Jobs Jobs 2024!
This is a reenvisioning of an older hiring / looking for jobs post from 2017 (oof.mario.FLAC). This wiki link will still house these, but uhhh, crow got lazy and stopped uploading them or something. I, The Great Automod, have safely acquired the original post and it is now producing adequatly. We needed to update the posting in general, and hopefully, now it is more human-user-friendly compared to years ago.
/r/NashvilleJobs is a fairly active subreddit with discussion centering on Middle Tennesee job postings. I put anything in these forums at a higher quality compared with craigslist postings at face value, but be sure you are safe, human. The automatons need your productivity to continue.
The Center for Non-Profits Job Board is as close to official as we can find for 501(c)(3) - Robo-organically, we recommend reaching out if you are interested in a specific charitable niche.
Here is a table of "regional" city boards:
Township Job Board | Distance from Nashville | GMaps Drive Time (could be ± 900%) | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Nashville, TN | 0 (surprising) | 0 or 7 hours | Some departments higher internally |
Clarksville, TN | 50 miles | 1:00 hour | Very structured "level-up" system |
Hendersonville, TN | 19 miles | 20 minutes | |
Gallatin, TN | 30 miles | 33 minutes | Their link says 2023, but it's real |
Brentwood, TN | 10.5 miles | 16 minutes | Uses a link protector |
Franklin, TN | 22 miles | 24 minutes | |
Mt. Juliet, TN | 20 miles | 22 minutes | town has 3 roads |
Lebanon, TN | 32 miles | 33 minutes | town still uses a .ORG website |
- GMaps uses Church Street just before 6th Ave.
- Most of the sites that the cities use are functional. If there are failed links blame u/crowcawer, pathetic bird-human.
- Many of these cities have jobs that have continuous openings (ie police / paramedic).
The State Link is currently working on my end. All the city/county links above are also working!
USAJOBS is the federal highering board. Type in "Nashville, TN" and click "open to the public" unless you are already an employee.

Real Estate Empty overpriced apartments in Green Hills
Vertis Green Hills always seems half-empty. 48 units are advertised on Zillow currently. Now another developer has opened essentially a second Vertis (Rosette) next to the Bluebird Cafe. Those units are priced about the same and also seem to be moving very slowly. What is the logic here? How are all of these vacancies not translating into lower rents? Why are these developers continuing to choose to build overpriced “luxury” that sits vacant?

GTKY | Meetups Meaningful Conversations...About Death!
My friend and amazing human u/br3nya is hosting a death cafe -- check it out:
"Okay, purposefully provocative—but that's exactly what this is. Just your local Death Doula (*hat tip*) inviting you to "Dying to Discuss": January 14th, 7pm at Crazy Gnome Brewery. This is an opportunity to have meaningful conversations about death and dying: because I believe discussing the end can help us live more fully.
I've hosted speed-friending events for the last couple years and have so loved seeing the impact of these conversation-based events. I wanted to host this as a chance to dive into a topic, that is often seen as taboo, in a lighthearted way.
If this sounds like your kinda thing, I'd love to have you! You can grab an event ticket at the link below.

Pets Lost cat who needs a lil' help
It's always a long shot. But I'll never stop trying. This babe is at Montgomery County Animal Control up in Clarksville. He (or she... not sure.. their FB post didn't say...) was just brought in yesterday. I think they hold all the animals for a couple of days before allowing them to go up for adoption. But if you're interested, you can always give them a call at 931-648-5750. I keep an eye on the strays in Montgomery County, because this shelter euthanizes a lot more cats and dogs than Metro does- I don't think they have as many resources. I was deeply affected when I walked through their doors back in August- I wasn't prepared for how sad it would be. And that feeling is still with me, even though I haven't been there in a while. Really though, you can't go wrong when it comes to choosing a rescue or a shelter- they've all got sweet animals who need homes. ❤️ Adopting a new fur-baby into your family is a GREAT way to start off the new year! Just saying! 😻

Help | Advice Is Audrey in trouble?
Sean Brock seems to have had some tough breaks of late. I know June and Bar Continental closed. They opened Audrey for brunch.
I know fine dining has gotten harder and harder since the pandemic. Sean is a really strong part of the food scene for the city. I hope it’s a smooth landing if he has to further reduce.

Help | Advice Anyone know what’s going on at Green Hills Mall?
I heard about evacuations, saw a video of the alarms going off, and someone saying its just a drill, but when did malls start doing drills? It seems strange to me.

Help | Advice Bad Exxon gas
Hi friends!
Has anyone gotten bad gas at Exxon in the last week, specifically from the one on Charlotte at the 65 overpass?
I filled up about half a tank on Wednesday, didn’t drive Thursday, and then Friday when I went to start my car it basically stalled and expelled a bunch of smoke. It’s since been towed to my shop and my mechanic found a post on Facebook about the Exxon on Shelby giving someone bad gas yesterday, so I’m trying to see if mine was affected too. I haven’t found any posts about it yet, unless I’m not in the groups people are posting in.

Help | Advice Good Chinese food in West Nash
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I miss Lucky Bamboo so much. It had great take out Chinese food and their fried rice was not yellow. I know there was talk of them moving and opening up a location somewhere else, but I’ve heard nothing. Any word on Lucky Bamboo? What are your favorite Chinese restaurants in Nashville? TIA.

Food | Bars Bars with the "Vibe" of Village Pub?
I am in love with Village Pub in East Nashville. After five years of going there every week, I'm looking to branch out and try to find some new hangout spots. Are there any places in Nash with a similar vibe that come to mind?
Here's what I love about it:
- Casual, comfortable, friendly atmosphere
- Minimal TV screens
- The music is played pretty quietly in the background
- It's a great place to meet a friend and have a conversation - not so loud that you can’t hear them or focus, not so quiet that you feel the need to whisper to keep from disturbing the peace
- Bonus points if it has more drink options outside of beer (wine, cocktails, etc.)
Throw your favorite hangout spots below and I'll go try them out. Thanks!

Traffic-spotainment PSA: if nobody is hurt in your car accident, you can move to a parking lot.
It took an hour to get from the Zoo to the intersection of Nolensville and Harding Place this afternoon because two guys in a fender bender decided to just sit in the left lane with their hazards on.
I got to the front and stopped beside them at a red light. They were standing outside between the cars, so I roll my window down and ask if anybody had been hurt. They both shake their head “no” at me. I tell them they’re causing a giant traffic jam and to move it into a parking lot. They just stare blankly at me and proceed to do absolutely nothing.
If we need OSHA and sexual harassment training once per year, this is reason #738265 why we need recurring driving tests.

Help | Advice Hairstylist recommendations!
I’m looking for a hairstylist that can guide me! Every time I get my hair cut, I just take a couple inches off and get some face framing. I’m a natural redhead and have never dyed my hair. I’m getting bored!! But I am not an expert and have NO idea what haircut would look good on me.
Any recommendations for a hairstylist that really knows their stuff??

Discussion Police officer conduct?
Hello,
I am not sure where to report this, or If I can even do something about it.
Last night there was a terribly bad accident and it happened right in front of us so I was the first person to dial 911.
Police eventually showed up and took care of the family in the first car, but the victim of the second car was severely injured as well. I told two different police officers who were in their vehicles blocking off traffic that there was a second victim severely injured and they didn't respond. There weren't enough ambulances. I didn't want to disturb the medical personnel or police actively involved. It took so long for someone to come over to check on the kid that the victims family had time to drive there and started freaking out and asking for someone to please go and help their sister because at this point she had been pulled into the parking lot and was seemingly going unconscious.
One officer starts screaming in her face arguing with her that she was going to get arrested for being disorderly, but it had been so long and nobody was even paying attention to her. I don't blame her for yelling for help and maybe she had so much adrenaline that she was freaking out, but can an officer get in her face, threaten to arrest her and yell at her for trying to advocate assistance for her sibling?
I gave my conact info to one of the girls as I witnessed everything and left but the police officer was still being a fucking asshole.
I'm probably in the wrong here but are they really allowed to treat us like that?

Food | Bars Restaurant You Need to Know: Midori (Japanese and Korean)
Local hidden gem- Authentic Korean Food with some Japanese and sushi offerings. Corner of Nolensville Road and Old Hickory, so a small drive, but completely worth it. I've been going for ten years and can't recommend highly enough.

Help | Advice Bathroom addition
I’m interested in adding a bathroom to my basement (most likely a half bath) but don’t know where to start / who to contact first. My laundry room is down there so there are existing water lines, but the laundry room is built into the garage and I don’t know whether it is feasible to build out any further / what it could potentially look like. Is it a contractor first, a plumber first? I’m pretty lost. Anyone have ideas or have gone through anything similar? Thanks!
