Help Nerite shell eroded?

Post image
Upvotes

Just bought this horned nerite snail and I didn’t really pay attention to what the guy at the store picked for me. Now i can see that a couple of it’s horns are broken in half and it has this white erosion on its shell. Will it be ok? Is there anything I can do to help it heal?

Help Snail for green spot algea control

Upvotes

I have some green spot algea, which is so annoying to remove. Which snail can help me combat it?

I prefer Mystery Snail more than other type. But if it won't eat this type of algea then I will go with the other.

Help Something ate my nerite

I haven't seen him move for a couple of days, so I decided to check if he's ok. Pulled him out only to discover an empty shell and a lonely flap laying beneath it. No sign of the body. Now I've pulled out dead snails before, it happens, but never an empty one. Other tank inhabitants are 7 tetra glo, 5 pepper corys, one ancitrus, 6 pigmy corys, a black cory and three mollies. As far as I'm aware I have some ramsohrns, some bladders, 3 nerites and a mystery snail. What could have cleaned out the shell so quickly?

Fascinating creatures, fun to watch them walk upside on the water surface! This one was taking a ride!

Picture Happy to say ramshorn snails most definitely eat Cyanobacteria. They might become a problem but that’s okay they’re in my shrimp tank so if food every runs low I can always start putting algae wafers in

Help 2nd hand tank smells like clove oil - is it safe to use?

My mystery snails laid eggs and I'd like to give it a go raising some of them, so I bought a 2nd hand tank from a recycling centre which I thought would be great for the babies. When I got it home however, I went to clean it and as soon as I took the lid off I got hit with the smell of clove oil (completely my fault for not checking before purchasing). I need some opinions - is it still safe to use if I wash it out several times? Or will it kill the babies?

Help Nerite snail shell chips

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Is this something to be concerned about? I bought 3 red racers about 2 months ago. I don’t remember if these chips were there when they came from the store, but I’m wondering now if they’re a concern or how to help them. Only one of the 3 has them. Of the other 2, one is perfectly uniform shell, the other has a white tip on the spiral of the shell which I’m assuming is also a chip.

There are calcium sources in the water, cuttlebone. 6.8 pH, 8GH, 2kh. 20 gal tank, cycled for about 4 months. Snails added 2 months ago.

Help Snabies Question

I have beautiful gold mystery snabies maturing and am curious how old/big they must be before I give them away? They are my first batch and it's so fun to care for them and watch them change.

I just got two new Nerites today. Acclimated them for an hour and placed them in. left them alone to settle for the afternoon… come back and one is nowhere to be seen. the tank is pretty barren too — so almost nowhere to hide.

Well the rock on the far right of the tank was sitting atop the driftwood before. he had crammed himself under that somehow. I spent like 30 minutes inspecting the tank and looking around the stand to see if he had escaped ! i’m super glad he’s okay, but man the first few days of owning these guys always stresses me out. never sure if they’ll settle in properly or not …

Help So what do I do next…?

Alright, I still have lots of movement after a week with is huge! I have them in a small breeder box inside of a 10 gallon aquarium. When do I dump them into the rest of the aquarium? I don’t want them to die again. These are baby mystery snails.

General nerite sourcing!

I have an established 5.5 gallon that’s been empty for a couple months now. I just ordered some more plants to fill it up a bit more. I want something simple and easy to maintain, so I’m thinking of just adding one or two nerites and nothing else. Any recommendations of good online shops that sell aquatic snails?

General Radix (pond snails) question

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

I’ve got this little container set up for some radix snails (I adore them, they’re nostalgic for me since I used to find them back home before I moved cross country, and today, 7 years later, I found some at the fish store and got them for free.)

Is it possible for them to live comfortably in here until I get a 5 gallon in the future? My wife wants shrimp, and while I know 5 gallons is hard to hold a cycle, the only livestock for a few months will be these fun little dudes. I could also get a kritter keeper tbh if it’s too small, probably better at holding water. (This enclosure is advertised as waterproof, but I have my doubts.)

The water is cloudy because of the rocks, which I can remove if they make the water too soft. I have test strips for pH, but heavier testing equipment is not yet present. No filter, no heater, but my wife likes the room to be 72-78F.

Still don't know what species these guys are but they love the marimo moss in my tank.

I hope they get along with the cherry shrimp I plan on putting in soon. I was worried the shrimp would accidentally eat them when they were itty bitty so I waited longer to let them grow a bit. I think they're big enough now that the shrimp hopefully won't harm them.
