Poundage drop after string replacement?
I just had the strings and cables replaced on my Bear Species EV, as the old ones were starting to go. Brought it to the local shop and had them replaced with GAS high octane strings and cables.
The bow was at 70 pounds, with 30” draw with the old strings. I haven’t checked the draw length yet but it feels the same, however, I lost over 5 pounds of weight and it’s sitting at 65ish now, and the let off and draw cycle feels much different now.
Any advice? I’d like to be able to make it 70 pounds again, as I worked pretty hard to get up to that, and my arrows are built for shooting at 70 or higher.

Even new strings that are pre stretched will settle and stretch a little after you’ve been shooting them for a while.
I run GAS High Octane on my bow and usually after a month or two I’ll have the poundage checked to account for that. Since I use a slider sight, usually when 20 yards on the sight tape is hitting low on a 20 yard target and I have to move the yardage wheel to 22-23 on the sight tape to hit 20 yards is when I know. Add some twists to the string and you’ll be good if your limbs are already cranked down all the way. This is normal, so nothing to worry about.
