Is there any reason not to use BO and FAW together? Someone said that the mixed firing modes conflict with each other...

In addition to the cooldown issue, a lot of BO builds end up taking the Gagarin's Entwined Tactical Matrices trait, which gives you FAW I when using Torpedo Spread and frees up the BOFF for something else.
