iOS New iPhone 16 pro battery part issue

I bought a brand new iPhone 16 pro in November and updated the iOS to 18.2.1. Once updated, I received a notification that iPhone 16 pro can’t determine if the battery is an original part or if the battery doesn’t work as it should be.

Do I ignore this?

Unsolved Apple ID recovery is a joke

I only have 1 apple device, which is my iPhone, currently stuck in recovery mode and wont restore via itunes. Cant schedule a repair service using apple care because I cant sign into my account, Cant sign into my account because the verification code can only be sent to another apple device or the phone that wont turn on, Youd think having access to the email and providing the correct number would be enough.

Unsolved Stolen Account, empty iCloud how screwed am I?

So my old Apple account was compromised, I have a new account under a different email that I’m currently using. My old account which is the issue was hijacked. They added 2FA security question, the questions are in Chinese, and they changed the birthday.
I was able to change the password but Apple will not allow me to reset the security questions due to not having “sufficient information” so I don’t have full access over Apple ID. I don’t think I ever used iCloud for this ID. Few questions to determine how screwed I am:

  1. I’m wondering if there is any work around to delete this account completely which is my goal since I don’t use this account.
  2. What information can they possibly have with only my ID? (They are not using an old device of mine, and I never used iCloud so that storage is empty).
  3. What can they use this Apple account for and should I be worried that it’s linked back to my old email and what should I do to protect myself?

Sorry if this has been posted before, pretty stressed out about this and I appreciate any help

iCloud Synched, now all my notes are gone. PLEASE tell me I can get them back?

I turned on iCloud synch for my notes app so I could edit a note with a friend- we were writing a song.

Now all my notes are gone, all the way back to 2019. Those old notes are there.

Please for the love of god tell me there is some way to recover them? I am a songwriter and my notes app stored countless songs, set lists, production notes, so many pieces of text that I can’t lose.

I am legit not gonna be okay if it’s all just gone.

Mac Is this Mac likely dead or is there any hope?

Took company Mac on vacation and it says "battery service reccommended" after heavy rainfall. The rain was so strong, it penetrated by backpack and some of my clothes were damp afterwards. I also ended up with trench foot afterwards which indicates how strong it was.

Afterwards, the Mac otherwize worked fine for a few days before a "restart loop" kicked in (I'm assuming that this could be the consequences of corrosion?

Out of panic, I took the PC to a third party guy to try out a new battery but it did not work. He did not charge and put in the old battery and indicated that it may be a logic board issue. I have since handed the PC back to my IT support. Is there any hope that it could potentially be repairable at a decent price by Apple? It is out of support but I've been using it for about 11 months.

iOS phone battery goes down when i plug it in and then starts charging like normal?

okay so this is an "issue" i've been experiencing recently and cannot find any explanation for at all, recently my phone has been doing this thing where if i plug it in it goes down to 1% and then starts charging like normal. for example i just plugged it in at 3% but it still went down to 1% and now it's charging like usual, other than that the battery itself is unaffected (other than the fact the capacity is 77% but that's due to the fact my phone is old and is used frequently) does anyone know why it's doing this? is it my charging cable going bad or is my phone just weird AF?

Unsolved I dropped my iPhone 14 in some soup.

So it's pretty self explanatory I dropped my phone in some soup for less than 5 seconds I quickly cleaned all of the gunk out and stuck my phone in rice for it to dry out. I plugged the phone in a few hours later and it said there was liquid in the port so I stuck it in rice more until all the liquid was gone, now I'm charging my phone before school and it goes to high 80s and then back to low 80s while still on the charger, anyone have any tips?? I can't get my phone to charge past 87

Unsolved Apple account emails are sent in Korean?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I’m really confused why my Apple account only sends me emails in Korean. Anytime I do anything with my iCloud as well it sends me an email in Korean. My first email address and Apple account was made when I was living in Korea, but I have made a new email since moving back to the states and my language preference is set to English. Both emails, old and new, are connected to my account, but my newest one which was made in the United States is my primary, so I’m unsure why I’m still getting emails in Korean? Any help would be great.

Solved Apple allows minors to order replacement devices w/o parental authorization and refuses to refund

My 17 y/o daughter ordered a replacement AirPod when she lost one of hers. She did this on her iPhone (without our knowledge) through the Support app and paid for it with her own debit card. Neither my wife nor I received any notification from Apple to authorize this transaction.

Upon finding the missing AirPod a few days later, we reached out to Apple to cancel the replacement order. We were told that replacement orders are typically nonrefundable, but that if we refused delivery of the new device, it would be returned to Apple and the order would be cancelled. We did as instructed.

When our daughter had not received her refund after several weeks, we reached back out to Apple Support. After being bounced from department to department for almost an hour, we finally reached a kind agent who listened to us and submitted a request for a refund. Found out this morning that the request was denied and our only resolve is to receive shipment of the replacement AirPod (which we now have no use for). I asked for a Apple Store credit in exchange, but that is not an option either.

My issue with this is that a minor should not be permitted to make a purchase without parental approval. We have app purchase approval over them set up, but why doesn't that extend to ordering replacement devices? I'm really pissed about this.

Has anyone else had an experience like this? Is there another tree that I can bark up?

Unsolved Why is it so fucking hard to buy from the Apple Store website? My order keeps getting cancelled and not even Support knows the problem

Upvotes

I’m at my wits’ end.

I’ve been looking to buy a MacBook Pro with Education store pricing through the Apple Store website.

Initially, because my credit limit wasn’t enough to pay for the entire thing, I sought to buy gift cards since the website says you can pay by credit card + up to 8 gift card/s.

I was only able to get 1 successful transaction, which was the first one, out of possibly 20 transactions. Multiple problems of either “payment authorisation failed on card ••••xxxx” or my order getting cancelled.

Every time I called support, it was possibly something wrong about my billing information, or because the system flagged something with the transaction if I used someone else’s card. My recourse was just to recheck my billing information or “let the system cool down for 2-3 days.”

When I called my bank, they always told me that there was no transaction appearing on their end for them to approve, yet alone deny. It was always a problem on Apple’s end.

I gave up and decided to overpay my credit card to have more credit limit. I ordered the MacBook today, my card got immediately charged (and upon calling my bank, they’ve confirmed that they approved the transaction), I sent my documents to verify eligibility for education pricing.

(Side note: And funny thing is, I can’t even use the gift card I bought. I tested it the day I got it to see if it would reduce the order total, so that my credit card + gift card plan would work. When I saw that it did, I removed the gift card, removed the item from the bag, and closed the website. When I called Support, it was considered used, then after much checking, the gift card was considered “cleared” and for refunding because I used my mom’s billing information.)

When I received an email from Apple entitled “Information about order,” I was informed that I was approved for education pricing, and that “Once your package is handed over to the courier, you'll receive a Shipment Notification email with a delivery date.”

However, upon checking the order status again as I was genuinely looking forward to getting the damn thing, my order got cancelled. I immediately called Support, and no, they have no idea what’s wrong. I have no recourse but to merely place the order again and see. I called my bank immediately after, and they said they approved the transaction.

On the bright side, my credit limit will likely be replenished tomorrow. On the other hand, my stress over buying from the website over this week feels insurmountable. I’ve been trying to buy gift cards since Monday to no avail, with not much help from Support. And for this MacBook specifically, I don’t get why Apple keeps flagging my purchase as something suspicious when my transaction was already approved, but I have no recourse or remedy. It’s just straight up cancelled.

I can’t purchase from a physical Apple Store because my country doesn’t have one. I wanted to purchase directly from Apple because it’s $120-$200 cheaper than buying from an Apple authorized reseller. Am I just eternally flagged as suspicious? There are people in my country who have successfully purchased through the Apple Store website with Education store pricing before.

Sorry for the vent. Just so much pent-up frustration and I wanted to see if anyone has experienced the same thing and managed to resolve the issue. Thanks.

Unsolved friend received a FaceTime call from me, but I never called

Hi everyone,

Today my friend had told me that they were sorry they missed my FaceTime call, but I was confused as I hadn't phoned them.

A couple months ago another friend of mine had said the same thing. When they told my this, I had called apple support and they assured me nothing was compromised with my account. I have two factor authentication, all the devices I was signed into were correct (just my iPhone and MacBook). Apple support mentioned that since I have two-factor authentication I would know right away if my account was compromised.

I also checked out my social media accounts just in case, and all the log-in info/active sessions were correct. As a precaution I also changed a few passwords.

When my other friend mentioned the weird call situation today I did a quick scan of all my accounts and again, everything looks good. I just changed my Apple ID password to be extra safe.

Can someone explain why this could possibly be happening? It's quite jarring to hear that people have received phone calls from me when I never called them. The only thing I'm thinking could be an issue is that I haven't updated my phone in forever (due to storage issues) and its currently at iOS version 17.4.1.

If anyone could provide some extra guidance that would be greatly appreciated. Is this just a weird tech issue or is it looking like my account is somehow compromised?

Mac Unable to turn on MacBook Air M1 (2020) after battery drain - Tried multiple fixes

Hey everyone,
I have a MacBook Air M1 (2020 model), and I haven't used it for a few days. The battery drained completely, and now I'm unable to turn it on. I’ve tried the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Charged it continuously for two days
  2. Performed an SMC reset
  3. Held the power button for 5 minutes

Despite all of this, the MacBook still won’t power on. Has anyone experienced this issue or have any other suggestions for getting it to turn on? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mac Safety Report and Question AirPods 4

tl;dr: Today I had an incident of extremely loud static explosion with my AirPods 4 during normal use that has left me with pain in my ear and feeling scared to ever use them again.

My questions for you all after reading:

  • Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?
  • Does anyone have a guess or understanding as to what might have caused this?
  • Should I be worried about serious ear damage?

I have AirPods 4 that I have used roughly daily for a while since buying them new directly from an Apple Store. I use them with my iPhone and two different Macbooks. I had them in and out like usual throughout the day. I joined a Zoom meeting on the Macbook and popped my AirPods in and BOOM. In my left airpod only there was an extremely loud static explosion (?) that was like a very quick succession of multiple muffled static booms all in one second. I jumped out of my chair and swatted the AirPod out of my ear purely reflexively. It happened very fast but I wonder too if there was a shocking sensation, or it just sounded like it. It truly was the loudest thing I think I have ever experienced.

I then (stupidly) tried putting them in again thinking at the time it was some weird fluke with the Zoom call, and it happened exactly the same again the moment I put it back in my ear. Swatted out again. The only other attendee on the call was not talking or making noise- it was not a transmitted noise at all. It almost reminded me of what it sounds like when someone blows or breathes into a very sensitive microphone but very loud.

I experienced dull pain, warmness in my ear, and slightly diminished hearing right away. The discomfort and diminished hearing are still present. I hope this is like a loud concert where the hearing bounces back quickly, but I am concerned about longer term hearing implications.

I contacted Apple and they quickly escalated to a specialist and the safety team. They offered a repair appointment and maybe replacement will be possible at that appointment. They said they have not heard of this happening (but of course I would not expect them to admit if they do). I am definitely never putting this exact pair back in my ears.

I fully reset the AirPods for now just in case I accidentally put them in before the appointment. Based on the questions Apple was asking, I also tried to reproduce the event after the reset - but only by simulating the AirPod in my ear by covering the two sensors with my finger. I could not reproduce using this method.

Curious to hear your thoughts - thanks.

Unsolved WEIRD BATTERY ISSUE

Ok today I was using my phone like normal and it was at around 70 percent or something. But then, it randomly shut off for no reason so I turned it back on and my phone went down to 1%. When I plugged my phone in it said that my charger was an unknown part even though I was using the charger that came with my phone?? I tried 4 other chargers and different outlets and they all had the same issue. When I plug it in it buzzes like how it normally does when I charge it, but then it says 0% remaining and the little lightning bolt symbol doesn’t appear on the battery, and then it shuts off a few minutes later. It’s been plugged in for over an hour and nothing has changed. I’ve also tried hard resetting the phone multiple times and it doesn’t do anything. I have an iPhone13 and I only got it like a year ago it isn’t very old. If anyone knows what’s wrong then let me know!!!!

Unsolved Apple air play for Samsung

I'm not sure if this is the right spot but I've asked this elsewhere with no luck. My apartment has a theater that uses apple air play. I only have a Samsung phone and windows computer. Is there an app I can download to use airplay? Or do I need to buy an apple device and if I do what is the cheapest option? Thank you!

Unsolved iPad locked out, port pin is pushed down and won’t let it reset on a computer.

Thumbnail i.redd.it
1 Upvotes

Hi!

My dad gave me his iPad Pro (11-in model number : MUOP2LL/A) pretty sure it’s 1st generation.

I stupidly reset the iPad and added in a passcode that I can’t remember AT all which is annoying because I normally always use the same one.

I never added my iCloud account but somehow was able to create a new passcode without an Apple ID… I tried for 3+ days trying to do the Apple reset mode with it plugged in but was never able to get it to pop up on my computer. So today I finally got to go to Apple hoping they could do it and she told me the right pin in the charging port is pushed down more than usual, and that it charges fine but when you try to connect it to reset it will not connect at all… meaning they couldn’t reset it 😅. I asked if there was anything else she could do and she said no, but that I should try to see if it’s still on my dads devices in find my iPhone and see if I can erase it from there. Now luckily it was but unlucky the iPad wont connect to the fucking wifi !!!! So it’s useless…

Is there anything else I can do??? Or is this iPad just un usable now. I would try passcodes but every one I mess up locks it for 8+ hours. Meaning I’d only be able to try once a day. I was planning to use this for school and work but I guess now have nothing ( thanks to myself lol)

I literally have never heard or had any issues with the “pin” in the port not being able to connect to the computer but still be able to charge. Like wtf??? I’m really hoping there is something I can do because iPads are not cheap at all and this was was in great condition even if it was old….

Any one have any tips???

Sorry if this is confusing. I am already confused as is and am just irritated with how much time I’ve spent on this to get nothing in return. I had already bought the Apple Pencil too 😭😭

Also we have no idea why LTE is still popping up, my dad said he canceled this when he got his new iPad so we both are confused.
