The old off-site events table is no longer working because it was hacked together in an afternoon and Reddit finally wised up to the scraping and blocked the machine.

Strange/Weird Found a Charles Bukowski novel in the free tiny library, inside it was the weirdest surprise
galleryEven weirder is around 13 years ago when I was in high school the guy behind this business card gave it to my female high school friend in the Blue(A) Line train around Florence Station. She then gave it to me because I keep odd business cards. I still do and after some rummaging I found it in my old high school wallet.
I hope this card is also from back then, but somehow I feel like this creepy dude is still out there giving high schoolers this card.

History Anyone watched “Lost LA” on PBS?
Curious to hear others’ thoughts…I’m not from here, but been here 10 years and always loved exploring the history of the place I call home!
Just found this series, and it feels very “npr-ish”? (Sorry, LAist-ish 🙄). As in it pretends to be unbiased by “showing all sides”, but definitely has a lilt and a message.

Hawthorne Nursery is closing for good on Tuesday Dec 31
galleryHawthorne Nursery is closing down on Tuesday forever. They're having a retirement sale, there's only 2 days left and still quite a bit of inventory. Everything is 40% off so if you need plants, potting mix, containers, pots, accessories, tools, etc. head over before they close down.

Nightlife Broadway Bar
Sadly, this bar will be closing at the end of the month.
20 years ago this place opened up and became a staple of the downtown bar scene over the years.
It was my go to spot for many years and the neon sign out front certainly became iconic.
I'll be there this weekend to say good bye and I hope some of you all can make it out there as well.
Goodbye Broadway Bar. You will be missed.

LA Trucker Hats: vendor on abbott kinney
Hi! I am trying to find the name of a vendor that sells trucker hats on Abbott Kinney (when I was last there a couple of months ago). They had different designs that said LA on them, but I forgot the name of the company. Would love to purchase for a friend's birthday.
Thank you!

Question Driving to LA from Vegas on New Year's Day - how crazy would traffic be?
Tapping on wisdom of the crowd here.
Wife and I are in Vegas to celebrate New Year's Eve.
We have to be at LAX by 3pm on New Year's Day to catch our international flight back home.
Is it advisable to drive to Los Angeles on New Year's Day? If yes, would traffic be mad?
Can we drive off at 9am, and make it to LAX by 3pm?
Have read previous posts, with advice to leave Vegas as early as 4am, and wanna ask if this is still valid.
Thanks!
