Identified, high confidence Found this off the coast of Northeast Florida. Iridescent in the middle and spiny on the outside. Looks like a shell but can't find anything that looks like it in any guides online.

Yes, this is a complete ripoff of whatsthisbug.

If you have a photo of a fish you'd like to identify, submit it here and we'll see if we can figure out what the hell it is.

In your post title, please include where the fish was, and when, or at least the source of the photo, in your post title. If it was in an aquarium say what you know about the type of tank it was in (freshwater or salt? does it cover a particular region or type of habitat?)

Before you post, we are not going to kill it with fire, so don't ask (or shoot it with an arrow, or throw it on the bank) Thanks.
