Deeply unfortunate she had to retire after this

"Congratulations to Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance on their victory," Deputy Political Director Alex Latcham said in a statement. "After four years under Kamala Harris, Hawkeye state voters are eager for President Trump to fix what Kamala Harris broke. Starting on Day 1, President Trump and Vice President JD Vance will help to ease costs, secure the border, and protect Social Security for retirees like Ann Selzer."

Nah that was a good burn. If it were the other way around you’d agree,

No, it’s wildly unprofessional and a douche move. And for what reason? In addition to getting mad at pollsters being absurd on its face, in 2020, she predicted Trump would do better in Iowa than other pollsters did. Republicans are such hostile aholes for no reason.

Believe it or not, comedy can—and often does—come at the cost of another person (especially when your off by 17 points). It’s called a burn; and you’ve gotta suck it up.

Comedy? Huh? It’s a statement about the election from the Iowa GOP’s deputy political director, not the Daily Show. The fact that I have to explain this is mind-boggling to me. Our country’s measuring stick for appropriate behavior has been lit on fire. I hope you conduct yourself with a bit more composure than this Alex dweeb IRL because newsflash, in most industries (and countries), this kinda bs is frowned upon.

I think the more “mind-boggling” think that you somehow think this is a ‘new’ and ‘U.S. specific’ thing.

Politics have been like this for long, long time. And there’s NO WAY IN HELL Americans can beat some other countries when it comes to snarky burns. The best one I can recall right now is this one from the current prime minister of the UK—Kier Starmer. It was about Liz Truss—the then-prime-minister:

“A book is being written about the prime minister’s time in office. Apparently, it’s going to be “out by Christmas.” Is that the release date or the title?”

There’s no denial that the British House of Commons is a GOLD MINE for burns like this but even THEY aren’t an exception when it comes to “roasting” in politics. If you think this is a “current US thing” you might wanna consider coming out from under the rock you’re living under.
