Full English/Irish breakfast? Food

Anyone know if you can get a full English/Irish breakfast anywhere in Eugene? I’m looking for the whole shebang: beans, eggs, black and white pudding, English bacon, potatoes…. Thanks!

From the Pint Pot's menu:

Irish Breakfast

A hearty tradition at its finest. Corned beef hash, Scotch egg, Irish bacon, blood sausage, beans and tomato topped with a poached egg and a slice of soda bread with the cinnamon honey butter.

$11 Saturday & Sunday 11 PM - 4 PM

11 PM - 4 PM

Hmmm...

Nothing like breakfast at 4 PM. Why even offer it if you’re only going to have it those hours?

It was the starting time of 11PM that I found more curious.

Your reading comprehension skills are far superior to mine.

That is opening time for them.

They open in the middle of the night?

I know the hours so just dont see it. Probably been like that forever

You know 11PM is the one an hour before midnight right?

I think you mean 11AM, which is the one in the morning an hour before noon.

Yah, I saw that, after you pointed it out and I have probably been blocking it out for years.

Went there today about 1 PM hoping for the Irish breakfast. Waitress said they were all out for today, so I asked her how early I needed to get there to be sure of getting it. She said they are “first come first served”, and sometimes they are out by 11:15. The shepherds pie was great though!

Went today based on this thread. Partner for the Irish breakfast, I got shepherd's pie.

Pie was delightful. I wasn't afforded the ability to eat the Irish breakfast, he usually shares but today was just too good to share I guess 🤣 he had nothing but positive things to say. And my kid wants to steal that soda bread recipe.

Neither corned beef hash nor scotch eggs are Irish, and while scotch eggs are British they are also very gross. Corned beef hash is yummy at least though

Edit: love getting downvoted for facts. Such a good community vibe in this subreddit!

I didn't down vote you but I've always associated corned beef with Ireland or at least Irish food viewed through our Americanized version of St Patrick's day.

Corned beef is definitely very Irish, but corned beef hash is an American invention! I’m pretty sure it was invented in Boston (probably by Irish immigrants) and it is super yummy but as someone who has lived in Ireland I can tell you for sure it’s not something you can actually find over there. When I asked about it once at a pub I was met with a blank stare, and an Irish friend made fun of me for bringing it up, so that was my first indication that it was not actually Irish, or at least, traditionally Irish.

Getting downvoted for dissing scotch eggs. How can you not like an egg crusted sausage and deep fried?

1

u/South-Violinist Nov 08 '21

I mean I’m clearly in the minority here, but everything about scotch eggs just sounds gross to me. I just can’t abide by them

Lion and owl has a full Irish breakfast but it's very expensive and laughably small

The "Irish soda bread" they served with our full Irish was a literal crouton. A tablespoon of beans. A single quails egg. It was top quality and beautiful (as is everything they do) but for $25 I would like some actual food. Especially if you're advertising the meal as a full irish!

I worked there for a hot minute. The soda bread is literally baked in a silicone candy mold 😂

Just like my Irish grandma used to make them!

I really wish some place would do a proper fry up around here.

The Pint Pot was the only one that we have found locally. I am from Ireland (so have had my fair share) and it was okay...not the greatest, but better than nothing unless you are cooking it yourself.

Pint Pot also has a bit of a rough history involving white supremacists. If you’ve heard of the infamous Weed Nazi, her husband (who is also a shitbag) is/was in a Celtic music group who the Pint Pot booked to play shows well after they were known to be involved with sketch Nazi stuff. I hope it was an actual accident and they haven’t continued to book them.

1

u/Celtic_Semi_Colon Nov 08 '21

Do you know the name of the band? We are Irish musicians but have yet to really get to know any here. Would love the intel to keep them the fuck off the circuit.

2

u/thenerfviking Nov 08 '21

It seems I was slightly incorrect, it wasn’t her Husband but her husband’s close friend and mentor who’s a local Springfield Nazi. The guys to watch out for are Jimmy Marr and his buddy Eric Edson Albert. Marr is an open white supremacist who used to have a massive Nazi flag draped over the front of his house. He’s known for manufacturing lots and lots of anti Semitic banners in his backyard and driving around a truck plastered in neo nazi slogans.

1

u/Moarbrains Nov 08 '21

So this one time, they had a musician who was friends with a guy who was a nazi?

Yeah, rough time.

2

u/thenerfviking Nov 08 '21

This was also the guy who’s wife was organizing the Festival of Eugene that got canceled when people found all the racist stuff she said online. I should have clarified: Jimmy also performed there with his friend as part of a band. And Jimmy is an out and proud Nazi. The guy owns multiple Nazi flags, is friends with guys who have done time for hate crimes (the Laskey brothers, who attacked Temple Beth Israel in Eugene), and drives around a truck with a banner that says “Jew Lies Matter” on the back of it. When their neo nazi discord got leaked it was also revealed that Jimmy and his compatriots were trying to recruit several underage teenagers and were giving them instructions on how to lie to their parents so they could go hang out at the house of a middle aged Nazi and his wife.

1

u/Moarbrains Nov 08 '21

What band?

2

u/thenerfviking Nov 08 '21

I don’t know if they had an official name but they performed at the pint pot’s big st Patrick’s day thing a few years ago. Albert was a member of the Oregon piper’s society, I’m not sure if they still associate with him but I believe he’s a member still. He also taught classes at the Shedd but I believe that ended when they found out about his friendships with literal Nazis.
If you want some proof that Jimmy is both a Nazi and can play the bagpipes may I direct you to a video he uploaded himself in which he plays bagpipes while hanging up a Neo Nazi sign over the Highway: https://youtu.be/bzynj5Ud95E
The man is not shy about his politics.

We had just arrived in Eugene and actually attended that event at Pint Pot. We did notice a lot of chud dingleberries when the pipers got there....now it makes total sense. There was a hammerskin in the loo that got my undivided attention.

1

u/Celtic_Semi_Colon Nov 08 '21

Thanks for the intel. It is good to have a face and a name to circulate.

1

u/Celtic_Semi_Colon Nov 08 '21

Thank you. Fucking scumbags.

I’ve got some Spanish blood sausage in the freezer if you’re desperate. It’s not black pudding (Irish or Scottish) but it does in an emergency

u/simplymuffin8 Nov 07 '21

Lion and Owl does! Beans, toast, black and white puddings, eggs, tomatoes, rashers, mushrooms..
