Results In the best Maury Povich you've ever heard "Shelter said Irish Wolfhound mix. DNA tests show...

That was a lie. This is Keira adopted for our local animal shelter back in September. My vet and a few random people in the street really had me believing she might be at least part Irish Wolfhound. She is about 7 months and around 60 lbs. The smartest and most lovable idiot I know. Loves people and her cat brother, other dogs she is not so sure about.

I received Machka’s DNA results!! I’m very suspicious of the pitbull finding (since she’s a street dog from Turkey, pitbulls are uncommon there, and they have been outlawed in Turkey for a few years. However, she does have some pitbull-like features), and I am wondering if they sometimes use the pitbull breed as a catch-all when they are unable to determine breed-specific origins via DNA. I am also pretty shocked that “village dog” didn’t come back as one of her breeds. Thankfully, her health stuff all came back ok. What do you all think?

Results are in for our sweet girl! We started to suspect Beagle in the past week because she loves to chat/howl when she is playing, but other than that, no one guessed a single breed correctly on our post here, at the vet or shelter, or in our family or friend groups! Our cute little mystery is solved. 😊

Adopted raúl from the humane society 6 years ago, they said he was a corgi/Shepard mix. After finding this sub I started to get suspicious because it’s never corgi.

After receiving the DNA results on his doggie sister, I figured I’d give it a shot on this old man as well. My boy just turned nine in December, and I’ve had the pleasure of being his human since 2017. Unlike his sister, his breed mix wasn’t a complete mystery- with his beagle/dachshund percentages being fairly obvious. Him popping up as partial Rat Terrier made complete sense with regards to his unique (and handsome!) fur complexion. But the Shih Tzu result was a complete shocker 🤣. All in all- a pretty solid result.

Results Big guard dog unlocked!

Im pretty surprised by the results but it does make sense to be honest. We adopted our puppy in November and the shelter told us he is a terrier mix… he is 55 pounds and definitely not done growing. We thought he would be schnauzer, border collie, lab because of his coat texture, and behavior. But he does have some guard dog behaviors for sure too.

I have been getting a lot of lab/retriever/collie/aussie guesses and I personally was told he was a retriever/shepard when I got him from the rescue but boy oh boy!!! He is everything!! Quite literally!

We got little Remi from the local humane society, him and his litter came all the way from Louisiana since their shelter couldn’t take care of an influx of 11 puppies. They didn’t know much about him aside from his age and that the mom was a lab. Amused to see he’s a little bit chihuahua.

Piper is currently 8 months old and 35 pounds. She’s the sweetest and most energetic girl who has taken 3 (!) whole naps on her own since we rescued her at 10 weeks 🥰

We got Atticus from the shelter at 2 months old and knew his mom was a German Shepherd, and he looked very boxer-y when he was a puppy! Turns out our suspicions were exactly correct.

Results Tank’s results are in

Thumbnail gallery

The results are both surprising and anticlimactic. We adopted Tank about 8 years ago. He had been found as a stray with his mom and brother and was billed as a boxer/lab/dane mix.

Tank is 60 lbs, highly energetic, and smart and loves people, swimming, snuggling, chewing, running and food. At 8.5 yo he STILL steals my kids toys, our hats, etc. on a daily basis to try to chew them up or start a game. It’s hard to see in the pics but he’s lean and muscular (boxer build) with a tail that is strong as a whip and curls up.

The boxer/lab made sense (his mother looked like a boxer and he has all the traits), but given his history I thought there’d be more breeds including some pitty… Curious what others think!
