Thought we would share some of the various automotive-related communities around Reddit, as r/Autos is a more general automotive subreddit.

  • /r/MechanicAdvice - "This is a subreddit for asking Mechanical questions pertaining to vehicles, engines, etc."

  • /r/whatcarshouldIbuy - "Car advice for people who know jack about cars"

  • /r/AutoDetailing - "A subreddit dedicated to those car enthusiasts and beginners interested in keeping their vehicles clean."

  • /r/askcarsales - "Ask a car salesman, sales manager, or finance manager anything!"

  • /r/spotted - "I saw a car. I took a picture of it."

  • r/whatisthiscar - self explanatory

  • /r/carporn - "This subreddit is for high-quality pictures of high-quality cars."

  • r/autotransport - "A subreddit for all things auto transport related. Share articles, guides, pics and information in the auto transport space."

  • r/CarTalk - "Helping everyone with their car repairs and questions"

  • r/projectcar - "hit it with a spanner!"

Additionally, you can find a long list of make and model specific subreddits, as well as some specialty areas of the automotive world (like automotive gaming, motorsport, electric vehicles, 4x4s, etc) here: https://www.reddit.com//r/AutosNetwork/wiki/main

Hope this helps! Let us know if there's any other subs you feel like we should share with the community.

Already pulled out the rear seats and plastics for weight reduction. I think I saved at least a hundred pounds.

Best way to private sell cars?

All of my car parchases have been through dealers so far. I currently have 3 cars and want to sell one maybe two. I’ve posted on marketplace and have received hundreds of messages with no serious people. I’ve listed all cars at great prices, but people see that and think they can get the car for even less than the discounted price it’s listed at. Dealer trade in rates are super low as well. Looking to sell to people that are shopping for cars and willing to pay under market value without lowballing beyond reason

Why do you think some unreliable engines remain popular among tuners?

We have heard about the unreliablilty of Subaru Boxers, Mazda Rotary, and some BMW inline 6s and yet I still see so many high horsepower builds using these engines. Why do some engines known for being unreliable still stay popular with tuners?

If anybody knew where I can find a guide or something similar that would also help alot. I can provide more info about the car if needed. Thanks.

Jeep death wobble

Trying to figure out how true this rumor is. I’ve heard that the death wobble is “not rare” which is not specific enough. How many of you have experienced a death wobble within the first 60k miles of a jeep?

2008 corolla as first car

For a little context, I found this corolla on fb marketplace for 2800. The post said it has around 200k miles on it and a clean title. The only issues I see is the different front bumper and grille, and a slightly misaligned hood. Do you guys/gals think this is worth it and do you think it's a good platform to learn how to work on cars?

3rd Row Seat Options?

We're expanding the family and looking into 3rd row seat options. Currently our list consists of the Toyota Grand Highlander, Land Cruiser, Buick Enclave, and Tesla Model Y. I'd love the new 4runner, but who knows when that's coming out. While creature comforts are nice, we really only care about reliability and getting us where we're going on road trips. Trying to avoid the larger gas guzzlers if we can. Any recommendations for or against these models?

Transmission went out and warranty company not trying to pay

Hey guy I got a used dodge challenger and when I bought it I bought a third party warranty through the dealership to fix anything that happened with 60,000 miles or 5 years. So anyways my transmission is broke and the warranty company has denied to fix it on their behalf because they say they have proof I do burnouts and their proof is the rubber in my wheel wall… I don’t do burnouts and the car has 105,000 miles on it! I never clean inside the wheel wall because that seems like to much work and it always adds back up. Im pissed off because I paid for a warranty that is trying to dodge doing the right thing which is fix my car I would’ve never got the warranty if it was a fake pos company that wouldn’t do what’s right. What should I do I need them to fix this…

How many valve stems have you had fail over the years?

My girlfriend bought winter tires and wheels from a Honda dealership in early 2021. The first valve stem failed in March of 2024. I just had another one blow out last night. They were stored at the dealership for the first 2 years and after that they were stored in my garage, it's not as if these things were stored outside rotting in the sun.

I'm wondering just how many times the average person has had a valve stem fail on tires that are relatively new. I mean of course the rubber is expected to fail after the tires reach a certain age but these things are practically new. Thank you!

Brothers/Sisters, i am in need of some advice

Hope you had a great holiday season.

I’m in the market for a car with a budget of up to 25,000 EUR, looking around Germany and Central Europe. I’m after something reliable and practical, ideally with a good mix of performance, comfort, and modern features.

I’m open to both new and used cars as long as they’re in good condition and fit my needs.

It’s mainly for everyday use, so I’d like something efficient and comfortable but still enjoyable to drive. If you have any suggestions or tips on great options in this price range, I’d love to hear them!

My preferences: -Automatic -Diesel(or petrol) -Germany market/ Europe -So far checked some Q2 Audi / T-Rocs and XC-40 -Preferably >2020 (no folf or polos) *also i am using mobile.de

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Danke.

Considering Trading My 2023 Honda Odyssey for a Used Toyota Sequoia

We have a 2023 Honda Odyssey Touring (bought new), but I’m having some buyer’s remorse. We’ve had some seemingly minor electrical issues already which has me questioning the long-term reliability, even though I know Honda’s generally have a good reputation.

Issues we’ve had: radio has not worked a few times, device option not switching from headphones to speakers, Bluetooth was acting up and not connecting on a recent roadtrip, sometimes the front right parking sensor will beep continuously even when I’m not nearby anything so I turn it off, also sometimes the A/C doesn’t get as cold as it should but eventually it gets there after turning it on and off a few times or restarting the vehicle.

These don’t seem major, but for a new vehicle it has me concerned. I’ve read that post C-19, vehicle quality has been a bit hit or miss, and I’m considering switching to a used Toyota Sequoia (2nd gen, preferably under 100k miles).

We have two young kids and an older stepdaughter who is with us on family vacations but not so much on day to day driving.

Would love to hear from people who’ve gone from a newer, tech-heavy vehicle to an older, less techy ride like the Sequoia. We pay $913 a month now and this switch would also likely have us paying less but isn’t the driving factor.

Any insights, advice, or experiences would be really appreciated.

Good afternoon y’all and happy new year! For Christmas I picked myself up a used DEH-P3000IB for $20 on eBay to put in my 02 F150. My only issue is it doesn’t have the trim bezel. Anyone have one laying around or know where I can source one? Used is perfectly find as long as it’s in good condition. Thanks!
