Should I get this?

Post image

I can't find the cadet that's already assembled so has anyone tried to assemble the cadet with this flytanium set on their own?

I personally find the price outrageous for something that is not an upgrade to the functionality of the knife. It's not like it saves a lot of weight or anything.

Weight isn't something that's my concern, I just like titanium 🤣

I like titanium too, but I wouldn't pay 70 bucks for scales.

I actually want more weight on my Spartan. It's very light. My Forester that I carry hunting has a nice weight to it.

I thought I was the only person who wants a little heavier knives, didn't wanna say that first because I felt like i would be downvoted 😂. But cadet is indeed a little too light... Half the time I'm nervously grabbing my pockets thinking it's gone forever.

This was the reason for me. I'd be constantly grabbing to make sure it's still there lol

Its upgrade to cleanability and quick swapping tools though

Please, do not forget that we are talking about a slip joint knife. The backsprings are under constant pressure. That means assembling the knife without a jig to hold things in place may very well turn into an exercise in patience or an outright shit show. Tool swapping option may be nice though:)

This is an important comment

I've bought new scales on ali from CN. looking fine so I would recommend this. Knives and Tools is a bit overpriced in my opinion.

It's pretty hard to find flytanium in Europe in my experience

It’s doable, takes some good preparation also good tools like mounted drill makes it significantly easier imo. If you don’t want to do it yourself then I can recommend w3rktrieb you can find him on IG or directly on Etsy. Just message him and he will build one for you be aware that this is often pricier than doing it yourself.

You can just buy the screws and bolts and use the original alox scales of the cadet…

2

You can even buy screws and bolts, a bantam alox and an evolution 14 and realizing a Bantam X

I have the fat carbon version on my cadet, and they work quite well. I wanted to swap a couple tools around, and the bolt together aspect of the scales made it very simple.

Neat. If you like it go with it.

I am absolutely happy with the alox.

And yes, flytanium is expensive.

I’ve been collecting clean copper from hard disk motor windings, my goal is to make my own copper scales. I’ve done hardwood and antler, this is my next project. Have over 100 SAKs to play with, from a TSA auction.

I want Tungsten scales

Too plain for my liking. I normally go with micarta plus scales. Lighter and has a lot more functionality.
