SGA It's not just Chill Inhibitor. ALL WEAPONS from Episode: Revenant have perk combination issues. This is a widespread bug.
Analysis by Skarrow9: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fzC-FmJVmY
TL;DR: Perks are aligned 1->6 (or 1->7) in the API for each column. The bug is that certain perks cannot be paired with other, further away perks, based on how they are labeled.
The 1st perk in column 1 can drop with the 1st perk in column 2.
However, the 1st perk column 1 is extremely unlikely to drop with the 4th perk in column 2.
This issue has existed for four months, at least since Final Shape was launched. This is evident by the exact same pattern existing on Truthteller, a GL so shit that there is no god roll. And yet, the exact same perk drop rate distribution exists on it as well.
https://x.com/mossy_max/status/1849246476041605224
Skarrow compared all player drops with the chart developed by Newo, and superimposed the Light.gg "perk combination popularity" rating over each perk.
The core issue is that perks that are "further" away from one another have less of a chance of being paired with one another. This sounds crazy, but this is what the data says. How they're listed on the API, as perk slots, seems to be bugging out the likelihood of them being paired together.
This is not perk weighting, this is improper perk distribution.
You wanna know how buggy this season has been? It's had so many bugs, the very RNG system is being compromised.
Now, for example, here is VS Velocity Baton: https://i.imgur.com/8ZUwXVj.png
And here is Bittersweet, the GL from this season, with the Light.GG scores overlayed onto drop data: https://i.imgur.com/OmGMM46.png
And here is Liturgy: https://i.imgur.com/vPClBMe.png
And here is Sovereignty: https://i.imgur.com/lfFZMMW.png
This is a recent bug affecting the game as a whole. It is not simply just "the popular GL" that is bugged, that is simply the one GL that everyone really wants, so obviously the issue became more obvious on that one first.
Who knows when this bug was introduced into this game. Who knows what patterns it exists on. He even analyzes No Survivors, the SMG from Season of The Deep. The trend is almost partially visible there too, but it also lines up with generally bad perks, so it's possible it just went under our radar.
This has the potential to have been a long standing bug that has only just now been revealed thanks to it finally landing on a highly sought after S-Tier combination. You didn't see people complaining that Unrelenting+Pugilist was an impossible combo before. Now that the dice have landed on Envious+BnS being the impossible combo, all eyes are on the bug.
I would be really curious when this started happening.
Edit: It definitely existed at least 4 months ago. This same trend appears on Truthteller, a refreshed gun with no commonly defined "god roll". It suffers from the same trend.

SGA To celebrate this glorious Gjallarhorn day, will give Reddit award for every comment that says Gjallarhorn
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, Xur arrived and sold an Exotic Rocket Launcher. The community marvelled at its majesty but did not care for its Strange Coin price label
“I won’t be wasting my strange coins I worked so hard for on a rocket launcher” the Guardians said. The Reddit goblins laughed at those who did.
Little did these virgins know, the true majesty of the power locked behind Xurs humble bundle. Maybe the most powerful gun we will EVER see in Destiny.

SGA To all players who are unhappy with the state of the game, DO NOT pre-order Frontiers or purchase the annual pass!
It's a bad habit and incentivizes Bungie to make anti-player changes without any repercussions. They get their money up front, so why do they care what we want.
Even waiting a week or two before buying an expansion or season would be enough to let you know if it was worth it!
This Episode has been terrible. The bugs, taking away seasonal weapons crafting, an awful tonic system, etc. Absolutely not worth whatever money we've given Bungie.
Don't make the same mistake. Wait to see the content before you purchase

SGA Before everyone started getting Currant errors, Final Shape was on track to break the game's all-time highest concurrent player count.
https://i.imgur.com/8oxfrt9.png
The highest it reached was 314k concurrent players, only 2000 behind the all time record reached on Lightfall's launch date.
However, it has now fallen below 300k and is currently sitting in the 290s due to everyone getting booted to orbit and out of their lobbies.
Shame. Almost had it Bungie.

SGA Festival of the Lost Weapons aren't dropping correctly
New and Old weapons aren't really dropping correctly with Festival of the Lost:
- There is no Focusing Option for Braytech Werewolf at Eva. Horror Story is still an option
- The Perk pools for (at least) Mechabre, Jurassic Green, and Acosmic are the 2023's version. https://x.com/Commander_Pika/status/1851319946413809861
- Focusing Weapons still uses the 2023 perk pool (and Horror Story is in the mix for the generic focusing
If there are any other bugs, list them please.
Update (10/30/2024 at 5pm CDT):
Festival weapons now drop with their correct perk pools. Eva's Focusing visually shows Horror Story, but that's just a visual bug. Braytech Werewolf will be the reward when you select Horror Story.

SGA Crafting is NOT Being Removes
Edit: Removed*
Edit2: Formatting
After the announcement today about Episode: Revenant, I keep seeing posts saying, to paraphrase, that Bungie is removing weapon crafting.
Weapon Crafting is NOT being removed.
To quote the Sept. 9th Dev Insight article on Core Game Rewards:
What’s happening with weapon crafting?
Weapon crafting is not going away and will continue to be a way to craft a specific roll of a weapon.
Our intent is for crafting going forward to provide a catch-up mechanism for rolls you weren't able to nab from the original sources. This may be because that source is no longer available or was gated by lockouts when it was. But ultimately, we want crafting to support the weapon chase, and not replace it.
Meaning that while Revenant seasonal weapons won't be craftable immediately, they will be afterwards to serve as a catchup for those that have not gotten their desired roll while Heresy is the active Episode.

SGA Red Death's Catalyst is Insane
• Helping Hand: Final blows charge this weapon. When the weapon is charged, the next final blow creates a healing burst at your location and leaves a remnant behind that provides restoration to allies
It only takes two kills to charge it (one in pvp) and your next kill provides an aoe of Restoration x2. Combine it with Emperyan and Benevolence and you are completely broken

SGA Warlocks are still receiving less reputation on ritual playlists.
This week GMs got released and there is bonus vanguard reputation and this bug that is still in the game since Final Shape release is still unfixed.
Cheese forever already made a video about it, and others already reported it on forums. However this is not acknowledged on the "known issues" list.
So, if you are a warlock main and feel like things are slow this season, this might be the reason.

SGA Neomuna patrol enemies take ~30% more damage to kill than Master Raid enemies
TL;DR tweet with GRAPH: https://twitter.com/mossy_max/status/1639077134940471300
MossyMax, the Outgoing Damage Scaling Guy here again.
Since Master Vault of Glass is available this week, I had an opportunity to test the new changes to master raids. I tested both the way outgoing damage scales, as well as how the enemy HP scales, using the method I outlined in this post.
Master Raid = Contest Raid (mostly)
As promised, Bungie changed the enemy HP scaling from similar to Master NFs down to the same as regular raids. The previous HP scaling was about 50% higher, depending on the enemy, before accounting for Power Level differences. In addition, they changed the outgoing scaling formula to be the same as regular raid. This only gives you ~7% more damage vs. before, but it's better than nothing.
All this to say, if you don't use overcharge/surge for the 25% buff, Master raid is now identical to contest raid in terms of how quickly you kill and get killed by enemies, maxing at a 0.54x outgoing damage multiplier. Obviously there's more champions and shields to manage, but with the siphon and bricks from beyond artifact perks, that could be a positive. If you do use the 25% surge/overcharge buff (0.68x multiplier total), you deal damage equivalent to about a -10 contest mode, rather than -20. You still die just as fast, which is arguably the bigger challenge in this context.
Neomuna is TANKY
So, onto my clickbaity title. Early in the season I checked how damage scales in Neomuna, and found that on patrol and in lost sectors you have a -15 delta, using the same difficulty curve as raids, giving you a 0.61x multiplier to damage. For comparison, all other patrol spaces (and campaign missions) use the normal difficulty curve and have a +50 delta cap, for a 1.4x maximum multiplier, over 2 times the damage.
At the time, I thought this was balanced out by having the enemies using the same HP scaling as other planets, but NO. I just tested, and the scaling is even higher than in the raid. I haven't tested every enemy HP tier, but here's an example with a minor (red-bar) goblin:
Activity Type | Goblin HP |
---|---|
Patrol | 175 |
Regular and Master Raid, Gambit | 220 |
Neomuna Patrol | 250 |
Dungeon | 350 |
Old Master Raid | 375 |
As a sanity check, I just tested bullets to kill a goblin with Rufus's Fury, a weapon with low enough damage to see differences (and also would get the 25% strand surge in Master VoG):
Activity | Number of Rufus bodyshots to kill a goblin |
---|---|
Regular VoG (+20 raid) | 13 |
Master VoG (-20 with 25% strand surge) | 21 |
Neomuna patrol | 28 |
As you can see, for goblins, you need 30% more bullets to kill in Neomuna than in master VoG. In practice of course, you face a lot more champs and minibosses in a raid encounter than on neomuna, so it's not like it's a cake-walk, but per-enemy-killed, Master Raid is in fact easier. This also doesn't account for differences in incoming damage, which I'm not the expert on testing. But just anecdotally, you die WAY quicker in master raids than on Neomuna.
I Don't Actually Hate it?
What do you guys think of this change? On paper it sounds ridiculous, but I haven't hated the experience of neomuna patrol, besides the threshers. It's nice to have a higher skill floor to keep you sharp, so you don't have to drastically readjust your tactics every time you enter challenging content.

SGA You cannot farm icebreaker
The amount of people I've found farming final encounter complaining about having 30+ clears and no icebreaker you get 3 chances per week 1 per character. please do not waste your time UNLESS a dungeon/raid is in the weekly rotator. if you need eyes of tomorrow and deep stone is the weekly raid then go grind the final encounter on one character you will eventually get it but the new dungeon won't go into rotation until a new dungeon drops same with salvations edge. Goodluck grinding and please make sure you are farming properly so you don't waste your time

SGA Happy Xurfboard day to all those who recognise
If you ever missed the Skimmer in Guardian Games, now is your chance to grab one outside of the Gjally version for Silver at Eververse
It looks pretty awesome too so well worth it even if you got one already
His Skimmer is not his own
It costs 97 Strange Coins which is a big haul but it’s NOT a week only thing.
Best way to farm Strange Coins remains as farming Devil’s Lair or Lake of Shadows speed runs or just by completing your regular ritual activities like Vanguard Ops, Crucible or going wild in some Gambit
I found best way was no mic LFG. Everyone pushing the same goal made it very fast and quite fun to just blast the Strikes
There are also some Strange Coins on the Episode Pass track so make sure you’ve claimed them / gain some more XP to grab them
Does the Skimmer leave with Xur this week?
No. Xur keeps this until you buy it so keep that FOMO in its closet my Guardians.
If you don’t pick it up this weekend, can always get it the next time he shows up.
Where the f*ck is XurTM
Xur is now always in The Tower Bazaar. The days of him travelling are over (For now)
You can see him on the mini map when in the Social Space
The Last Word
The Skimmer is arguably better than a Sparrow with its ability to glide along the skyline or pull out some nice kick flips. Enjoy!

SGA “Teaching 1” instead of “KWTD” in my raid LFG posts has been game changing
Over the past month I’ve ran into a common occurrence where my KWTD raid runs have been a lot worse than my “Teaching 1” runs. My KWTD runs always have impatient players that quit after a second wipe or get extremely aggressive with people in my group. As well, when someone that doesn’t know what to do joins, in makes everybody in a worse, less-trusting mood.
I’ve started putting “Teaching 1” in all my posts since then even if I am not teaching someone and it has made my experience SO much more enjoyable. It also gives me an excuse if I mess up since my buddy normally knows more than me with every mechanic. The players that join my teaching group normally know what to do and are just very relaxed. I’ve legit made actual friends with this.
As well, it is always a more welcoming group if there is one other person that doesn’t know what to do and joins, everyone is more hospitable towards them. My runs have actually been faster in my T1 groups than my KWTD groups.
I highly recommend doing T1 just as a way to enjoy your raiding experience. Most of the time, everyone that joins are genuinely nice people and understanding. It has made raiding so much better for me.

SGA In nearly every circumstance, you should never use an abbreviation before you've used the word first.
Whether it's in a reddit post or a peer reviewed research paper, using abbreviations before using the whole word only serves to confuse your reader. It's especially bad in places like DestinyTheGame where there are so many weapons, exotics, abilities, and activities that can all be shortened.
You shouldn't put something like "What's best for dps in ron? ttf or a fttc sniper?"
It takes no time to just type it out. After you've used the word/s, then you can abbreviate it. It's just good form.
Edit: Yeah, there are some common abbreviations used in all hobbies and communities. Usually you can get away with it, but I was moreso referring to those people might not know at first glance. And I guess I got ahead of myself. I don't mean you should type out every comment fully, but rather when people make longer posts or comments where some clarification can help.
Or dont.

SGA The Time To Reach Transmog Cap Requires Nearly 7 Days of IN-GAME Play Time (Math Inside)
It's been found that you acquire 1 Synthrand every 2 minutes while in combat. This means you can't acquire another strand for a full 2 minutes after acquiring your last one. It doesn't matter how many kills you get in this time between those 2 minutes.
This puts the total time to reach transmog cap on one character at 53 hours and 20 minutes or 6 days and 16 hours for three characters.
Let me repeat that again, 6 days and 16 hours.
Once again, this is in-game play time. Most AAA single player story driven games take around the 40 hour mark to complete. You could beat a single player game 4 times over before reaching transmog cap in comparison. There's a compromise to be reached between what they're trying to monetize and respecting our time investment. This isn't it.
In fact, the real time here is even longer than what I listed when you consider how people actually play the game. I computed the time with the consideration that you're being completely optimal and doing nothing but efficiently farming transmog tokens. When viewing it all this way, there may as well not even be a cap because no one, unless you no life the game, is going to reach it. This is a F2P mobile game practice and I'm not here for it.
If you're interested in the math of how I got that time, stick around to read the rest below.
The Math
- 150 Synthstrand needed for a bounty
- 1 Synstrand per 2 minutes
- 300 minutes (5 hours) to acquire 1 bounty
- This is 5 hours of being in combat mind you
Most bounties you buy require ~4 activity completions on an easy one. Some other bounties are more annoying such as killing 50 champions. I'll be using the 4 activity completion bounties as an example.
- 4 Activity completions needed
- Roughly ~15 minutes to complete a core activity
- ~10 minutes in the activity itself
- ~5 minutes match making, going through loading screens, and other fluff
- Roughly ~15 minutes to complete a core activity
- 1 hour in total to complete a bounty
There's a bit of overlap here, as you'll be getting more Synthstrand as you complete activities. Now let's compute the overlap.
- 4 Activities
- ~10 minutes in each will net you 5 Synstrand per activity
- 20 Synthstrand will be generated in the hour it takes you to complete these activities
- This (artificially) lowers the cost of a transmog bounty to 130 Synthstrand if you're being optimal.
Now we have our numbers, 1 hour for a bounty completion and 260 minutes (4 hours and 20 minutes) of farming Synthstrand for a total time of 5 hours and 20 minutes to complete one transmog bounty. Because I computed this with overlap, this is the best case scenario where you're neglecting everything else in the game and solely playing to farm more Synthstrand.
The transmog cap is 10 per season per character. Multiplying our time of 5 hours and 20 minutes by 10, we get 53 hours and 20 minutes of in-game play time to reach transmog cap on one character. I don't know about you, but over 2 days of game play to get 10 of something doesn't set right with me.
Now what if you do this for all 3 characters? That puts you at 6 days and 16 hours to reach transmog cap on all your characters. Keep in mind once again, this is considering you're being completely optimal and doing nothing in the game but grinding transmog tokens. This also will have to be done every season. Multiply this by 4 for the total number of seasons in a year and you're looking at almost a full month of play time (26 days and 16 hours) to get a total of 120 transmog tokens.
Edit:
I wanted to put these numbers in a bit better perspective. According to this site, I have roughly 84 days of play time on D2 since it released back in September of 2017, nearly 4 years ago. This counts only the active time spent in activities, not in orbit, the tower, or any other social space. I'm listed at the top 3% of play time among all people who've signed in the game, so I'm definitely an abnormal no lifer compared to most of the population. This game is my hobby.
If you take my play time of 84 days, or 2016 hours, and divide that by the number of years this game has been out, roughly 4, you get an average play time of around 504 hours a year for me. This equates to 21 days of play time I've put into this game per year.
THIS STILL ISN'T ENOUGH TIME TO REACH TRANSMOG CAP FOR EVERY SEASON IN THE YEAR AND IM IN THE TOP 3%.
It takes almost 27 full days of play time to reach transmog cap for all 4 seasons in a year, and I'm short at 21 days a year. Even if you no life the game like me, you're still gonna fall short.

SGA Small Reminder: You can play the entire Act 1 today but you don't have to do it ;)
In Revenant, all narrative content for each Act will be playable at the launch of the Act. This will give players the option to play through the story for each Act at their preferred pace. The remainder of the Episode format will remain the same, such as the Act structure and the Seasonal challenge weekly rollout.
Source: https://www.bungie.net/7/en/News/Article/twid-07-11-2024
So you can play probably all (28) quests today but then there is no new (story) content for the next 6 weeks, remember that :) Only the new dungeon on Friday and the (new) Grandmaster rotation this season in week 4.
/e From the community
- Festival of the Lost is also in Act 1
