NKD - Compact!
My first truly new Victorinox, as up until now I’ve been stalking eBay for deals.
I started my descent into madness in December, planning on modding a Yeoman from an Explorer and a Compact to be my one SAK, but now I’m not so sure. I’m using the small blade on the Explorer waaaay more than I imagined. BUT, I much prefer the can opener on the combo tool to the standard Victorinox dedicated one. This does matter to me, as I eat cans of soup the two days I’m in the office.
I had an Amazon gift card burning a hole in my pocket, so I figured I’d try out the Compact to see if it fits my EDC needs. I appreciate just how much they managed to cram into two layers, but I’m not sure how comfortable I am without the Phillips diver. No idea what my final EDC will be, but I’m looking forward to the process of finding out!

Advanced Hobocraft w/ ALOX
Used to do this years ago. Posted it on boards when I was more active in collecting Vics.
You longtime collectors might remember me as SAKGuy. 😁👍

Pin
Today I learned that the 91 mm (3.5") models come with a hole for a pin. A straight pin fits into the hole perfectly. If you leave it sticking out about 1/8" then you can get it out pretty easily and it still clears the corkscrew.

Pin!
Today I learned that the 91 mm (3.5") models come with a pin hole, even if it's not an advertised tool! On my Explorer it's under the corkscrew, and a regular straight pin borrowed from my S.O. fits into the hole perfectly. I'm leaving it so the head is about 1/8" out from the plastic. That makes it easy to get out and still clear the screw part of the corkscrew.

Changing 111mm scales question
I just bought a set of red dual density scales for my Forester. I realized that I've never changed nylon scales. Is there anything special about them or do I just use hot water to remove them like cellidor scales?

SOTC Jan 2025
I started the year with I think 4 SAKs and ended up with 15 by the end of it
- Classic SD alox lime twist
- Classic SD alox
- Classic SD
- Signature
- Rambler
- Manager
- Cadet
- Waiter
- Waiter with custom plus scales
- Walker 11.Sportsman
- Sportsman #2
- Spartan
- Compact
- Companion
For my next one I'm thinking Explorer or even a swiss champ. I'd like a model with the inline phillips but I'd also like a model with the pliers. The champ of course has both, but then again it is much larger than any SAK than I currently have and I don't like having things on my belt. Also a Champ is about 2-3x the price of an explorer...

Am I the only one?
Am I the only one who really doesn't like to see painted alox scales? I mean, those nail polish, vintage looking, used feeling, kind of paint?

My favorite EDC
I like to wear a mini SAK of some sort on a lanyard as my EDC & my white rambler is one of my faves, thought I’d share.

Should I get this?
I can't find the cadet that's already assembled so has anyone tried to assemble the cadet with this flytanium set on their own?

What tools would be on YOUR ideal pocket knife?
Here is my list.
• Large Blade • Small Blade • Can Opener • Bottle Opener • Scissors • Woodsaw • Screwdriver • Magnifying Glass • LED Light • Corkscrew • Awl • Hook • Tweezers • Toothpick • Pen
The closet thing they have to this so far is the Huntsman Lite, but if they removed the extra screwdrivers and replaced them with a magnifying Glass and added a pen to it, then it would be PERFECT.
What would YOUR ideal knife have?

Inline phillips put to work
galleryPicked up a used explorer on eBay with a blunt blade and wonky scissors but the Phillips is awesome on this thing. Put a small amount of shrink tubing inside the leatherman bit adapter and it fits very snugly to accommodate a makeshift cybertool. Very useful for projects around the house, but maybe a little heavy for EDC

I Use my SAK bottle opener as a pry bar ALWAYS
Number one use for my sak is prying stuff, just wondering if I should get a prybar? Its not like HEAVY prying so I doubt the sak will snap..
(Might be more of a post for EDC)

Cool ramblers
I see the military inspired Ramblers on DLT, are there any other cool special editions out there? I’m looking to add one to my collection. Green is my favorite color, I also think the black scale SAK is the best looking outside of ALOX

question
question
i love this knife. i have the annual editions and those i will not change. this one is part of my edc rotation. i'm not a fan of blasted or tumbled finishes. how difficult/safe (for the knife) is it to drive out the pivot? what diameter is the pivot? is there a pivot bushing? could i tap the pivot on one or both sided and use screws? i want to give the blade a hand sanded satin finish.

Is this a genuine Victorinox vintage knife? Couldn't find the tang stamp combination
galleryDear community,
do you think that this knife is a genuine Victorinox vintage knife? For me, it looks like one, but I did not find the tang combination "Inoxyd" / "Armé suisse" in sakwiki.com's tang stamp guide: https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Tang+Stamp+Guide
Which model is this and what's the estimated value in USD (in your opinion)?
Thanks for your answer!
