Question Troubleshooting my poor handgun aim

I currently only have access to a 25 yard range and I feel like my accuracy has went down some since I first “got over” flinching when I shoot.

A possibility is that my red dot is zerod in for 15 yards. I made that choice because I believe legally you can only use your ccws at 15 yards max in a self defense situation where I’m from. Still my rifles are set for 25 and I’ve hit paper pretty consistently at 50 yards. Not sure if the difference is greater at closer ranges.

Another possibility is red dot placement. I used to think as long as the dot was on target that’s where the bullet should go but I guess the dot has to be like right above the front sight or something?

Any other ideas of what I could work on?

Hunting Got a new recoil pad and ammo pouch for my Henry .45-70, so I decided to take it out in the woods and put a few rounds through it. Brought along my replace 1858 Remington since it matches the Henry so well.

History Check out Social Democracy, a game where you roleplay the Socal Democrat Party in Weimar Germany.

Your goal is to stop Hitler from taking power as your country's post-war economy collapses and the NSDP outmaneuvers you and your allies at every turn (this game is fucking hard, even on "easy"). It's a Choose Your Own Adventure type game, were you manage a political party, your governing coalition, and matters of state if you're in power (and partisan activities if you are not). In my playthroughs my biggest difficulties came from how much leftist support you have to give up to even remain in a position where you can implement policies that might improve anything, leaving your party a husk of its former self by the endgame.

I know this isn't a gaming or history sub, but the hours I spent on this game made me want to do a deep dive on the roots of German fascism, the role of partisan militias in crisis politics, and how right-wing groups actually benefited the most from the economic instability following the Treaty at Versailles. There are definitely some discomforting parallels that can be drawn regarding our own situation here in the US.

Anyway, you can find the game here. It's web-based, but I think you can download it on Android. Enjoy!

Edit: Also it's free. Maybe I should have lead with that.

Found in a firearm store yesterday. It’s a pretty big sticker (size of my hand) and I was honestly floored at how it specifically calls out Marxists and Maoists. Remember, this is what a portion of the gun community thinks of us. Please stay safe out there comrades!

Question Question

I'm currently looking at purchasing my first firearm and am between the Glock 19 and the Smith and Wesson M&P series - as price is an issue currently, I was looking at older generations to save money. Are there any functional differences between the generations of these two models or any pros and cons I should be aware of?

I see so many righty tighty goobers doing weekly sound offs, (PNWG 🙄) wondering if there’s the good guy version, interested in meeting folks in my area without paying a membership fee where I don’t know exactly who the $ is going to. Hope this doesn’t come off sketchy.

I’m in one of the more popular PNW cities, if you’re interested feel free to DM me so we can see if we’re close! 🌹

Question Hows The Chicago SRA?

Hey yall! Recently saw that Novara Media video about the SRA in Philly and it got me curious. I'm new to NE Illinois and I'm wondering how the Chicago chapter is? My goals are to get more familiar with firearms, safety, armed and unarmed self-defense, administering first aid, and to get involved with a local community! As a newcomer and racial minority, I'm not too comfortable with the idea of going to the predominantly white-and-right ranges in my area by myself. Took a look at the CSRA website and seems appealing to me, but I'd like to know some of the opinions of folks who are currently with the group or have been with the group!

edit: I'd initially typed NW instead of NE

Question Today I Bought My First Firearm

I got my first handgun today. Beretta PX4 Storm Compact F chambered in 9x19 Parabellum. I got it for personal defense. I have never fired a gun before, the closest I ever got to firing live ammunition was playing airsoft with a gas pistol (the gas pistol was a licensed replica compact PX4 Storm. And yes they do in fact field strip identically.)

Anyways on to my question. It came with a cable lock, and for the lock to be used I have to have the slide in the locked back position. How long can I leave the spring compressed like that? Logic dictates that a compressed spring will gradually lose its ability to recoil itself.

Am I just overthinking that.

Honestly I don't have to store it with the cable lock in place, it's literally just myself and my dog in my apartment, and no one I know has children. I also don't currently have any ammunition for it. Figured I'd buy ammo before I go with my friend (who offered to teach me to shoot) to my first lesson. Figured that's the safest thing to do till I really learn how to handle a firearm.

Question Question about personal security and joining

I'm interested in joining and getting involved in my local chapter. Should I be at all worried about sharing my personal information with the current political environment? What are the odds that an authoritarian govt would get the data and target SRA members?

Probably just being paranoid but was wondering how you guys all felt about it.

edit: Thanks for all the responses guys, gonna just try to do it as anonymously as possible

The news is reporting that the suspect had a suppressor on his long gun that he used in the fallowing shootout with police or at least had with him in his vehicle. I suspect that some politicians and anti gun groups will try to use this attack and the Luigi Mangione assassination to ban or further restrict the sale and manufacture of suppressors and other muzzle devices like blast regulators like the surefire warden.

Gear Pics It might be big, heavy, and a bit awkward but my CZ-52 has to be one of my favorite handguns. I love the way it looks, and it's interesting roller locking system. It makes some nice fireballs as well.
