easy way to avoid the parking headache of the mountain.
Any tips are welcome and I’m overall looking forward to spending a couple of days on the mountain as well as exploring the town!
Thank you in advance

Auto Upholstery Recommendations?
I'm wanting to either have my center console lid reupholstered, or completely replace it. I'd like to compare prices for local reupholstery before I bite the bullet on buying new parts. Does anyone have recommendations for an upholstery shop that might be able to match materials and re-cover this lid? I'd prefer to stay in Santa Fe, but am willing to bring it down to ABQ or up to Española, if those are my only options. Thanks for any recs!

Every Allsups Smells Terrible
I don't know if they changed their fry oil or something but over the past year I have gone into get a receipt or grab a drink and when I walk out and get back into my car I can smell the dirty grease on my clothes. Maybe it was always like this and I just noticed? I'm astounded that people can work in that place and not get sick from that toxic smell.

Big Moving Sale! Up first: Sound system/music stuff
I am moving cross-country and unfortunately going to need to downsize quite a bit.
You can pickup by me (near Tune-Up Cafe) or I can drop off anywhere within Santa Fe city limits.
First up are various parts of my sound system:
1. Sonos CONNECT:AMP
Play amplified music in any room of your house with this Sonos CONNECT:AMP. The device packs a built-in amplifier with an output of 55 W per channel. It connects wirelessly to your home LAN through any router that broadcasts 802.11b/g at 2.4 GHz or via standard 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface. This Sonos CONNECT:AMP features an anodized aluminum case, which cools the amplifier but also looks good in any decor.
I use this little puppy to power not only streaming devices (like my Sonos One, see below), but also my passive speakers (Bose 141s, see below) and my turntable (U-Turn Orbit, see below). It is very versatile and gives you access to the best of all music worlds: analog and digital! Connect everything from your passive speakers to your CD player and turntable, then add Sonos speakers around your home for multi-room listening. The latest version of this device sells for $700, which is insane. You cannot beat the value of the original CONNECT:AMP. All cords included.
EXCELLENT condition
$100 (sells for $120 and up on eBay)
2. Sonos One - *sold*
Elevate your home audio system with the Sonos One Wireless Speaker in sleek black. This speaker boasts a single speaker configuration and a cylindrical shape, producing great sound -- including good bass response -- in a very small package. Enjoy wireless and wired connectivity options, including Bluetooth, for easy streaming of your favorite tunes. No Alexa on this model, so you won't have anyone "listening in"! Power cord included.
EXCELLENT condition
$40 (prices are all over the place on eBay, but usually about ~$50)
3. Bose Bookshelf Speakers
Selling a pair of Bose Model 141 Bookshelf Speakers, 10-80 Watts, 4-8 Ohms. The price-to-sound-quality ratio of these little speakers is unbelievable. Another small package that delivers a much bigger sound experience than you can imagine. I love these speakers and hate to see them go, but c'est la vie.
EXCELLENT condition
$40 (usually ~$50 on eBay)
4. U-Turn Orbit Plus Turntable in Red with Built-in Pre-Amp - *pending pickup 1/8*
Up next is a LIKE NEW U-Turn Audio Orbit Plus Turntable with added Built-in Pre-Amp in a striking red finish. This turntable has been extremely well-maintained and is in perfect working condition. It comes with its original dust cover and felt mat, as well as all cables. The sound quality is excellent, perfect for any vinyl enthusiast looking for high-fidelity audio. I added the optional built-in pre-amp so I could easily allow for direct connection to the line-in input on the Sonos CONNECT:AMP.
Features of this turntable:
- High-quality solid hardwood plinth (red finish)
- OA3 precision gimbal tonearm with one-piece magnesium armtube for accurate tracking and low distortion. Features internal anti-skate and adjustable counterweight.
- Ortofon OM5E cartridge with elliptical diamond stylus for well-balanced sound.
- Grooved acrylic platter for improved speed consistency and more detailed playback.
- External belt drive eliminates motor noise and ensures speed stability. Manual speed change (33/45 RPM).
- Built-in Pluto 2 Phono Preamp.
- Easy-to-use on/off switch and simple operation.
- U-Turn's best-selling turntable.
- Sells for $479 new.
Includes the original dust cover, felt mat, and all necessary cables!!!
This turntable is in like new condition, with basically no signs of use. It is fully functional.
$345 (usually about ~365 on eBay)

Feel free to message me directly if you are interested in anything here or have q's.
I have more pictures of all of these items, btw -- just ask.
All other questions are ofc welcome, but please don't haggle with me on price. I've done my homework and feel good about where these prices are. I take care of my stuff, and all of these items have always been in a non-smoking environment, to boot.
The one exception I'll make is if you want to bundle a bunch of these/all of things together, then I will consider lowering the total price a bit.
This is my entire current music listening set-up and it's simple yet satisfying and has worked great for me!
Cash, Venmo, or Zelle when we meet.

Does Santa Fe have any Afrobeat dance opportunities?
I know about the Railyard African dancing classes, but I assume this is more drum beat dancing.
I’m looking for more of a afrobeat/club vibe. Doesn’t have to be a club environment, just somewhere they play the good dancing music. Not sure if this even exist here but thought I’d ask.

What’s the deal with Dunkin?
The dunkin on St Francis is always jamming and I want to know why? I’ve never been inside because it looks pretty ran down and the drivers are always the absolute worst in the city going in and out. So, what’s the deal? How is such a shitty place so coveted here?
