heads up, this is a repost! and for anyone curious, here's the original source of the image: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/amplifier-porn.5695/page-13#post-306064 (there's some more satisfying amp wiring in that thread as well :)

Is it a tube amp ?

This is a tube amplifier. You can see the underside of the sockets for the tubes. The tubes are at the other side of plate where everything is mounted

I kinda guess those were socket for tubes but I wasn't certain

If you do an image search "jukebox tube amplifier" most pictures you get show images of the other side. The tubes are exposed at the other side while all the wiring is covered. This is not only a neat display for the tubes but also very convenient for maintenance purposes. You can replace any tube without having any electrical part exposed. You can check the functionality of any tube and the expected voltages at any pin of any socket with greatly reduced risk of getting shocked while the device is fully in operation. More than 90% of all potential issues can be diagnosed easily this way. If it's just a broken tube you don't even have to open the device any further and the issue is fixed quickly

It counts to audiophiles who buy $1000 patch cables

I dont get the comparison - I am not a $1k cable audiophile person but I do think this qualifies as cableporn for its layout and cleanliness, but maybe as per sub rules its /r/cablemanagement due to size/diy project.

idk, looks clean af to me

This is beautiful work! From what I've seen there are very few people in the world today that have this level of skill and technique in wiring up a piece of kit like this. Truly an art not just a well learned skill. And you don't have to be an audiophile to appreciate.

That is some beautiful point to point soldering there.

looks nice, buuuut, i'm pretty sure that flies in the face of low noise design.
