Is this suitable as a first grow light?

Specs: 14 Watt, 650 Lumen, 4000 K, Width 53 cm (21 inches)

I'd also like to know does it matter if I keep the light turned off during night or day for 8 hours? Is it preferred to follow the natural lighting when growing in a room with windows.

Thank you all! I'm very excited!

How to get started?

I have trays and seeds (going to grow mostly broccoli, radish, mustard greens). But what's the best soil to use? I've read that a mix of peat and perlite works or coconut coir?

Advice

The restaurant I work at has tons of these drink carriers that they just keep around and I wanted to up cycle these into a microgreens farm. I thought they’re be perfect because of the holes already on the bottom and the fact that they stack.

I already bought dehydrator mats as a medium and was thinking of doing a hydroponic system with them stacked together.

What could I do better? I really want this idea to work out 🥲

Need info on selling my greens!

So i've got everything set. My variety of seeds and my packaging are ready to go.

now...

How do you suppose i approach different clients?

I want to look at

  1. Farmers market

2, Restaurants

  1. Retailer (grocery store)

Do I go in with like a Square product and take payment there?

Do I invoice them?

Do I setup a website that allows for order placement?

These are the questions currently occupying my brain and any advice towards a solution is appreciated!

Should I focus only on growing microgreens or also manage marketing and content creation myself?

Help, can anyone tell me what are these white specks my coco coir?

Post image

We’ve had this happen twice now and the first time threw out the whole batch, this time I’m trying to find a way to treat or at least save some of the coir. I assume it’s mold, but it’s not the white spiderweb kind that sometimes grows in the microgreens trays. This seems drier and more “ball” like. After doing some google searching I’m not sure it’s mold at all. Has anyone else had this experience and know if a safe way to handle it? Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello everyone quick question from a newbie about led light strip and timing

Post image

Hello everyone

Want to start my first micrgoreen project in the cheapest manner using items from temu

About to order 4pc silicone propagator trays with a very cheap led strip rather than led bars

So I want to order a 2m led strip full spectrum but I want to have this on a timer

I want the best possible timer attachment without using a conventional plug timer to make the whole set up look neat

Any tips or suggestions and will this light be suitable for a 4pc tray vertical setup

Ps I've bought 3m strip incase I want to go double and increase light amount and any excess I'll cut off

Can I use something like this I just found this on AliExpress: £0.87 | 5V 5W USB Fan Governor Timer LED Dimming Module Voltage Adjustable Speed Controller https://a.aliexpress.com/_Ev5B1FK

Very eager to start my endeavour

Kindest regards

Seeds fine to use?

This is probably a dumb question, but how long can seeds be used? I just found a box of various seeds I purchased for growing years ago. I only got through half the pack. They all seem fine. There's no mold or anything. Is it fine to use them now? I believe I purchased them in 2020.

A message to all the new growers:

Been growing commercially for almost five years. We still screw up. A lot. Relax. Plant some more. Enjoy the process. Growing is good for the soul.
