Anyone switched from Samsung to iPhone? Discussion

Loke the title says, has anyone here owned a Samsung Galaxy before and then switched to iPhone? I'm thinking about doing that, currently have the Galaxy S24 and thinking of getting the iPhone 16 Pro Max, but I want to see if anyone has made a similar change before and what it was like adapting to a phone and system you've not used before.

I own both the s24 ultra and the 16 pro.

My ultimate conclusion is that you need to figure out what’s best for you and seek the system that provides that best. There will be trade offs regardless.

The biggest dealbreaker for me is that Android notifications aren’t as useful to me as Apple notifications.

I want my text messages to show text while my phone is locked and Android only does icons. Never displayed text.

I need text to show on the phone’s Always on Display WHILE also locked. Apple does it.

The second biggest reason I chose Apple was for a smaller phone. My last two being the s24 ultra and a 14 pro max. This time I went with a 16 pro. Not max.

I’m sure there’s good Android phones that are smaller with equal hardware. But I didn’t get that far.

My third reason is mag safe. I use MagSafe charging all over my house and office. I love just clicking my phone on a charging Magnet and then forgetting about it. No worry about alignment.

I had tried two separate MagSafe compatible cases with the s24 ultra and found them to be unreliable. Worked 90% of the time. But never perfect. iPhone offers perfect MagSafe.

With all of this said. The s24 is a fantastic phone. I feel the screen is prettier.

It gets notifications an easy 5-10 seconds sooner than my iPhone which I loathe for the iPhone.

I also love the fingerprint reader.

I don’t like extreme comparisons. Because there is no one size fits all. You need to evaluate what you specifically as an individual needs and then find the right phone for you.

For me. I need a phone I can snag on a magnet 4 feet away and read incoming messages as they arrive without unlocking or touching my phone.

Yeah, that’s what people keep telling me, and I’ve still never had anyone actually get it to work.

If I wasn’t out of the country on a business trip I would humor you and go through it together just to see if you’ve got some magical answer, lol.

Anyways, to expand on what I mean, because I don’t want to leave you hanging with what probably looks like an arrogant take. I’ll type it out in more detail.

With the Samsung phone, there’s basically TWO lock screens. There’s a darker Lock Screen when you don’t interact with the phone at all for awhile. And there’s another more lit up lock screen if you tap on the screen or pick the phone up.

My problem is I need text messages to appear on the first, darker, Lock Screen. I want a message to show in text on my phone without me having to double-tap the screen to wake it up.

A lot of people get confused and think that having the text show up after tapping the screen is what I want. But I want it to show text on the first Lock Screen.

It’s a lot easier to explain in person, and I shit you not, I’ve actually been offering people money and handing them my phone “make it do what I want, and I’ll give ya 20 bucks!” I’ve had over a dozen people try and all of them fail. So either I’m surrounded by idiots or android literally doesn’t do notifications like Apple, lol
