Living in bootyhole squalor. Ouch. Meme/Shitpost

We're a civilized household. You know, with bidets. Having to go back to such primitive ways as scraping our bum with 120grit is ruining my glorious Asheville experience. This is easily the worst thing to come out of the disaster.

Hope someone gets a chuckle. Stay safe, love y'all.

edit: fix a typo

edit again: Lol, y'all rock. We're waiting on our portables from the 'zon, and using wetwipes tossed in the trash in the meantime.

my mom didn't have electricity until she was 11 and didn't have indoor plumbing until she was 17 and moved out on her own.

My dad grew up the same way. Working subsistence farm, lots of kids.

dad wasn't rich but he definitely grew up with more. large farm and house with running water and indoor plumbing.

mom lived in the woods in a 2 room shack, poor af. when they got electricity they moved to a home with 4 rooms, in the same area, but with an outhouse. an outhouse that I had to use a few times when visiting while my grandfather was still alive in the 80s. they didn't even have an outhouse at the 2 room shack because they used the woods.

Such a different way of life. My paternal grandparents got electricity run to their house thanks to the New Deal, and never did have running water. I still remember helping draw water from the well out the kitchen door as a kid.

Right... I had to get up in the morning at ten o’clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down the mill, and pay the mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home... our dad would kill us and dance about on our graves singing “Hallelujah.”

don't know what you're trying to say but it's not funny nor helping. maybe you or your family never struggled and you're making fun of people who actually did but either way some people did and making light of it is pretty sad.

It’s a Monty Python routine, and I’m not making fun of anyone. I’m making light of how we commiserate by comparing our pasts and “how hard we had it”.

I get things are tough for us but you have to try to hang on to a sense of humor.

I can definitely see someone not knowing this one though, haha.

@TomToe420 here's the routine they're quoting:

Difference is in the sketch, they're doing it out of one-upsmanship, and it's pretty hilarious.

I just assume most people know Python… especially on Reddit.

I really don’t think I was posting something that would offend… especially on a post with “bootyhole squalor” in the title .

I got it! And I agree. A sense of humor is EVERYTHING in times such as these. Have a good cry, break some shit, and get it all out. But if you're gonna come out of this in one piece, you gotta lighten up! (If life seems jolly rotten, There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing!)

right and no running water in the 1st place but they had creek water in the 2nd. definitely a long ways from a bidet, that's for sure.
