Bad Exxon gas Help | Advice

Hi friends!

Has anyone gotten bad gas at Exxon in the last week, specifically from the one on Charlotte at the 65 overpass?

I filled up about half a tank on Wednesday, didn’t drive Thursday, and then Friday when I went to start my car it basically stalled and expelled a bunch of smoke. It’s since been towed to my shop and my mechanic found a post on Facebook about the Exxon on Shelby giving someone bad gas yesterday, so I’m trying to see if mine was affected too. I haven’t found any posts about it yet, unless I’m not in the groups people are posting in.

Definitely consider talking to a lawyer and documenting everything

The shop would need to diagnose it as bad gas first, but yes - I pay with the Exxon app so I have record of that transaction/visit. Originally the tow driver thought there was diesel in my tank, and my receipt says I paid for unleaded 😵‍💫

Also my insurance covers instances like this as well thank god lol

What claim would be needed to cover this for insurance? I’m curious because I had a friend get bad gas at an Exxon in East Tennessee.

When I called Progressive I asked if comprehensive coverage also includes damage from bad gas or incorrect gas if it wasn’t my fault/intentional - I had checked the comprehensive coverage documents and it didn’t mention it specifically. The agent said yes, they cover any damages caused by “bad gas” as comprehensive coverage basically means any damage that isn’t caused by another vehicle or standing object (pole, wall, things to crash into etc)
