Each of them to get into that squad had to do something that changed the soul society insanely... do we know what every single one of them did to get that?

This may just be me but I’ve always felt that post the SS arc Rukia is relegated to almost minor character status. She gets a couple really great fights (Aaroniero and As Nödt) but besides that it often feels like she’s treated like the rest of the soul reapers and not in the main cast. It especially hit me when she didn’t go with Ichigo and friends to the royal palace. I get in universe she’s a member of a squad and has duties there, but it almost feels like post SS Kubo didn’t know what to do with her.

Anyone else agree or if not why?

And if he did, was that whole "rage scene" an act?

I know how Askin's ability works - he can modify the lethal dosage of something to survive it/kill someone else with it - so if he was to fight Gin, would his bankai just...not work? Or would it still just kill him?

Apparently the consensus is that she's a one note bimbo, I guess. Initially back in the day I may have agreed but I've seen her in a different light after rewatching.

She's such a freaking nerd especially early on, like she's an absolute dweeb that day dreams about aliens and robots which she sometimes acts out in public, she has like 1 friend and no family and spends all her time alone, this causes her to have next to no social skills. She pines after the only guy she has any connection to.

She has a ditsy persona which is a self soothing response to her childhood trauma and loneliness, she also leans into it to avoid conflict. She's deliberately optimistic as a rejection of her trauma.

You might say I'm ready into the whole loneliness and childhood trauma thing, but I mean her powers manifest as imaginary friends that allow her to deny the parts of the world she dislikes. She's an empathetic character because she desires a connection to others, and the thing she's most able to connect with is pain.

Tatsuki, Ichigo, Chad, and Uryu are the closest thing she has to family These are all people that have extremely strong and defiant personalities, something she admires but lacks that strength in herself, it's why her powers are so weak.

This causes her to lean on Ichigo (and Chad) throughout the series, for her character Ichigo is her guiding light, just like she ends up representing that for him.

she has 4 people in her life losing them would be devastating , she's already dealt with the loss her brother. I'd say just the possibility of losing Ichigo is enough to trigger some serious trauma.

I feel like if her design was different if she was a bit meeker she'd be given more Charity. Nel constantly whines about Ichigo but since they're a 'child' nobody holds it against them. (Not hating on Nel) I think there's a weird force field causes people to bounce off the character.

Requirements for squad 0 are you must have made an important contribution to the Soul Society.

Imagine a an entire army of soul reapers like nemu. Who by mayuri's own words are souls made from nothing.

The soul society would have a large army at their disposal protecting the souls that come to soul society.

That's pretty big contribution if you ask me.

So just finished the manga and stuff and I was wondering if anyone had an answer. So Nimaiya is dead right? He created all the Asauchi and as far as I know at least no one else knows how so can any more be made or is there another new way to supply soul reapers with new Zanpakuto? Aren’t they screwed?

Both the new series and the original have the worst subtitles in the world. Not only are the translation poor such as putting the wrong name down (ie characters say kurosaki subs say Ichigo) but they don’t translate any text. In both series you sit there with zero clue what the kanji is meant to say cause they put zero text in for the translation. This is on both the sub and dubbed versions of the series its so stupid.

So I entered r/bleach some weeks ago while i was finishing tybw and the final oneshot after cour 3. Never posted but now I had THE enlightenment, being the nature of ichigo's possible powers after tybw and during the infamous arc whose name shall be forgiven. Keep in mind that some of the things here are theories and some others are canon. this will be a long post but not a boring one.

BIG SPOILERS AHEAD, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

ICHIGO HIMSELF

He is what he is, and by now he should have access to:

-Immense Reiryoku/Reiatsu, as noted by Yhwach when Ichigo confronted him.

-Peak human physiology, because of his heritage.

-Blut/Blut Vene, something he could master or have mastered and gives him a big defensive boost, and a general augment of physical performance.

-Merged Hollow Form/HOS, which we don't know if gives him Insta regen or Hierro. I think this form is a replacement for the classic Hollowification/Hollow Mask(we won't see Full Hollow/Vasto Lorde again, now White doesn't need to takeover to help his king). Despite the doubts we know he gives a huge boost to the user.

-Shunpo, and as we see when he reaches SS in TYBW also Sonido, but he probably can't use it at will.

-Theoretically, he could still have access to Bringer's Light(Fullbringer Shunpo,for dummies), as Rukia states his Fullbring powers are part of him, fact reflected on the alteration of Zangetsu after the Lost Agent Arc, but with Shunpo it would be pretty useless. Another mobility hack he could use would be Hirenkyaku, but that would require some training and even like that it could probably not be unlocked and it's not fitting with his combat style.

EQUIPMENT

-Ōken clothing(assuming the Shihakusho is still the same just without the armor or even a new one).

-Shinigami Substitute Badge, it is not a problem anymore but i'm not sure he still has it. Kazui turns to Shinigami in a Fullbringer-like way, it reminds me of Ichigo's 2nd Fullbring, the one with the flaming Shihakusho.

ZANPAKUTO

This will be the long and complex part. Most of the things you'll read from now on will be personal theories, because I wanted to break everything down.

SEALED ZANGETSU

I believe that the old-fashioned Zangetsu in No Breaths from Jingle Bell(...) is just the Sealed form of Ichigo's true Shikai, or at least its sheathed form,without really being sealed, like when he couldn't seal it due to a constant Reiryoku release, or because he didn't have a proper Asauchi when he first unlocked his Zanpakuto, so what has been considered his Shikai for a long time could just be the remains of the old Rukia-powered big sword, which acted as the Asauchi and was imbued with Ichigo's soul and altered in its form. This would totally change the perspective on Ichigo's first Bankai. We know that his first sword was just a manifestation of all his powers, but the hypothesis of the so-called Shikai being just the sealed sword would make the first Tensa Zangetsu his Shikai, and even if its nature isn't linked to authentic Shinigami powers, it would mess up more than half of the lore about Ichigo's power(i heard someone saying it was something similar to a Vollständig and it just doesn't sit right with me) so let's put this back in Pandora's Box and go on with this "sealed form"s capabilities.

-It has a great raw power due to Ichigo's overflowing Reiatsu.

-The white fabric wrapped around it automatically adjusts itself. An useful perk, but nothing special.

-It probably can go back to Ichigo like Tensa Zangetsu did against Ulquiorra, but this couldn't be true depending on the presence of the "invisible chain" which connects the sword to him. This aspect won't be mentioned again in this post, due to it being a canon info when it comes to the other swords.

-It should be able to use Getsuga Tensho.

Pretty good for a sealed sword, huh?

SHIKAI

BIG SWORD

The large sword acts as the blade in the sealed form and represents Ichigo's Shinigami and Hollow powers which manifest as our boy White.This is a much debated fact but i consider it to be the blade even if i think the others could be right. What's important are the powers it can use and my thought is that it can also use only the abilities related to this side of our MC, so here's the powers it can use.

-GETSUGA TENSHO

Nothing to say here. But i considered a thing: what if he infuses Getsuga into the blade like he did a few times during the Hueco Mundo Arc and onwards? It's not that deep, just basic Reiatsu manipulation. It is an ability that probably runs in the Shiba blood(imagine Kaien using a cool ass water Getsuga[i'm delusional and Isshin is probably the only other user without counting Ginjo]).

-GETSUGA JUJISHO

It requires the other sword to do so, but the other sword can't do Getsugas alone in my opinion. Cool move but nothing special. The only thing changing is the form, there isn't any influx of Reiatsu from the small blade, for reasons I'll explain later.

-CERO/GRAN REY CERO

This one is really explicit in my opinion. He couldn't use Gran Rey Cero(Blood+Cero) without the normal Cero among his arsenal.

-GETSUGA GRAN REY CERO

Ichigo's ult🙃, the ability that could have killed that nasty Yhwach if he didn't have the HAXmighty(without it he was killed by a normal Getsuga) Basically just a Getsuga+Cero+Ichi's Blood with a cool shade of purple.

I think that to use the last two abilities, he probably has to activate his Hollow powers with the HOS and they aren't linked to the Zanpakuto, which only acts as a medium. Talking about other Hollow abilities, he probably doesn't have access to some specific ones like Bala or Pesquisa(the latter could be debatable as it would fit with no problem). Ichigo's mastery in Hollow attacks is second only to the Espada, but remember they are/were fully Hollows, while he's PART Hollow. Humans can swim, but they'll never reach the level of aquatic animals and swim better than them. They can't even breathe underwater, and this leads to another aspect: exclusive abilities. Ichigo probably can't use moves like Cero Obscuras as it is a move exclusive to our edgy cryface emo bat creature animal Ulquiorra and could possibly be linked to Murcielago itself, like fishes can breathe underwater when humans can't.

Let's go on

SMALL SWORD

Ichigo's small sword,which in my opinion is the scabbard and the white fabric of the sealed form. It represents his Quincy powers, taking the form of Old Man Zangetsu. The abilities I'll list aside from Jujisho will be all theoretical.

-GETSUGA JUJISHO

As said before, the small sword doesn't provide Reiatsu, but it was a lie. The thing it does is using the Reishi it collects. It is the representation of Quincy powers, so its purpose is none other than Reishi absorption and release.

REISHI ABSORPTION ABILITIES

The sword acts as a medium of Ichigo's Quincy abilities, so it could use some moves i came up with.

HEILIG BOGEN

The sword could transform into a classic Quincy bow and use the move called HEILIG GETSUGA PFEIL, which is basically the power of Getsuga Tensho taking the form of an arrow, which Ichigo could use in rare but still occurring ranged combat situations. The scabbard could manage to fire just normal Getsugas made of absorbed reishi, but let's assume those are exclusive of the big one.

CUTTING EDGE

The blade could be capable of empowering itself with a constantly vibrating reishi edge, similar to Seele Schneider, which would cut the link between reishi particles and give free Hollow kills.

Talking about abilities like Letzt Stil, Vollständig or Sklaverei, the sword is only a medium and those are linked to the individual. Ichigo would need a lot of time to learn them, but they won't fit his way of fighting. Ransotengai could be useful tho.

And now let's talk about THE Bankai(Ban-kai)

TENSA ZANGETSU

Ichigo's true Bankai unites blade and scabbard into a huge blade,which hides a blade free from the Hollow and Quincy influence. The attacks are the same, but Quincy and Hollow techniques must be used separately for reasons I'll explain later.

-BANKAI SPECIAL ABILITY

The unrevealed power of Tensa Zangetsu was foreseen by the Quincy King, that destroyed it immediately after its release because it threatened his victory against his "son born in the dark"(what a nickname i love it). The main theory regards this power affecting fate itself, but that would be SOO abstract, So here's my take: Ichigo's sword is linked to him, most specifically to his soul, with a Soul Chain-like thing. When in Bankai, the sword has the power of linking to both the user and the foe, checking their soul to detect evil and erase it, based on Ichigo's will. It oneshotted Yhwach because it senses the evil within him and this, combined to its master's will, boosted the attack to the point he killed him instantly. Basically, the chains measure the gravity of your sins(hence the translation of Tensa Zangetsu being "Heaven Chain Slaying Moon", like it has some godly connection).If Ichigo were to become evil, the sword would turn its back on him. Its Zanpakuto spirit would be the White Tensa Zangetsu from FKT arc(it makes sense, the Bankai melds the two swords and this spirit is the fusion of White and Ossan in their Bankai state),acting as an impartial judge of ambigous nature, union of two different charismas, a calm and collected one(OMZ) and a mood-swinging, unstable one(White most of the time), that both wanted to protect Ichigo. It is the sword of benevolence and genuine values, perfect for Ichigo's protective attitude towards his loved ones.

As i said, the attack are the same as the dual wield, but there's something to explain about Hollow and Quincy powers, and to do so i have to talk about THAT technique.

Three words.

FINAL.

GETSUGA.

TENSHO.

-MUGETSU

Along with Saigo no Getsuga comes this move, which converges all of Ichigo's powers into one pitch-black reiatsu strike with unclear powers(existence erasure?). Here comes the reason the different natures shall not be mixed. When he used Mugetsu, Ichigo had "fake" Shinigami powers which were one and the same with his hollow side. He knew nothing about his Quincy heritage and had no affinity with his inner Hollow either. Hollow Reiatsu is poisonous for Quincies, so the concept at the base of Mugetsu is that it eliminates both powers because their "merging" gradually kills both powers, leaving a black color as the result. Some sort of Soul Suicide-like shit. A smaller application of this concept could be found in him getting damaged by his reiatsu against Byakuya by the time White was taking over, possibly causing the overlapping. As i said, Ichigo didn't have "true Shinigami powers at the time, so if he were to use Mugetsu now, it comes to mind that the newly found Shinigami powers wouldn't be involved, however Isshin stated specifically it would drain his Shinigami powers, meaning he has it too but he only has Shinigami heritage, so the technique could be different for pure-blood soul reapers, meaning Ichigo's was influenced by his other powers. But if we think of it as the merging of all powers of the individual, it would be a deadly combo of Hollow/Quincy/Shinigami and possibly Fullbringer powers(linked to Hollows, I don't know if to count them as separate). With Ichigo's True Shinigami and Fullbringer power the process could be more complex and have worse drawbacks(possibly DEATH). Pretty busted i think. But does Ichigo really have access to it again? Yes, his powers came back, Getsuga is still there and White and OMZ too. He also knows the method, it was taught(or stabbed) him by tensa. Now that i explained we have. a clearer view. The only case Ichigo's Quincy side should interact with the Hollow is to trigger HOS. His powers are now stable, but that doesn't necessarily mean the process won't happen(maybe white and ossan could avoid it now that they're fully peaceful).

So how would this Ichigo scale? He is surely stronger than Yhwach not counting Almighty and he can take on some Squad Zero members(the problem could be their unknown bankais). He would prob beat but probably not kill Aizen(bcz Hogyoku) even if he's unsealed. He is obviously not Reiō level, but a close second for strongest in the verse based on what we know. The scary thing is some of this could be passed down to Kazui.
