Theory about Biases Theory

So I’m a baby ARMY (around a month). When I discovered BTS, I was at home recovering from surgery. I’m an older ARMY (in my 40s). I quickly realized my bias - JIN. Now, I didn’t have anyone to talk to about my new obsession so I was bursting when I finally went back to work.

Luckily I work at a school, so I quickly found the ARMY pre-teens and we started gushing. I’ve never seen them so animated! They asked me who my bias was and I told them. They all shrieked in judgment and collectively tried to convince me that liking Jin is weird and that Jungkook was the ONLY one worth talking about. (Teenagers, LOL)

First of all, I was shocked bc I didn’t know how popular Jungkook was and that a Jin bias is a bit of a minority (maybe?). My solo discovery into the BTS realm led me to believe the only obvious bias was Jin.

During this hot discussion, I saw one girl jumping down my throat. I asked her what she thought. And in a totally serious tone says - “It makes sense that you like Jin, he’s the oldest one and you’re the oldest person at this school.” Brutal! She proceeds to tell me that older people like Jin and young people like Jungkook.

So tell me - is her theory true? Do you’ll think that younger ARMY lean towards Jungkook and older ones to Jin?

I don't know if this "theory" is supposed to apply to fans just slightly older but I am the same age as Jin (92 liner) and my bias is Jungkook, with V close second. I love Jin because I love them all though, and I am appalled to hear about those young fans being so rude to Jin and really to all the members who are not Jungkook by the sound of it.

I tried telling them that that true armies love all of them but they weren’t having it. I get it, I was like that when I was young too.

Young ‘uns have such a black-and-white conviction about everything, so it’s no surprise same thing goes for their opinion on age-appropriate crushes. (For the record I’m 50-something, my ult bias is Jimin—he was the first to catch my eyes and ears—and Jin became my wrecker after discovering he shares my love of dad jokes 😁).

They tend to about certain things, don’t they? Then other days they blow me away with how they view the world. I’m lucky to work with young people every day.

Also remember that when I was that young, bias was contagious. So if one louder kid likes one member, all their friends would start to like the same member.

This. So I appreciate the young army who have a bias that’s not in the maknae line. Bc it kinda shows that they’re willing to form their own decisions.
