Discussion Saltwater Tank Newbie
galleryHey guys!
New to the salt water, aquarium world - just purchased a 13.5g fluval tank.
Been reading a few blogs but still in the beginning stages & looking for some feedback from more experienced folks!
- I have some sea water from pet store
- live rocks to help expedite the cycling process
- have one branch to use as my “island”
- I have a CP1 fluval circulation pump, not 100% sure on placement but open to suggestions.
I tried to put the rocks further away from the glass around the entire tank (heard it’s easier for cleaning). I did not glue or use epoxy for my structure, is this 100% needed?
And created an aquascape that has some negative space and room for an anemone/coral etc.
Thanks for the advice!

Discussion Moving some shrimp
Hi friends. I have two thriving nano neocardinia tanks, one red, one blue. I have a new third up and cycling, planted, just humming along and I'm thinking I'd like to use shrimp from one of my older tanks. This could be a silly question I guess but, is it disruptive to the balance of this type of planted tank to remove 12 or so? Is there any reason I should instead consider waiting to buy a fresh batch somewhere else? Thank you so much for your kind advice.

Discussion How many nano fish would you put in a 40gal?
I've got 3 nano tanks and am somewhat addicted to nano fish and inverts. I'm plotting out a 40 gallon community tank now but I kind of want to fill it with a ton of tiny fish. I'm thinking nothing really larger than 1.5-2 inches each. How many do you think I could realistically fit if it is well planted and has a good filter?
ETA: would have shrimp and some of the "pest" snail varieties but no big snails or crawfish etc. I am considering pom pom crabs though.

Help Neon tetras and shrimp in a 5 gallon?
Hello, my 8 yo stepsister got a fish tank for her birthday. It’s a 5 gallon freshwater tank. We haven’t bought the fish yet but my parents are planning on buying some neon tetras and shrimp. I keep seeing mixed results online about how big the tanks should be since neon tetras like to be In Schools and require more space, whereas shrimp just prefer 10 gallons at least.
What type of fish would do best in that type of tank? And should we look into extra things like UV or heat lamps? Any other recommendations, like plants or feeding? Pls let me know!

Help It's chaotic. Struggled to keep the plants into the soil.
This is my first planted tank setup which I just setup today. This a 5gallon tank and I've added 1kg of aqua soil, but I think it isn't enough so I'll add a kg more a few months later. Now what am I supposed to do to make it look better at least, it looks like I've just dumped it into the tank, how do I arrange them, it's my first time with live plants so it was tricky for me.

Help 15g Fluval Flex stocking/aquascape ideas
Hey guys! About to set up a fluval flex 15 gallon. This is gonna be a dream tank, I wanna splurge on what I spend on it.
Give me your stocking ideas and upgrades! and aquascape ideas. I’m comfortable making it a species only tank or a community, and comfortable with everything from annual killifish to cichlids to shrimp to reef fish… I will hunt any species down, and willing to use aquabid lol. so what do you guys think I should keep? How should I decorate it? Any tips for this tank?

Help Fish Suggestions for 30 Gallon
We are in the process of setting up a 30-gallon freshwater tank and will be buying the fish in a week or so. The only problem is I have zero clue what to buy! We will be adding in fresh plants and driftwood, or whatever is best for the type of fish we buy.
My dad had a high tank growing up with amazing fish like ghost knives, clown knives, an Arowana, a parrot, eels, and African cichlids. And, it seems, all of those really need a bigger tank than what we can do.
I don't really care for the schooling fish. I would love it if I could have an eel and a frog. :)
I would really appreciate any suggestions of fish! Or even an area and type to explore since what I wanted is now out of the picture.

Help Inhabitant options, 5 gallon Tank?
Hi All,
This is my first tank, and am currently cycling the tank (its about a week old). Looking for any suggestions for inhabitants, was thinking shrimp, snails, and “maybe” some swimmers… would this be way too small for Ember Tetras?
15” x 9.5” x 9.5 “ is the dimensions
Thank you!

Help Betta aggression towards Amano Shrimp, would more shrimp help?
Hello,
I got a betta about a month ago and about a week ago I got 2 amanos for the tank which is a Fluval V spec. The first day I got the shrimp they were super active and exploring the tank, the betta took a couple swings at them but eventually began ignoring them for the most part. However things have changed since that first day.
Now it's been about a week, the tank is heavily planted and theres lots of hiding spots so I barely see the two shrimp. When I do see them I noticed they scurry off and hide because the betta closes in on them and lunges for a bite. I do want the shrimp to be more confident and active specially because I really need their help with clearing algea off my plants. I had already planned on adding more Amanos to the tank given that the betta wasn't overly aggresive, but do you think that'll help make the betta less aggressive since he'll be desensitized to their presence? Would the shrimp feel more confident around the tank?
The betta is a long fin so hes pretty slow, therefore im not too worried about physical damage to the shrimp too much since they can get away pretty easily and the betta always does a single lunge, then gets bored and swims away. They're also big enough that they cant fit in the betta's mouth. I also have a plan to separate the betta into his own tank if he refuses to accept roommates.

Discussion Stock ideas (4 gallons/15L) - conditions in description
Looking for ideas for this tank, i wanted a betta but after scapping, it decreased the swimmable space and it now has the minimum volume for betta. I was looking for plakat but I saw somehwere saying that specially this type of betta requires a bit larger tanks compared with the longer fins ones ( that i dislike, unfortantly).
Built in filter with sock at the water entrance to decrease flow.
Ph 6-6,2 kh 3-6 Gh 6-10 Tds 250
In this way, is it a shrimp only tank the best option? A bit sad about not putting fish in in tho

Help Advice on Tankmates
Not your typical “nano” sized tank but this is my 20g long tank. Current fish are 3 male endlers and ~12 Pygmy cories. Plants are frogbit and salvinia which cover ~80-90% of the surface, two small Amazon swords, some Rotala species (I think) and a bunch of short val. My water is fairly high pH (7.6-8.0) with GH12-13 and KH3-4.
My plan is to get maybe 2 of the below options but I’m looking for suggestions or advice on how they all might get along.
Scarlet badis (buy 4-5 and hope for a few females and give away excess males to keep aggression down)
12-15 CPD
12-15 emerald rasboras
7-10 of a pseudomugil rainbow fish species
