You’re all crazy Success/Cheers

This is not a tip or anything useful but I feel like I need to say it.

Just reading some of your stories I came to realise that Americans are made of a different thing.

You often have multiple jobs, sometimes study and the same time, have kids or taking care of someone. Have no healthcare, pay everything out of pocket and somehow you still make it. And for the most part with a smile.

You guys probably don’t realise this but it’s unbelievable for a lot of folks in Europe. You’re very hard workers and kuddos for that.

Keep it up.

Oh don't worry the smile is fake

Is that actually true? I’ve often heard that American politeness/friendliness is fake and performative but I assumed that to European sensibilities it’s more a bit clumsy and over eager.

I was raised in the American south as a woman so there's a ton of pressure to be nice and acquiescent all the damn time. I like people but it's exhausting and it's definitely expected to smile all the fucking time

Ugh yup I can imagine! It sounds surreal and must be exhausting if it’s borne out of expectation and not a mutually fulfilling and genuine interaction 😐
