I just don't know how stupid you should be if you're thinking this release is ok and people will eat it. Ofc it's a money disaster and TornBanner already fired most of the NMRIH team, which were working on a game since 2022 including art designers and the composer Garret Linguist known as "Thought'" which composed almost every non-ambient track for the first game.

What the hell went wrong though. The early look at gameplay footage looked vastly different than the slop that they cobbled together for the release.

Torn Banner wanted to revolutionize something that didn't need it, much like a lot of gamedev nowadays. Always trying to make something new and inferior instead of looking back at what worked and what is very fondly remembered, not just from NMRIH1 but many other games made at the time as well. Also because the game was entirely reworked more or less under a year right after TB gained full access. Scrapping original work done on the game. Why? I dunno, maybe quick profit because of how gullible a modern gamer is and an apparent epidemic of Stockholm Syndrome towards scummy publisher and/or devs.

Just a case of devs lacking creative control and freedom to make the game they wanted. Many of these studios that are trying to "make it big" are falling into a very terrible trap that makes them think that next gen graphics will make the game really good. So now, more time is spent trying to optimize the game with a shiny new game engine, instead of working on features and mechanics that make the game fun for the original niche player-base.

Publishers and their greed are ruining games for everyone, even the people making them, the devs were forced to switch to the new UE5 engine and forced to push out an unfinished game as soon as possible.

Now, this is where kickback from the community led to poor game design and user experience. The sequel was more fast paced featuring rootin tootin shootin and bunnyhops and no infection chance. Now that they are changing features, it becomes an impossible deformed mess, where you still expect players to play fast paced but, players are forced to slow down and be more careful, all while being expected to hold off waves upon waves of runners.

Originally was being made on UE4, and Torn Banner made them switch to UE5. I've heard that caused some problems.

TB made them switched to UE5. Apparently, everything was really close to being finished, yet they were forced to switch to UE5.

TornAsshole went in and basically Torn the entire thing to shreds

Why tf didn't they wait till they had a bunch of maps? Do they expect the community to do what they did with source? It has to be impossible, right?

It was such a failed launch. This should have been a free alpha test like vein or such to help gauge interest in the project

I spent $40 bc I believe in them. As betrayed as, feel I still believe they will un-fuck themselves with time.fingers crossed

Hey I’m right there with you. They’ve got my money so I’ve got nothing but hopes and dreams at this point

It's fuken bf2042 all over again.im ready to eat a fucking bullet

u/Ok-Shotenzenzi 2d ago

Maybe that is why you can literally do that in the game. They knew the players were feeling it. LoL

looks at KSP2

Yeah, I don't have my hopes up. I didn't get either because of a lack of content and missing features. Hopefully NMRiH2 won't go that route.

It might be fun to pick up with friends or play solo way down the road, yeah.

Greedy publishers forcing devs to release an unfinished build of the game in order to scrape up some money. It's pretty simple if you just look at the way gaming is trending.

This is what you get for fucking players over, Torn Banner

seems like its Torn Banners speciality. as a longtime Chivarly enjoyer it's pretty aggravating to see that company ruin another great IP.

Supposedly monthly updates and most recent update was WEAK

Some triple AAA company but it's amateur hour with this studio

7-8 years have passed and the sequel to the game I have been looking forward to is a joke. But I'm glad I didn't buy it.

Tbh, I bought the game bc I like the concept, played for 20h and since then I wait. And i expect to wait for another 6 months until this game is really worth playing again.

We can only hope it survives that long and they can manage to bring back players after this rough start. But in the end it’s their own fault they released it in such an early stage.

u/Vexonal 2d ago

Spot on. I played about 20 hours and throughly enjoyed my time with it, but there’s nothing there right now. I’ll come back once more maps and content come out, but there’s nothing driving me to do the power plant again.

u/hellranger788 2d ago

It was in HORRIBLE condition when it launched, EA or not. Lack of content. Basically it was a cash grab attempting to use a well known name to get people interested.

u/4rtoria 2d ago

Very unlikely, but still hoping the original team can come out and release the original build under a different name and develope from there. NMRIH 2 feels just like another B4B.

torn banner destroys everything they touch

1

u/aStugLife 1d ago

Yes they do. Maxx was a clown hitching his wagon to them and now his entire team is gone. Cool plan, man. Really nailed it.

5

u/Sokolov49 2d ago

It's deserved and the only reason it hasn't shut down is because people keep buying it and not refunding thinking that it can be turned around like Cyberpunk or No Man's Sky. By doing this you're just letting the devs know you will eat up anything with minimal work done on the game, they're not your friends and they're definitely not passionate about the game nor want to follow the source material.

I can't believe this even needs to be said, some people are just incapable of thinking for themselves

It's not sad, it's expected when a company doesn't respect the ideas of the previous game.

2

u/Damocles875 2d ago

I dont know why they changed it into another extraction game

2

u/TheLightningL0rd 1d ago

I remember that an Extraction mode was supposed to be like, a stretch goal or something like that originally. Now Torn Banner made it the only mode : (

Noooo NMRIH! going down! No way!!!

1

u/Raptmembrane 2d ago

This reminds me of ZPS and Contagion.

3

u/LFOnes333 2d ago

Contagion is a good game.

4

u/TheLightningL0rd 1d ago

I really enjoyed Contagion. Felt like Resident Evil Outbreak in a first person shooter.

u/Similar_Parking_1295 2d ago

Could be such a great game though. I hate seeing a lot of potential in games but the work is just not getting done.
