Anyone know what this cherry looking thing is?

I was going for a walk somewhere in Brisbane and I saw these on the side of the road, google says they're Barbados Cherry but they're not. The inside isn't the same or the shape

The pit inside and internal structure to me does look like a true cherry, agreed not Barbados cherry.

I'm afraid I can't offer any more pointers, don't suppose you have any pics of the tree it came from?

Barbados cherry have 3 segments inside, with 3 seeds.

Indeed! Not in the Rosaceae at all. Though similar externally. The pit shown here is a good match for a true cherry, to clarify my earlier comment.

Looks a bit like a bush apple. Found on the side of the road on their own already picked? Just info about if you saw a shrub or tree could help 😌

Pretty sure it's "glossy laurel", Cryptocarya laevigata - link to photo for reference: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tgerus/50018288936

The seed looks wrong for a Quandong.
