Both SUB and EWEB are community-owned utilities operated by elected 5-member boards.

Are you okay?

Well springfield is doing good by the people and somebody at EWEB is screwing us over. No I'm not okay, the city is taking more money than it deserves after closing the only hospital to easily access medical help while I'm having epileptic seizures.

Im so lucky i found an amazing landlord who doesn't want to lose me as a tenant, she hasnt raised my rent annually like others have but it means I'm stuck in Eugene. I won't stay here forever, Jesus Christ the homeless problem here is terrifying.

EWEB is a publicly-owned non-profit with an elected and unpaid board of commissioners. Who is screwing us over, how, and for what purpose? In reality, there are a number of reasons EWEB charges more than SUB. My understanding is that the discrepancy is largely due to EWEB locking in to long-term contracts when energy prices were high, incorrectly thinking it would save money in the long run. It doesn't seem to have been anything malicious, though, just a bad bet.

Also... The city didn't shut down University District, PeaceHealth made that decision. The national housing crisis requires federal solutions.

I hope you get the help you need.
