Housing Cabin building-do I need to be a carpenter?
Hi all,
I'm thinking of taking a cabin building workshop either here or in the UK sometime next year. I was wondering if I get to certain level of skill (obviously it would take more than a solitary course) over the next few years could I then set up a small log house/garden room type business without being a qualified carpenter? I'm currently an apprentice electrician so any electrics could be officially signed off on, I'm wondering does similar clearance pertain to the structure itself? I don't want to insult any carpenters as I'm aware it would take years to get to their level, I'm just wondering if I got capable in a fairly narrow aspect of the trade could I then legally setup a business based off that?
Thanks in advance!

Moaning Michael Just need to get this off my chest
I feel like such a fucking idiot. Got stopped in the street by a young (Roma I think) lady and an even younger girl asking could I get them a kebab, I tried to keep walking as I know what usually happens but they wouldn’t leave me alone and they eventually convinced me to buy them “a few bits” in spar. I caved in the face of all of their sob stories knowing full well I was probably getting hoodwinked and lo and behold €110 they spent. I’m a student and I genuinely can’t afford this but I just couldn’t bring myself to say no. I’m not looking for advice I’m not looking for “just ignore them just walk past”. I know. I fucking know. I just couldn’t ignore the part of me that said they probably need it a lot more than I do but Jesus Christ. Gah

Christ On A Bike Have Notre Dame (the American college) Trademarked “Irish”?
So I’m skiing behind this lad, catch up with him at the line for the chairlift and ask where in Ireland he’s from. Turns out he skis for the aforementioned American college. Then I noticed the little TM after Irish? Seems weird that they could trademark the word Irish to describe a team or otherwise?

Entertainment This Christmas TV's offering has been shockly bad
How the hell dose our national broadcaster justify putting not one but 2 episodes of Killinaskully (from bloody 2008) on what one would imagine one of the easiest times of the year to get viewership (Christmas Week).
And on the other side of the channels gotta love Virgin Media showing Die Hard With A Vengeance the only one of the original trilogy not set up Christmas.
But to give the devil his due One Night in Millstreet was a cracking watch last night
Moaning Michael How has driving gotten so bad?
4 pedestrians dead this week already, you would think that it would encourage people to be a bit more careful. But, I have seen two drivers blow through red lights in the last two days.
The second of which decided to get mad at me because I landed at the top of a queue of traffic just as a light was about to go red and I just didn’t speed through.
When we finally did get through he drove up in the lane beside me, beeping and screaming at me to roll down the window. When I just smiled and waved at him, he sped up, pulled his van in front of me and pulled on the brakes, wouldn’t go at the next green light to try and get me to engage with him, I didn’t, wouldn’t even beep my horn at him.
When he finally did go, he kept trying to brake suddenly, but I stayed well back from him. He finally realised he wasn’t going to get engagement from me, he blew through a red light at speed that had pedestrians walking through it, thankfully they had time to react.
I have all of this on dash cam and his reg, but there is no point in reporting to the Gardai, they have no interest in doing anything. Driving is gone to shit since Covid and until the Gardai get serious about prosecuting minor road offences, we are going to continue to see road deaths rise.

Moaning Michael Banking over Christmas (no wages)
I get paid every Thursday. Wages usually appear just after 8am. Needless to say, this week Thursday 26th (Stevens Day) no wages paid. Rang the boss, he said it was automatic. Wages were transferred but are showing as Pending on his system. I rang BoI and they said there is a backlog in processing due to the bank holiday on Thursday. It's now Saturday and still no wages and It looks like i won't get paid until Monday (30th). How, in this day and age, can it take 4 days to process a digital transaction if it falls on a mid-week bank holiday? It's crazy
