Critical Thinking Discussion

Linked from sidebar

A couple of resources to help you 'stay afloat' when discussing topics:

  • Carl Sagan's Baloney Detection Kit (with video, presented by Michael Shermer). You might not agree with everything said but, on balance, it's a great 'starter' resource. Being able to identify common fallacies of logic and rhetoric (one of the sections in the brief article) should be on the curriculum of all schools IMHO. And yes, we're aware of the irony of posting a link to Shermer (your 'baloney detector' should alarm at certain points)...but the resource has considerable merit.

  • What is Critical Thinking? (a simple, jargon-free overview).

Some links on logical fallacies:

Feel free to suggest other resources. We're a little snowed-under at the moment.

Thanks.
