Before everyone started getting Currant errors, Final Shape was on track to break the game's all-time highest concurrent player count. SGA

The highest it reached was 314k concurrent players, only 2000 behind the all time record reached on Lightfall's launch date.

However, it has now fallen below 300k and is currently sitting in the 290s due to everyone getting booted to orbit and out of their lobbies.

Shame. Almost had it Bungie.

Admittedly, I'm a bit of a Bubgie apologist, but sometimes you just can't.. this is brutal.

It’s shocking. After Helldivers I thought they or Sony would at least have foreseen this and got some extra bandwidth.

You sweet summer child, thinking Sony would learn from their mistakes.

they don't think this is a mistake. They aren't about to shell out all kinds of extra infrastructure just for 1 or 2 days when the player count is miles higher than it will be soon.

They aren't to shell out all kinds of extra infrastructure just for 1 or 2 days when the player count is miles higher than it will be soon.

Except I believe they have done that before - the reason Witch Queen and Lightfall were so smooth (at least as I understand it) is because Sony gave them access to extra servers specifically for those launch days.

Maybe there's bad blood between Sony and Bungie, maybe those servers aren't available anymore (probably being used for a different game in that case), but whatever the reason is, they don't seem to have those extra this time. So we're back to the pre-Witch Queen status quo of launch days being unplayable.

This is the first time I’m hearing about Sony giving them “extra servers” for launch day, do you have any source for that?

More money doesn’t necessity mean better servers though. I would imagine it’s some unforeseen issue or bottleneck causing it, I’m sure they invested enough money to hold this many players

I think you mean '48 hour downtime' lol
