Leatherman + Victorinox Mod question (UK mostly) Modding

I basically want to replicate this one since it's exactly what I need. (Topic is archived and can't ask there)

https://www.reddit.com/r/multitools/comments/1d4kqru/leatherman_skeletool_scissor_mod/#lightbox

The Skeletool platform plus the 91mm scissors will make it UK legal as well since no more locking blade?

Since the scissors will be locked on the liner lock. Will these scissors be considered ilegal since they lock? Don't really want to cut the liner lock as well and though maybe to ask before I start the project.

Thank you.

AFAIK there's no hard and fast rule and is likely to come down to police trying to prove a point. Although bladed, scissors (or a screwdriver, piece of plastic with a sharp edge, rolled up magazine, etc) are distinct from a knife, unless there's evidence that the object is being carried as a weapon. If the scissors, whether on a tool or not, don't have a particularly rounded tip, and they're short and the joint would limit penetration depth, it's harder to argue they're a stabbing weapon. A big pointy pair of kitchen scissors, less so. It also looks like the mod linked doesn't lock open at 180, which probably helps.

e.g. For a cheap multi-tool to leave in the car, mostly to have pliers, I just snapped the locks off.

Thank you so much!

Why I want to remove as much doubt on my end, since 91mm sak scissors are legal and the resulted multitool has no actual blade.  But as you said yeah, it boils down to whom you will encounter.

Will find a way to disable the lockbar if it still engages somehow, through an oversizes washer maybe.

If not, I will just get a Cybertool and call it a day.

Cybertools are pretty nice as an all-in-one if the pliers are enough for what you need. I've gone back and forth over the years but tend to keep separate items in a small wallet for pocket EDC because it's often handy to be able to use more than one tool at once and replace items when damaged.

Indeed. I migh even trim the cybertool M to exactly what I need. Have a bit of experience when I did my Alox Rambler (took an alox mini champ and thin it down).  Will see how it goes and maybe make a video or a thread here.
