I've played FF14 and I like it but that fanbase really needs to understand MMOs aren't for everyone. Also, considering the mass amount of content from expansions and patches, it's basically its own franchise separate from the typical main series in the same way 7 is. That's not a bad thing but people can be FF14 fans without playing the other games while others can be FF fans without playing 14.

My bro plays XIV and i havent gotten around to it but we both love FF.

I was playing FF3 PR, my bro who recognized alot of the music and i told him this is where it came from.

The entirety of Shadowbringers is essentially a love letter to 3 with how the game uses the Crystal Tower as one of its foundations for its storylines.

Not to mention the Crystal Tower alliance raids before that. Natsuko Ishikawa appears to love FFIII.

There's also a lot of 4 references in endwalker and post endwalker content. They even have the 4 fiends!
