"Richmond Center Optometry."

Doc does thorough eye exams for prescriptions and eye health. Found they're one of the only clinics in Richmond to have an optomap machine (that sees the back of your eye). Also, the front desk staff is nice too!

Ironwood Optometry also has an Optomap

FYI is the most pushy eye doctor. They will hold you hostage to make you buy something.

FYI is shit

Their prices are ridiculous now as well. My glasses cost $650 in 2020 (boss frames and lens with transitions, blue light filter, etc). The same lenses with different frames came out to $950 in 2024.

Dr. Herman Cheng is great - located in Richmond Centre (IRIS)

I know Herman from elementary school - glad to know he's doing well and a well respected eye doctor!

Richmond center Optometrist near LensCrafters the Bay. They recently switched owners, new equipment. The optometrist for me was very good. She Explained what each test did. We talked about LASIK and progressive glasses. Highly recommend.

Did they change owners again? In 2023, it was a new doctor (Dr. Khangura). The previous optometrist in that location didn’t send me a notice that they moved, so I just kept going to this location even after the switch. Dr. Khangura is great and not pushy with glasses/contacts sales. I’m about to book another appointment in January.

May be the same person. TBH I didn't go for a long time to that location. But, after going there, I know I'll be going back

Dr. Francis Cheung at Aberdeen Square is the best! I’ve been going to them since I was a child… I’m now 32. And now, her daughter is slowly starting to take over as well.

Can’t recommend them enough.

Ironwood Optometry is also amazing. My family has seen both Dr. Chan and Dr. Kim many times. They spend the time with you answering all the questions you may have and providing any insight you need

Be careful getting eyeglasses as they will say it is covered but when after you buy and insurance wont cover, the just say, we'll its your insurance not us. "She should have just said not sure if this eyeglasses is covered or not. So its your call" so then you'll not end up paying out of pocket.

It’s your responsibility to know about your insurance coverage before you purchase any glasses or get an eye exam. So not the clinics fault. Just a heads up.

Richmond Centre Optometry is great! Very through eye exams by the doctors. They go through every machine with you and doctor actually listens to your concerns. Highly recommend!

the doctor that works out of spec savers at terra nova is great. very nice and patient

I second this!!! Went for my very first eye exam in a while and the doctor was very kind and patient. The lady on the sales floor (who seemed like a manager) was being quite pushy and trying to sell me glasses that even the Dr. told me I don't really need tbh

Dr. Yu at union optometry. Super friendly hole in a wall and he's open 7 days a week.

Are you looking for an Ophthalmologist or an Optometrist? They are not the same. Ophthalmologists are usually referred by your GP or clinic.

Second ironwood optometry. No pressure, very helpful.

Dr Rob Pintwala is excellent.

Dr. Rob Pintwala is an Opthmologist/specialist. For glasses Rx, you’ll need to go to an Optometrist.

Ophthalmologists do Rx too - he did mine 6 months ago. They are just specialists, and considered “Dr” which is what I thought OP was looking for :)

Good to know he does RX for glasses. Most Ophthalmologist don’t and get sent to an Optometrist.

u/jackmeister8 3d ago

He was my ophthalmologist when my ophthalmologist was out of town and I had an emergency. Great guy!

For actually eye illness? Or to get a prescription?

I thought for actual illnesses, you need to get a referral from your doctor? I could be uninformed though haha.

u/CiarraiV 3d ago

You can choose your ophthalmologist but you'll then have to get a referral from your doctor to actually get an appointment with them.

Dr Karen Eddy at Blundell Eye Station is fantastic. Even though the doctors operate out of the eyewear store, there’s no pressure to shop there.

SpecSavers at Ironwood have eye doctors. Just went yesterday and it was a great experience.

Loblaw Optical at Superstore. Probably the most reasonable price for an eye exam in Richmond
